Garett is an associate in our Ottawa office practicing in the Environmental, Municipal,
Expropriation, and Regulatory Group. Garett advises municipal and corporate clients on
matters related to municipal law, land use planning, environmental contamination, and
land development. Garett assists with negotiation of favourable resolutions to disputes
and advocates for clients before the Ontario Municipal Board and the provincial courts.

Garett was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 2014 and practiced for two
years in a litigation boutique where he gained experience in civil litigation, expropriation,
and municipal law before joining BLG. Garett received his Juris Doctor degree from
Osgoode Hall Law School (York University) in 2013 and graduated with first class
honours from McGill University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International
Development Studies and a minor in Economics.
REPRESENTATIVE WORK

Acts for both municipalities and land owners in expropriation proceedings
before the Ontario Municipal Board.

Advises municipal clients and drafts municipal by-laws.

Defends municipal and corporate clients in environmental prosecutions.

Prosecutes and defends provincial offences in the Ontario Court of
Justice.

Acts on real estate acquisitions and development of commercial real
estate projects.
