randiose et majestueux derrière son architecture signée
Jacques-Ange Gabriel, le Crillon contemple la Concorde,
l’une des plus belles places du monde, tout en prolongeant un
lien légendaire avec l’incontournable faubourg Saint-Honoré.
Érigé à la demande de Louis XV, témoin de trois siècles
d’Histoire, longtemps propriété de l’illustre famille des Comtes
de Crillon, l’hôtel est transformé en palace en 1909 par
l’architecte Walter-André Destailleur. Il accueille depuis cette
date des voyageurs du monde entier. Sa clientèle raffinée et
cosmopolite de célébrités, de politiques, d’artistes, de princes et
de reines, est attirée par sa réputation d’excellence et par son
histoire unique. L’Hôtel de Crillon est depuis devenu un mythe,
un fleuron de l’hôtellerie de luxe, un symbole vivant de l’art de
vivre à la française…
Un symbole qui défie le temps dont l’inestimable patrimoine
requiert aujourd’hui des soins de préservation. L’Hôtel a fermé
ses portes le 30 mars 2013, pour une durée de deux ans.
Imprégner « l’esprit grands siècles » sous des formes renouvelées,
pour que l’histoire passée ait un futur et pour que le mythe vive
tous les jours, est le défi donné par le projet de rénovation.
Inscrivant son renouveau dans une philosophie de respect et
de continuité, le siècle à venir dévoilera les salons de réception
classés et leurs sublimes décors. Comme celui où MarieAntoinette prit ses leçons de musique, comme les fontaines en
marbres roses qui proviendraient du château de Versailles, les
plafonds en trompe l’œil et les bas-reliefs en ronde-bosse, ou
la très emblématique cave à liqueurs Eléphant Baccarat,
commandée par Jean Taittinger d’après un chef d’œuvre créé
pour l’Exposition Universelle de Paris en 1878. C’est ainsi que
la mémoire du lieu est conservée, en regardant vers le futur.
Les deux ans de rénovation de l’Hôtel de Crillon seront pour
les chefs Christopher Hache, chef des cuisines et Jérôme
Chaucesse, chef pâtissier, l’occasion d’enrichir leur savoir
grâce à de nombreux voyages, rencontres et projets…
De 1992 à 2012, l’hôtel de Crillon fut le lieu d’accueil idéal du
Bal des débutantes. En 2013 et 2014, le Crillon effectue
d’important travaux de rénovations. Le Bal 2015 sera l’occasion
de fêter comme il se doit l’inauguration du nouveau Crillon !

T
he Crillon tells a tale of grandeur without bombast: a story
that unfolds behind a perfectly proportioned neoclassical
façade overlooking Place de la Concorde, one of the world’s
most magical city squares. Built by order of Louis XV, the hotel
bears witness to three centuries of history. Opened to the public
over one hundred years ago, it quickly attracted a sophisticated,
cosmopolitan clientele including princes and queens drawn by
its reputation for excellence. The Hôtel de Crillion is now a
legend – a standard bearer for luxury hotels and the epitome of
French art de vivre.
The Crillon may be a timeless icon, but the bricks and mortar
on which its priceless heritage is built are today in need of some
care. As a result, the hotel closed its doors on 30 March 2013
for two years. During this time, extensive renovations and
improvements to the hotel’s interior will be carried out by
master craftsmen, in keeping with French tradition, revitalising
this historical landmark for many years to come.
The next century will feature listed reception rooms. Like the
room where Marie-Antoinette took her music lessons, along
with pink marble fountains from the Château de Versailles,
trompe l’œil ceilings and bas-relief featuring ronde-bosse
techniques, not forgetting the “Elephant” liquor cellar made by
Baccarat, commissioned by the Taittinger family and based on
a masterpiece created for the 1878 Universal Expo in Paris.
The Hôtel de Crillon’s two-year hiatus will give chefs
Christopher Hache and Jérôme Chaucesse an opportunity to
enhance their expertise through a combination of travel,
engagements and projects.
From 1992 to 2012, the Hotel de Crillon served as the ideal
home for the Bal des debutantes. In 2013 and 2014, the event
will be held at the Automobile Club of France, while the Crillon
undergoes renovations. The 2015 Bal des débutantes will be
the occasion to celebrate the inauguration of the new Crillon!

