EFFECTIVE UTILIZATION OF PRODUCTS IN
DENTAL HYGIENE

This full day workshop will give you an overview of many of
the ergonomic challenges we are faced with each day and
provide suggestions on how to overcome them. We will look at
our seated positions while treating our patients, our patients’
positioning in the chair, where we reach to get what we need,
all our instrument needs, as well as a multitude of other
challenges facing the dental hygienist each day. Let’s figure out
how to eliminate the negative repetitions and replace them
with positive approaches while staying active throughout the
day. Let’s bounce our way to success by learning important
chairside prevention.
Cet atelier d'une journée vous présentera de plusieurs des
défis ergonomiques auxquels nous sommes confrontés chaque
jour et fournira des suggestions sur la façon de les surmonter.
Nous allons examiner nos positions assises tout en traitant nos
patients, le positionnement de nos patients dans la chaise, où
nous tendons le bras pour attraper ce dont nous avons besoin,
tous nos besoins d'instruments, ainsi qu'une multitude
d'autres défis auxquels fait face l'hygiéniste dentaire chaque
jour. On essayera d'imaginer comment éliminer les répétitions
négatives et les remplacer par des approches positives, tout en
restant actif tout au long de la journée. Nous allons rebondir

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to
answer the following questions:
1. Do you have an operator stool that fits you?
2. Can you get your patient seated in a way that you can see
& work? Can your assistant see what they need to see to
effectively retract and suction?
3. Do you use the articulating head rest on your chair
4. Where are the controls, handpieces and instruments?
Objectifs:

Major Issues:
Room Layout- analyze your workspace, can you reach
everything you need?

Patient positioning- consider Crescent pillows to assist with
patient positioning.
Access to instruments- are they within 15 inches. Consider the
Zirc tray if you can’t access instruments, handpieces or power
scalers.

Gloves – consider Right/ Left gloves (Cranberry or Arellia and
Crosstex) Make sure your gloves are not too tight and do not
pull on the area around the thumb.
