The 6th Geneva Sustainable Living Festival offers a different perspective on daily life, and suggests easy, practical ways to change what you do for the better. While much of the information will be presented in French, an interpretation service in English will be provided, along with written translations of the Festival educational guide. And of course, the music, art and food can be enjoyed by all! Their music is influenced by jazz and the blues, blended with registers and sounds from a range of other styles. Guillaume Lagger: harmonica / Nicolas Silvestrini: guitar / Cyril Bondi: drums / Jonas: vocals ‘NK Saturday 9 June 13:00 stage 15h30 and 18h00 along the paths of the Botanical Gardens An acoustic trio founded at the start of the new century by three young musicians from Geneva, ‘NK began by updating the music of George Clinton, using a tight, minimalist configuration. Their repertoire also includes original compositions, some influenced by a stay in Madagascar. At the Sustainable Living Festival, the three musicians will be playing a selection of older and more recent pieces. This exceptional singer has already produced a number of albums in Argentina, where she has appeared with the famous bandonéon player Julio Oscar Pane and the equally well-known Orquesta Nacional del Tango “Juan de Dios Filiberto”. María de la Paz: guitar, vocals / Alain Ray: bandonéon / Luis Semeniuk: piano FOOD STANDS All day, Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 Food To delight your taste buds, the food vendors of the fair will offer a delicious guided tour of the gastronomic specialties of the region. Tasty and inventive menus using local products Drink The Bar welcomes you for a refreshing pause with drinks made locally or from fair trade commerce. Brunch Sunday, 10:00-12:00 noon Violete offers a Sunday brunch rich in colour and flavour. An ideal taste treat with which to begin your Sunday at the fair. ART All day, Saturday, June 9 and Sunday, June 10 For the first time, the fair includes contemporary art by inviting young artists to share with the public their look at sustainable development. Then come and collect a free copy of the children’s art magazine START at the “Activités enfants” area. As you visit the different stands, answer the questions in START and find out what YOU can do for sustainable development. The Amazon today faces massive deforestation, which will put our planet in danger. Come discover the fascinating story of the survival of some Amazon tribes and their efforts to save their culture, traditions, and environment. A 12 minute film on deforestation to plant soya on an industrial scale will be shown, followed by Chief Surui’s response to the problem of deforestation. SUSTAINABLE LIVING: WHAT CAN WE DO? Sunday, June 10, 12:30-1:45 p.m. Panel Discussion: Does climate change offer an opportunity for us all to rethink our way of life, our means of production and consumption, in order to put our society back on track to a more sustainable future? This roundtable will be punctuated by musical interludes, offering the public the chance to feel the delicate balance between nature and the topics presented through music as well as speech. Participants: Mr. Patrice Mugny, Counsellor, Administrator in charge of cultural affairs, City of Geneva; Mr. Dominique Bidou, former director of the French Environment Ministry and president of the Organization for Environmental Quality; Ms. Joëlle Kuntz, writer and journalist for Le Temps. EXHIBIT “REAGIR” (REACT) A Future for the Planet From May 18 until October 14, the Conservatory and Botanical Garden of the City of Geneva, and the Program for the Environment of the United Nations present “REAGIR”, an outdoor exhibit on five contemporary environmental catastrophies: climate change, deforestation, desertification, pollution, and lose of biodiversity. These topics are presented interactively on the lawn of the Villa le Chêne. While at the fair, be sure to visit this exhibit as well.
