APPEL DES AUTEURS CINEMATOGRAPHIQUES ITALIENS ET EUROPEENS AU
PRESIDENT DE LA REPUBLIQUE ITALIENNE, GIORGIO NAPOLITANO.
Les studios de Cinecittà sont fameux dans le monde entier pour être un centre
d’excellence pour la création des oeuvres cinématographiques. Outre à ses théatres et à
ses laboratoires, c’est l’éxtraordinaire professionalité de ses maîtres constructeurs et
sculpteurs, ses artisans du craie et ses machinistes, qui a attiré plusières parmi les plus
grandes productions européennes et mondiales.
Aujourd’hui Cinecittà est dirigée par des privés dont le projet commercial c’est de
déstructurer l’activité de production cinématographique d’une part et de l’autre de
édifier hotels et centre commerciaux, entamant de cette manière le processus de
suréxploitation caressé depuis longtemps par les entrepreneurs locales, qui désirent
transformer Cinecittà dans un énorme chantier.
Pour ces raisons nous, les auteurs cinématographiques soussignés, faisons appel au
Président de la Republique Italienne et au Premier ministre pour qu’ils interviennent
d’urgence pour empêcher tout ça et rendre à Cinecittà et l’Istituto Luce le rôle de point
de repère du cinéma mondial qui ont toujours eu et aussi pour les remettre dans le rôle
publique de moteur du renouvellement et de la revitalisation du cinéma italien.

Gli studi di Cinecittà sono famosi in tutto il mondo come luogo d’eccellenza per la
creazione di opere cinematografiche. Insieme ai suoi studi e ai suoi laboratori sono le
straordinarie professionalità dei maestri costruttori e scultori, degli artigiani del gesso e
dei macchinisti di scena ad aver attirato a Roma le più grandi produzioni europee e
d’oltreoceano.
Ora il piano industriale dei privati che gestiscono gli Studios prevede da un lato lo
smantellamento delle attività cinematografiche dall’altro la costruzione di alberghi e
“centri benessere” avviando così quel processo di cementificazione e sfruttamento
dell’area che alcuni dei più importanti imprenditori edili della regione meditano da
tempo.
Per questo noi sottoscritti autori cinematografici rivolgiamo un appello al Presidente
della Repubblica italiana e al Presidente del Consiglio perché intervengano
urgentemente per impedire tutto ciò e perché Cinecittà e l’Istituto Luce tornino ad
essere punto di riferimento produttivo del cinema mondiale e restituiti a quel ruolo
pubblico di volano per il rinnovamento e il rilancio del cinema italiano.
ITALIAN AND EUROPEAN FILMMAKERS’ APPEAL TO GIORGIO NAPOLITANO,
PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN REPUBLIC
Cinecittà Film Studios are famous the world over as a centre of excellence. As well as its
soundstages and its laboratories, it is because of the extraordinary expertise of its
master builders and sculptors, its craftsmen and stagehands that some of the greatest
European and international film productions have been realized in this legendary place.
Now Cinecittà is managed by privates whose business plan intends to dismantle most of
its film activity in favour of the building of shopping centres, hotels, health and beauty
centres and the likes - thus finally giving some of the region’s biggest building
contractors their long-awaited chance to prey upon this national treasure of ours and
turn it into a gigantic building site.
For this reason the undersigned film-makers are appealing to the President of the Italian
Republic and to the Italian Prime Minister to intervene urgently in order to prevent this
to happen and to make sure that Cinecittà and the Istituto Luce will return to being the
landmark of world film production that they used to be as well as playing a major public
role in the renewal and relaunch of Italian cinema.
