Monocle 25/25 Paris France
Monocle 25/25
Paris
France
Once the home of cuttingedge art, then accused
by some of resting on its
laurels, Paris has recently
been reasserting its cultural
authority with the reopening
of the Palais de Tokyo and
Musée Picasso and the
emergence of a raft of new
restaurants and producerdriven food outlets. It
almost makes you forget the
frustration of dealing with the
city’s public institutions.
Essentials
01Be
polite. Even though
Parisians might seem rude
at times, a little bonjour, s’il
vous plaît and merci goes a
long way.
02Rooftop and open-air bars
are as popular as ever. Try
Pavillon Puebla in Le Parc
des Buttes Chaumont, Le
Perchoir on BHV roof,
Rosa Bonheur on the river
or Le Très Particulier
in Montmartre.
03 Get a perfect old-school
hammam at the Mosquée
de Paris, rue Geoffrey
Saint-Hilaire.
04 After une coupe de
champagne at Café de
Flore, dance all night at
Le Montana, re-opened in
Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
