Devant plus de 3600 spectateurs, Franziska
Preuss, Andrea Henkel, Franziska Hildebrand
et Dahlmeier ont remporté le relais inaugural
de la Coupe du monde de Biathlon Annecy
Le Grand-Bornand. La nationalmannschaft
s’impose en 1h06’27’’ avec seulement trois
pioches et signe sa première victoire de la
saison. Vainqueur du relais d’Hochflizen, les
Ukrainiennes arrachent la deuxième place
à 23’’3 de la victoire. La Norvège, grâce à
de grosses performances en ski (10 pioches
pour les 4 filles), parvient à accrocher le
podium. L’équipe de France avec Anaïs
Bescond, Sophie Boilley, Anaïs Chevallier et
Marie-Laure Brunet devait se contenter
de la 5e place à 1’43’’. Inquiétant ? Non ! Et
Marie-Laure Brunet s’en explique : «Bien
sûr, on aurait préféré être sur le podium
mais avec nos armes du jour, ce n’était pas
possible. On accuse le coup physiquement,
ça fait un mois que l’on est parti de chez
nous. Ce relais nous aura décrassé pour le
sprint de samedi ! » Place au relais hommes
à 14h30.
In front of more than 3500 spectators,
Franziska Preuss, Andrea Henkel, Franziska
Hildebrand and Dahlmeier won the opening
relay of the World Cup Biathlon Annecy-Le
Grand Bornand. The nationalmannschaft
got the win in 1:06’27’’ with three-spareround shooting performance and sign
its first victory of the season. Winner of
Hochflizen’s relay, Ukraine , finished 2nd,
at 23.3 seconds from the 1rst. Norway,
thanks to good skiing performance (10
spare-round for the 4 girls) reached the
podium. French team with Anaïs Bescond,
Sophie Boilley, Anaïs Chevallier and Marie
Laure Brunet only finished fifth, in 1’43’’.
Anything to worry about? No! Marie Laure
Brunet explains: «Sure, we would have
prefered to be on the podium but in our
situation it was almost impossible. We are
physically tired, it has been a month we
have left home. This relay warmed us up
for saturday sprint!» Looking forward to
men’s relay at 2:30 p.m.

Qu’ils vont avoir affaire à une piste
singulière, à la fois compacte et très
technique. Je leur souhaite de profiter
de ce site engageant et moderne, qu’ils
aiment s’y exprimer et donnent le meilleur.

As a local from Le Grand-Bornand,
how do you see this french
World Cup ?
It is like a dream come true. I belong to
a generation of athletes (ed: Christophe
Vassallo was French Champion in Biathlon
in 1994)who have been waiting for long time
to see such an event organized on french
soil. I am really proud to finally live it at
home, in Le Grand-Bornand.
En tant qu’enfant du pays, quel
regard portez-vous sur cette
Coupe du monde française ?
C’est un rêve qui se réalise. Je fais partie
d’une génération d’athlètes (NDLR : Christophe Vassallo a été champion de France de
biathlon en 1994) qui a longtemps espéré
voir la France organiser un tel événement.
C’est une immense fierté de le vivre chez
moi, au Grand-Bornand.
Et avec votre œil de délégué
technique pour l’IBU ?
Les exigences sont extrêmement fortes sur
un événement de cette ampleur. Pour autant, et de l’avis général, Le Grand-Bornand
a mis la barre très haut en parvenant à se
hisser au niveau des sites habitués à organiser des coupes du monde. Restons concentrés, c’est très bien parti...
And as a technical member
of the IBU ?
The requirements are very high on this kind
of event. However, and it is generally felt, le
Grand-Bornand set the bar very high and
managed to reach the standards of those
sites used to host the World Cup. Let’s keep
concentrated, we are very well on track....
What do you want to say
to the athletes ?
They will have to deal with a singular track,
compact and technical at the same time.
I wish them to take advantage of this
challenging and modern site, to enjoy it, and
give the best of themselves. Enjoy !!!
L’Équipe de France en mode James Bond !
The French team with a James Bond style !
Habituée des campagnes les plus décalées,
l’Equipe de France féminine de biathlon a
frappé fort en posant façon James Bond
girls, ses entraîneurs endossant le (beau)
rôle de l’agent secret sur un poster collector édité en vue des Jeux Olympiques de
Sochi... Malicieusement intitulée « Bons
baisers de Russie », cette affiche au succès
fou s’arrache depuis hier auprès de la boutique officielle, de la billetterie et de l’Office
de tourisme du Grand-Bornand.

What an atmosphere!
The French team with a James Bond style !
The french women’s team are used to offthe-wall campaign but this time they stroke
hard by posing as James Bond girls and
the trainers assuming the role of the secret
agent on a collector’s poster edited for
Sochi Olympic Games... Naughtily entitled
«From Russia, with Love », this poster is
having a great success and since yesterday
everybody wants to buy it from the official
shop, the ticket office and Le GrandBornand Tourist Office.
Les allemands à la fête !
Première rencontre chaleureuse ! C’est
aussi cela le biathlon, le partage, la joie et
une ambiance hors du commun.
Ces fervents supporters allemands sillonnent le monde depuis plus de 10 ans afin
d’encourager leur équipe partout en Europe et même au-delà. Assidus des olympiades d’hiver, nos globe-trotteurs seront
évidemment présents aux JO de Sochi.

First warm and friendly meeting ! This is also
what biathlon is about, sharing and enjoying
in a cheerfull and extraordinary atmosphere.
Those enthousiastic german supporters
have been traveling around the world for
over 10 years in order to cheer on their
biathlon team across Europe and beyond.
With a regular attendance on Winter
Olympiads, our globe-trotters will be in
Sochi for the next Olympic Games.

• « COUN’TREES, les arbres du monde
». Quand des arbres du Grand- Bornand
deviennent des oeuvres monumentales
en hommage aux différentes nations
présentes sur la coupe du monde. Par
Pierre Amoudry et Licorne Prod. en
partenariat avec les sprays
• Sculptures en bois flotté Pierre Chamoux,
sculpteur inspiré par l’art brut et le land
art, installera deux oeuvres géantes dans le
centre du village.

LAND ART EXHIBITION

to every country attending the World Cup.

Stadium opening : 9:30 TO 17:30
Le relais / RELAY
Départ groupé en ligne. Le relais est composé de 4 coureurs du même sexe. Les dames doivent effectuer 6 km et les hommes 7,5 km
chacun. Leur course est entrecoupée d’une séance de tir couché, puis debout (soit 8 tirs au total, chaque biathlète disposant de huit balles
pour descendre cinq cibles). Toute cible non abattue après ces huit balles entraîne une pénalité d’une boucle de 150 m supplémentaire.
Mass start. Relay teams consist of 4 biathletes of the same sex. The women’s course is 6 km long and the men’s course 7.5 km. The
race includes two shooting rounds, one prone and one standing (8 shots total, each biathlete has eight bullets to hit five targets). Every
missed target after firing all bullets results in a 150 m penalty loop.
