Dr. Bertrand Badie
Politologue français spécialiste des relations internationales, il est Professeur
des universités à Sciences-Po Paris et directeur du programme doctoral en
relations internationales. Dr. Badie est l’auteur de nombreux ouvrages de
politique internationale, dont le dernier s’intitule Le Temps des Humiliés.
Dr. Bertrand Badie is a French academic in political science who specializes in
international relations. He is currently a university professor at Sciences Po as
well as the director of the PhD Program on International relations. Dr. Badie
has written several books on international politics.
Dr. Ghassan El Ezzi
Professeur franco-libanais de sciences politiques à l’Université du Koweït, il est
l’auteur de nombreux ouvrages et articles en français comme en arabe, qui
concernent principalement les relations entre Orient et Occident et la géopolitique du
Liban.
Dr. El Ezzi is a French-Lebanese Professor of Political Science at Kuwait University.
He has published several books and articles in French and Arabic, mostly about
Western-Eastern relations and geopolitics of Lebanon.
His intervention:
Eversince General de Gaulle withdrew France from NATO military organization in 1966, the French
fifth republic has always followed a foreign policy on its own way between the two Cold War
superpowers and against US hegemony after the fall of the Berlin wall. From his side, Kuwait has
adopted a conciliatory foreign policy which attempts to solve regional conflicts. These two countries
today share a common interest and a common vision of a stable and peaceful multipolar world.
Dr. Fatiha Dazi-Héni
Politologue française spécialiste du monde arabe, elle est Professeur à l’Institut
d’Etudes Politiques de Lille et poursuit des recherches à l’IRSEM (Institut de
Recherche Stratégique de l’Ecole Militaire) sur la sécurité et les enjeux stratégiques
dans le Golfe.
Political Scientist who specializes in the Arab world, Dr. Dazi-Héni is a Professor at
the Institute of Political Studies in Lille and pursues research at IRSEM on security
and strategic studies in the Gulf region.
Dr. Mohammed Ghanem Alrumaihi
Professeur de sociologie à l’Université du Koweït, il a beaucoup écrit sur la sociologie
politique, le changement social dans la péninsule arabique et l’évolution de la culture
dans le monde arabe. Dr. Alrumaihi a reçu la médaille française de « Chevalier de
l’ordre des arts et des lettres » en 2003 et la plus haute distinction du Koweït en 2009.
Dr. Alrumaihi is a professor of political sociology at Kuwait University. He has written extensively on
political sociology, social change in the Arabian Gulf region and the changing culture of the Arab
world. Dr. Alrumaihi has been awarded the French distinction “Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des
lettres” in 2003 and the highest Kuwaiti honorary award in 2009.
SE M. Gilles Gauthier
M. Gilles Gauthier est actuellement conseiller de Jack Lang, le
Président de l’Institut du Monde Arabe. C’est un traducteur reconnu
ainsi qu’un diplomate qui a exercé en Iraq, en Algérie, au Bahreïn, en
Egypte et au Liban avant d’être ambassadeur de France au Yémen.
Current counselor of AWI president Jack Lang, Mr. Gilles Gauthier is
well known for its translation of the Egyptian writer Alaa el Aswany
works into French. Mr. Gauthier is a diplomat since 1982 and as such
positioned in Iraq, Algeria, Bahrein, Egypt and Lebanon before being
Ambassador of France in Yemen.
Dr. Alanoud Al-Sharekh
Dr. Al-Sharekh est consultante sur les questions de genre et de citoyenneté et
chercheur au London Middle East Institute à l’Ecole d’Etudes Orientales et
Africaines (SOAS). Elle travaille actuellement sur un projet conjoint UNDP-WRCS à
propos des femmes nationales mariées à des hommes non-nationaux dans les
pays du Conseil de Coopération du Golfe (CCG).
Dr. Al-Sharekh is a gender and citizenship consultant currently working on a
UNDP-WRCS project on national women married to non-nationals in the GCC. She
has also consulted on gender politics for UNIFEM and Freedom House, and served
as Visiting Fellow at the London Middle East Institute at the School of Oriental and
African Studies (SOAS).
