Environmental Club put together an awareness campaign: - Created a powerpoint presentation on environmental impacts of bottled water. - Collected empty bottles of water to make a display of the waste - Had "Lobby days" in the Student Union Building with pledge forms, water taste tests, and surveys. Powerpoint Templates Page 4 Les étapes 2. Faculty & Sodexo : Throughout the awareness campaign we kept faculty, administration and sodexo informed of our plan to become bottled water free. We made a powerpoint presentation tailored to these stakeholders and presented them with an education of the impacts of bottled water. Powerpoint Templates Page 5 Les étapes 3. Media: - Through communications with the School newspaper, the local paper, radio Canada we kept the interest of the media to promote and create awareness - Maude Barlow: Guest speaker and expert on the bottle water industry - ROCK 4 WATER: Concert event to raise awareness Powerpoint Templates Page 6 Les étapes 4. Student Referendum - Had a student vote in favour of the elimination of Bottled water on campus. - Vote turned out successful 5. Alternatives - Worked with the Buildings and Grounds facilities on campus to restore old water fountains and increase accessibility to water by increasing water fountains on campus Powerpoint Templates Page 7 Les étapes 6. Presented the Executive Committee of the University a PLAN - Action plan outlining the details of the campaign, research on the costs to the University and what impacts removing water creates. 7. Continuous Education - All first year students were provided with a re-usable water bottle in their orientation packages. - We still have signage and information accessible to students on the bottled water campaign.
