EU2020 lacked ambition and
substance from the very beginning. Since its launch in
June 2010, there has been
neither substantial progress
on the reduction of unemployment and poverty nor
any sustainable economic recovery. The EU needs
an alternative policy strategy that puts social and
cultural needs of citizens first. We strongly oppose
the anti-social and anti-democratic attempts of
the Merkel-Sarkozy ‘pact for competitiveness’.

FALSIFIED MEDICINES
This is a negative report. In
addition to promoting higher
retirement ages in line with
the Council and its so-called
‘pact for competitiveness’,
this report supports further
attacks on public and universal systems of social security. This would exclusively benefit the financial sector which is seeking new
types of pensions to maximise speculative gain.
We are against retirement age increases and we
defend pension schemes integrated into universal
public social security systems.

Falsified medicines are silent
killers either because they are
devoid of effect or they contain toxic substances which
may harm or even kill those
who take them. The absence
of a legal framework encourages counterfeiting, an organized crime. We have
seen an increase of 400% in seizures of fake drugs
since 2005. Protecting the patient is the core aim
of this directive. Internet sales, sanctions on counterfeiters and the creation of a comprehensive
control system are also included in the proposal.
GUE/NGL supports Croatia’s
accession to the EU as this
is the will of the Croatian
people. We welcome any
progress made in the country
that would be to the benefit
of the people. However, imposing neo-liberal reforms, privatization and completion of a competitive liberal economy that will,
undoubtedly, burden the socio-economic situation of the people, is not a sustainable way forward. A peaceful foreign policy rather than NATO
and military missions should provide a viable alternative foreign affairs framework.

solidarity with all Egyptians who have opposed
Mubarak’s regime, which
has been undemocratically in power for 30
years. The maintenance of
a state of emergency is completely unjustified,
turning its back on the people and condemning
them to misery, social injustice and institutionalization of corruption and autocracy. We support the demands of the Egyptian people in the
streets for the immediate resignation of Hosni
Mubarak and the election of a democratic government that has the confidence of the people.

Il s’agit d’un rapport négatif.
En plus de l’allongement de
l’âge de la retraite en phase
avec le Conseil et son soidisant «pacte de compétitivité», ce rapport prend en charge les nouvelles
attaques sur les systèmes publics et universels
de sécurité sociale. Cela profite exclusivement au
secteur financier qui cherche de nouveaux types
de pensions afin de maximiser le gain spéculatif.
Nous sommes contre l’allongement de l’âge de la
retraite et nous défendons les régimes de retraite
intégrés dans des systèmes universels publics de
sécurité sociale.
ALLEMAGNE
La stratégie Europe 2020
manquait d’ambition et de
substance dès le départ. Depuis son lancement
en juin 2010, il n’y a encore aucun progrès concret
en ce qui concerne la réduction du chômage ou la
pauvreté ni aucune reprise économique durable.
L’UE a besoin d’une stratégie politique alternative
qui donne la priorité aux besoins sociaux et culturels des citoyens. Nous nous opposons aux tentatives antisociales et antidémocratiques du «pacte
de compétitivité» du tandem Merkel-Sarkozy.

Les médicaments falsifiés
sont des tueurs silencieux
soit parce qu’ils sont dépourvus d’effets soit parce qu’ils
contiennent des substances
toxiques qui peuvent nuire
ou même tuer ceux qui les prennent. L’absence
d’un cadre juridique encourage la contrefaçon et
le crime organisé. Nous avons vu une augmentation de 400 % en saisies de médicaments contrefaits depuis 2005. La protection du patient est l’objectif principal de cette directive. Les ventes par
Internet, les sanctions contre les contrefacteurs et
la création d’un système complet de contrôle sont
également inclus dans la proposition.
GUE/NGL soutient l’adhésion de la Croatie à l’Union
européenne comme c’est la
volonté du peuple croate.
Nous accueillons tous les
progrès réalisés dans le pays
qui seraient à l’avantage des citoyens. Cependant,
l’imposition de réformes néolibérales, la privatisation et la réalisation d’une économie libérale
concurrentielle qui plomberont, sans aucun doute,
la situation socio-économique de la population,
ne sont pas une solution durable. Une politique
étrangère pacifique plutôt que l’OTAN et d’autres
missions militaires devrait fournir un cadre alternatif viable pour les affaires étrangères.
GUE/NGL exprime sa solidarité avec tous les Égyptiens qui se sont opposés
au régime de Moubarak,
qui détient le pouvoir de
manière antidémocratique
depuis 30 ans. Le maintien d’un état d’urgence
est complètement injustifié; il ignore la population et les condamne à la misère et l’injustice
sociale, et institutionnalise la corruption et
l’autocratie. Nous soutenons les demandes du
peuple égyptien qui est dans la rue pour demander la démission immédiate de Hosni Moubarak et l’élection d’un gouvernement démocratique qui aurait la confiance du peuple.
