La Restauration
Le 31 décembre 1813, Genève est libérée du joug napoléonien,
grâce à l’armée autrichienne. Le régime oligarchique est rétabli.
Chaque 30 décembre au soir, sur la Treille, discours patriotiques
souvent musclés. Le 31 au matin (7h) tirs au canon.
∆ Commemoration of the Restoration. 30-31 December. On the
31st of December 1813, Geneva was liberated from the Napoleonic
yoke thanks to the Austrian army. The oligarchic regime was
reestablished. Every year on the 30th of December patriotic
speeches are held at the Treille.

rendez-vous costumés d’Europe.
Arquebusiers, piquiers, fifres et
tambours déambulent dans les
quartiers historiques jusqu’au
grand défilé du dimanche en fin
d’après midi (plan G8). Près de
700 participants à la lueur des flambeaux. Moment magique dans
le crépuscule hivernal.
∆ The Escalade remains one of the three largest costumed
celebrations in Europe. Harquebus soldiers, pikemen, and the fife
and drum players, saunter through the historic quarters until the
grand parade which late Sunday afternoon brigs together 700
participants by torch light (map F8).
