About the Authors
SHARON ZARDETTO AKER is the author of more than
a dozen Macintosh books, including The Macintosh Bible, 7th
Edition. She was also the author of The Macintosh Bible, 3rd
Edition and contributing editor to the fourth,fifth,and sixth
editions. Sharon has written hundreds of articles for many
different magazines over the years. She designs Web sites
and databases and teaches classes on Macintosh-related topics.
HENRY BORTMAN is an award-winning freelance journalist
with 15 years experience writing about computer technology.
Formerly MacUser’s technical director, he is currently a
contributing editor to Macworld and macweek.com.
He is also the author of the BeOS human interface guidelines.
KIP CROSBY is a freelance writer and editor and publisher
of The Analytical Engine, the only publication devoted to the
history of computing in California.He maintains Kip’s Garage
(www.kipsgarage.com), a Web site that archives and
circulates tech tips, rumors, gossip, and philosophy for the
high-tech community.
FRED DAVIS was formerly editor-in-chief of MacUser,
director of PC Magazine Labs, and editor of PC Week. He
is also a technical editor of CNet and has authored more than

ROBERT LAURISTON has written and edited hundreds
