With those lively and coloured illustrations, even the most stubborn are invited to dance until they get restless… An ode to sixth art. 4 5 ALBUMS collection Le petit bonhomme et le monde The little man and the world Sylvie Neeman Ingrid Godon 6+, 18 x 24 cm, 44p., 14.90 € NE W TITLE This is the story of a little man in his glass ball. But one day he leaves… Faced with an other reality, the little guy doesn’t recognize anything more: the tree of the snowball is very different, the dog too, even the snow is not cold like the one he knows. Then he found a house inhabited by “others” like him. And he decided to stay. But sometimes he thinks that “it was better there…”. A questioning of our relationship with reality. Is my reality the reality of everyone? Is there a truth? Do the other apprehends things in the same way as me? An album between philosophy and poetry. Sylvie Neeman was born in Lausanne in 1963. After a bachelor’s degree in literature and the birth of her two daugthers she progressively specialized in children’s literature. She is in charge of “Parole”, the magazine of the Swiss Institute for Children’s and Youth Media and writes columns in Le Temps newspaper. Her first novel “Rien n’est arrivé” (Nothing Happened) was published in 2001 by the Denoël publishing house, and has been translated into Italian and German. “Mercredi à la librairie” (Wednesday at the Library) came out in 2007 (Sarbacane publishing house, illustrated by Olivier Tallec). Ingrid Godon was born in Belgium in 1959. She devotes herself to illustration for more than twenty years, giving priority to a mixt technique – grease pastel, coloured pencil and paint. She was twice selected in Bologna and she won many prizes. Quelque chose de grand Something big Sylvie Neeman Ingrid Godon 6+, 18 x 24 cm, 44p., 14.90 € Sold to USA, Korea, Germany, Spanish worlwide and Simple Chinese A young boy and an older one talk. The young boy would like do to something big, but not as big as a mountain, « it’s too big », not as big as an elephant, « it’s too grey », not as big as a tower or a house, but something as big as a lighthouse with the sea and some light, “but not exactly”. Then the older boy suggests to go for a walk by the sea so that they can think. A tasty talk between the young boy who has trouble clearly expressing what he would like and the older one who tries to guess his desires. 6 7 ALBUMS collection Sylvie Neeman was born in Lausanne in 1963. NE W TITLE La mer est ronde The sea is round Sylvie Neeman & Albertine 5+, 18 x 26 cm, 32p., 15.90 € Sold to Spanish worlwide Tina works on a boat, she cleans the cabins, she makes the beds, she cleans the windows. Sometimes, there is no window in the cabins, thus Tina hangs on the wall a big picture where the sea and the sky can be seen; it is almost the same. Tina has a lover; he is a cook. All day long, he peels carrots, cuts some zucchini, and every night, he cooks pasta with tomato sauce, flowers and ice creams. But his specialty is fish, the real one, not the one cut in small rectangles. Antonio also works in a boat, but not on Tina’s one. Then they don’t see each other so often. But at night, they write to each other. One day, Tina is tired of this situation, she would like to see Antonio again… A beautiful love story illustrated by Albertine and told with the right words of Sylvie Neeman. 8 9 ALBUMS collection ALBUMS collection Livre-promenade, boardbook, by Germano Zullo & Albertine by Germano Zullo & Albertine Germano Zullo was born on the 16th of may 1968 in Geneva and got the swiss nationality in 1985. The child grows to a man and it’s the mother who begins to shorten more and more… A book about motherhood, about love, that can be read as a flipbook. A round, a farandole, telling with poetry the circle of life. For this book, Albertine uses only a grey pencil. This book will be part of an Albertine’s exhibition in L’Art à la page in Paris in november 2014. Bimbi Albertine 20,5 x 29,5 cm, 112p., 24.80 € Childhood might seem like an enchanted interlude for some people. First of all it is the time of insouciance, this very rare and ephemeral state of being. Bimbi delves into the footbridges that link up our different states of mind; from freedom to pressure, from joy to sadness; from imagination to reality; from insouciance to torment. This book looks at the matter that shapes one’s personality or that even builds a society. To take time to observe feelings and emotions where there are the liveliest (during childhood) might enable the reader to reinterpret the world by speculating on the meaning of life. What do we do with these first feelings? What do we keep from these small splinters of insouciance? Albertine’s illustrations are the opportunity to understand what makes us come alive and what brings us together. 