FAITS SAILLANTS AU SUJET DU CANCER COLORECTAL
• Le cancer colorectal est la deuxième cause de décès par cancer au Canada.
• Il touche un nombre presque égal d’hommes et de femmes.
• Cette maladie peut être évitée grâce au dépistage et, découverte à un stade précoce, elle peut
être guérie dans plus de 90% des cas.
• Au Canada, on estime que, en 2011, 22 200 personnes recevront un diagnostic de cancer
colorectal et 8 900 en mourront.
• Au Québec, il y aura environ 6 000 nouveaux cas de cancer colorectal et 2 400 en mourront.

Colorectal Cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in Canada.
The disease affects both men and women almost equally.
With screening the disease can be prevented and, if caught early, has an over 90% cure rate.
An estimated 22,200 Canadians were diagnosed with the disease this year and sadly about
8,900 individuals died from it.
• In Quebec alone, 6,000 men and women are estimated to be diagnosed with it this year and
about 2,400 people will die from it.