Dr. Laurence Louër
Dr. Louër est chercheur à Sciences-Po Paris au Centre d’Etudes et de
Recherches Internationales (CERI). Elle a servi comme consultante
permanente pour la Direction de la Prospective (DP) du Ministère français des
Affaires Etrangères. Ses recherches se concentrent sur la politique identitaire
au Moyen-Orient ; elle travaille actuellement sur un projet de politiques sociales
et d’emploi dans les monarchies du Golfe.
Dr. Laurence Louër is Research Fellow at Sciences Po (Paris), the Centre for
International Research and Studies (CERI). She served as a permanent
consultant for the Direction of Prospective (DP) of the French Ministry of
Foreign Affairs. Her research has mostly focused on identity politics in the
Middle East. Dr. Louër is currently working on a project on social and
employment policies in the Gulf monarchies.
Her intervention:
Both France and Kuwait face the problem of dealing with the transformations of labour models in a
context of globalization and the concomitant mutations of the social pact as it was built in the aftermath
of the second world war for France and during the 1970s oil boom for Kuwait. As a consequence, both
countries need to reshfuffle old models of labour governance and of social integration.
Dr. Aseel al-Awadhi
Dr. Al-Awadhi est Professeur de philosophie, actuellement chercheur à
l’Université de Georgetown. Elle a été parmi les premières femmes élues au
Parlement koweïtien. Dr. Al-Awadhi est également journaliste pour le
quotidien koweïtien al Jarida et a tenu des conférences dans le monde entier
sur les questions de femmes en politique et de réforme politique au Koweït
comme dans les autres pays du Golfe.
Visiting researcher at Georgetown University, Dr Al-Awadhi is a Professor of
Philosophy. She has been one of the four first female Member of Parliament
in Kuwait. Dr. Al-Awadhi is also a columnist for Al Jarida newspaper and has
hold lectures over the world on Women and politics, political reform in Kuwait
and the Gulf region.
Mme Brigitte Curmi
Mme Curmi est une diplomate française spécialiste du monde arabe et du
monde musulman. Elle a servi à Jérusalem, au Caire, à Beyrouth et à Doha
et travaille actuellement au Centre d’Analyse, de Prévision et de Stratégie
(CAPS) du Ministère des Affaires Etrangères à Paris.
Mrs. Curmi is a French diplomat, specialized in the Arab and Muslim world.
She has been positioned in Jerusalem, Cairo, Beirut and Doha and currently
works in the policy planning staff as a MENA expert.
Dr. Rania Al-Nakib
Dr Al-Nakib est assistant professeur à l’université GUST. Elle poursuit des
recherches sur l’éducation aux droits de l’Homme et à la citoyenneté et
participe notamment au projet du Carnegie Endowment for International
Peace sur l’éducation à la citoyenneté au Moyen-Orient.
Assistant Professor at GUST, Dr. al-Nakib pursues research on human rights
education and education for democratic citizenship in Kuwait. She is also
involved in the Middle East citizenship education project of the Carnegie
endowment for International Peace.
M. Manaf Alhajeri
M. Alhajeri est le directeur du centre financier koweïtien Markaz et siège au
bureau de plusieurs organisations non lucratives pour le commerce et
l’éducation. Il a reçu le titre français de « Chevalier de l’Ordre National du
Mérite » pour son rôle en tant qu’homme d’affaires et ses efforts continus
pour la promotion des relations entre la France et le Koweït.
Mr. Manaf Alhajeri is the Chief Executive Officer of Kuwait Financial Center
(Markaz), a leading pan GCC asset management and investment banking
company founded in 1974. Mr. Alhajeri sits on a number of trade and
educational not for profit organizations. Mr. Alhajeri was awarded the title
“Knight of the National Order of Merit” as an appreciation of his role as a
business professional in the challenging investment environment and for his
relentless endeavours to promote the relations between the French Republic
and the State of Kuwait.
