Presidency of the FIG in 2016

Lausanne (SUI) / UEG OFFICE, January 23, 2015: The European Union of
Gymnastics (UEG) has taken note of the decision of the French Federation of
Gymnastics (FFG) to present the bid of Georges Guelzec as President of the
International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG). The current President, Prof. Bruno
Grandi (ITA) has in fact informed that he will not represent himself for a 5th
mandate.
Georges Guelzec presides the UEG since 2010 and, in this capacity, attends the
Executive meetings of the FIG. Since its foundation in 1881, the FIG have known 8
presidents, all representing the UEG, the most important union with its 48
countries out of the 142 that counts the FIG, i.e. more than one-third.
The election of the 9th and new President of the FIG will be held in October 2016,
on the occasion of the 81st Congress already attributed to the town of Tokyo (JPN).

Présidence de la FIG en 2016
CANDIDATURE EUROPÉENNE
Lausanne (SUI) / Bureau de l’UEG, le 23 janvier 2015 :L’Union Européenne de
Gymnastique (UEG) a pris acte de la décision de la Fédération Française de
Gymnastique (FFG) de présenter la candidature de Georges Guelzec au poste de
Président de la Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). L’actuel
Président, le Prof. Bruno Grandi (ITA) a en effet manifesté sa décision de ne plus
se représenter pour un 5ème mandat.
Georges Guelzec préside l’UEG depuis 2010 et à ce titre, assiste de plein droit
aux réunions de l’Exécutif de la FIG. Depuis sa fondation en 1881, la FIG a connu
8 présidents, tous ressortissants de l’UEG, l’union la plus importante avec ses 48
pays sur les 142 que compte la FIG, soit plus du tiers.
L’élection du 9ème et nouveau Président de la FIG aura lieu en octobre 2016, à
l’occasion du 81ème Congrès d’ores et déjà attribué à la Ville de Tokyo (JPN).