11 ALBUMS collection ALBUMS collection by Germano Zullo & Albertine by Germano Zullo & Albertine Les Aventures de Marta Marta’s Adventures 6+, 15 x 19 cm, 32p., 4 books in a box, 19.90 € sold to Korea, USA, Japan, Israël, Thailand, Iran, simplified Chinese, Tawain and Netherlands. What is happening? Roger Trotter is ready for anything in order to get Jumping Jack’s foot on a ladder. 13 ALBUMS collection ALBUMS collection Juste à côté de moi Just beside me Sigrid Baffert Julien Billaudeau 5+, 16 x 29 cm, 32p., 13.90 € Victor and Igor are friends, they live in the same town, they are in the same class, they love the same girl, they have the same problems: they both have troubles getting up on the morning, none of them is fond of the canteen food, they both are very bad at dictation and bored on evenings while waiting for their parents to come home. And yet Victor and Igor are very different. Victor eats his fill, his father is an advertisement designer, he has a baby sitter who takes care of him on the evening until his parents come home, and a nice bedroom all for himself. Igor is always hungry, his parents leave early and come home very late because of their jobs, he has to take care by himself of his young brothers after school and his apartment has only one room. Only the subtle and delicate style of Sigrid Baffert could explain to the children the social differences, our two-tier society, the everyday of the poorest. The graphic style, spirited and colourful of Julien Billaudeau brings good mood and vitality to this album, of which the theme is grave and so actual. Ingénieuse Eugénie Ingenious Eugenia Anne Wilsdorf 4+, 17 x 24 cm, 44p., 13.90 € Sold to Italy Eugenia and her little brother Nestor live on the Forgotten Island. One day, they glimpse far away in the mist the island of Nowhere. They are quickly explained they must have had visions: this island is nothing but a myth, an unreachable ground. That’s all it takes to convince Eugenia to reach it at all costs. With her gift for inventions and the unexpected help from a few inhabitants of the island, beavers and fireflies, Eugenia manages to cast bridges between her island and the one she dreams about, where she is welcome by nice autochthons. A book as a plea for science, reminding us that it is within reach of everybody, including girls! 14 Drôle d’encyclopédie Funny Encyclopaedia Adrienne Barman all ages, 18.5 x 25.5 cm, 216p., 24.90 € Sold to Poland, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, English worldwide, China (simple chinese), Russia, Brasil and Taiwan The snow white, the hunters, the disappeared, the noisy, the gigantic, the nervous, the endangered… What a very personal way to classify animals. Adrienne’s work is as much a scientific research than a titanic process of colouring. Proof of this is that the illustrator looked at the case of her 216 pages encyclopaedia for a year-long. Patchwork of tints or gradations, she stages with humour, and in her own way, many and varied animals in their natural environment: from the leopard lounging on a branch to the smiling hippopotamus on the bottom of the water or the worried owl into the dark night. A beautiful piece of work that reminds one of the encyclopaedias of yesteryear, but in a much more funny way… Mélimélanimo Mish-mash animals Constanze v. Kitzing 2+, 16 x 23 cm, 36p., mish-mash boardbook, 14.90 € Sold to Spanish worlwide An elephant in a hot pink tutu, a rhinoceros in green and white stripped pyjamas, a sheep knitting a sock, a fox in uniform, a penguin carrying his baby on the back… And why not mix them all? The horned tail of the goat with the chubby body of the pig and the skinny legs of the zebra, to create animals even funnier! Full-face… or from behind, it’s even better! A mish-mash book, funny and charming, which will ravish the little ones. 15 MILTON collection MILTON collection Album, hardback cover, all ages, 19 x 14 cm, 40p., 10.80 €, by Haydé Haydé was born in Cologne in 1956.