A brief history
Naguère, les jeunes filles nobles du Royaume-Uni attendaient
impatiemment leur dix-huitième anniversaire. Année où elles étaient
présentées à la reine. Ensuite, venait la saison des bals.
Ces jeunes filles furent nommées les « débutantes ».
Cette tradition britannique influença les bals européens.
Once upon a time, young ladies from aristocratic families of the U.K. would
wait eagerly for their eighteenth birthday. It was then that they would be
presented to H.M. the Queen. Next, the season’s balls would begin.
These young ladies were referred to as “débutantes”. This British tradition
would go on to influence balls all across Europe.
E
n France, en 1957, André Tarbes, de la maison Jean Patou,
renoua avec cette tradition. Jacques Chazot présentait chaque
année les débutantes en robes blanches, gants blancs et diadème
sur la scène de l’Opéra Garnier, ou à Versailles.
Les dons reçus grâce au Bal financent, chaque année, un an de
scolarisation d’environ 900 petites filles extrêmement pauvres du
Laos et de Cebu aux Philippines, ainsi que la création d’un centre
éducatif de jour.
Les événements de 1968 mirent un terme aux bals de débutantes
en France et la coutume sembla disparue.
Chaque année, à l’automne, cette soirée commence par la
présentation des vingt-cinq jeunes filles en robes Haute Couture,
suivie d’un dîner, à l’issu duquel se tient le Bal.
En 1992, Ophélie Renouard a créé la version contemporaine
qu’elle a appelée « le Bal ». Chaque année, le Bal réunit vingt
cinq jeune filles d’horizons différents, d’environ douze pays.
Chaque « Deb » est vêtue d’une robe de grand couturier : le Bal
est le moment mémorable de leurs débuts dans le monde de la
couture et des médias.
Le Bal est un événement international qui a été classé dès
2005 par le magazine Forbes comme l’une des 10 soirées
les plus prestigieuses au monde. Il connaît chaque année,
un succès croissant.
L’Hôtel de Crillon, Place de la Concorde, en fut le lieu d’accueil
idéal de 1992 à 2012.
Le Bal a pour but de récolter des fonds pour une ou plusieurs
associations caritatives. Depuis 2009, le Bal est donné au profit
d’Enfants d’Asie. Une fondation créée en 1991 pour assurer la
scolarisation des jeunes filles défavorisées d’Asie du Sud Est.
Ainsi débutèrent la princesse Lorenza de Liechtenstein, la

n France, in 1957, the Couture House Jean Patou revived the
tradition. It became an annual event, held on alternate years at
the Opera in Paris and in Versailles. Mr. Jacques Chazot presented
the débutantes wearing tiaras, white gowns and white gloves.
The political events of May 1968 saw the end of débutante balls
in France.
In 1992, Ophélie Renouard invented a modern version called
“le Bal”, transformed in order to suit the modern world.
Each year, she brings together twenty-five vibrant young girls and
the Haute Couture and Couture houses make each one of them
a representative of their fashion, by dressing them for the event.
These Debs need not be introduced to society like in the old days:
le Bal is the unforgettable moment of their couture and
media premières.
This is now a Parisian institution, “one of the top 10 social
events in the world”, according to Forbes magazine. Its success
has been increasing year after year.
From 1992 to 2012, the Crillon Hotel in Paris has served as the
perfect home for le Bal.
The purpose of le Bal is to raise money for charity. Since
2009, it has benefited Enfants d’Asie (Children of Asia), a girlshelp-girls humanitarian association, launched in 1991, to promote
women’s education in South East Asia. Every year, the donations
received from le Bal have funded a year of schooling for about 900
disadvantaged girls in the mountains of Laos and Cebu in the
Philippines, and the creation of a safe care.
This annual event, held on Thanksgiving weekend, starts with
the Haute Couture presentation featuring twenty-five Debs from
about twelve countries. The presentation is followed by a dinner
and... le Bal!
The ball’s modern and international image has been established by

Le Bal 2013 benefits Enfants d’Asie

ondée en 1991, l’association Enfants d’Asie soutient près de
10 000 enfants défavorisés en subvenant à leurs besoins
essentiels : soins, nourriture, logement, scolarisation, formation
professionnelle ou universitaire. Enfants d’Asie accueille dans
ses centres, au Cambodge, au Laos, aux Philippines et au
Vietnam, les enfants démunis, les enfants des rues, les orphelins.
Les jeunes filles démunies en Asie du Sud-Est sont les premières
victimes de la violence et de l’exploitation. L’accès au savoir et à
la formation sont les meilleurs moyens de les protéger de ces
dangers et de les mettre sur la voie de la réussite.
D’anciennes débutantes du Bal, Milana Brunel, Marie Victoire
de Kergorlay, Julia Piaton de Turckheim, Natalia Zobel,
volontaires dans des centres de l’association en Asie, peuvent
témoigner du courage et de la détermination de ces jeunes filles
qui travaillent très dur, dans des conditions extrêmement difficiles,
pour réussir leurs études. Les Débutantes 2013 auront
l’opportunité de participer comme bénévoles aux programmes
d’Enfants d’Asie.
F
ounded in 1991, Enfants d’Asie (Children of Asia) provides
care for close to 10,000 children, in the form of shelter,
medical care, food, school and college. Enfants d’Asie operates
humanitarian programs in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and the
Philippines for orphans, street or destitute children.
The vulnerable girls in South-East Asia are the first victims of
poverty, and violence. It is vital that these underprivileged girls
obtain an education to protect them from dangers.
Previous Debs Milana Brunel, Marie Victoire de Kergorlay,
Julia Piaton de Turckheim and Natalia Zobel, volunteers in
centers of Enfants d’Asie, can attest to the courage and
determination of these young girls work extremely hard despite
the odds, to obtain their diploma. The New Debs 2013 will
have the opportunity to participate to Enfants d’Asie’s work.

Histoire de famille : Dès son plus jeune âge Christopher Hache
rêvait d’être cuisinier. Son père tenait un restaurant : « mon père
m’a obligé à me dépasser pour être le meilleur, il fut le catalyseur
de ma formation ».
Family matter: Christopher Hache dreamt of becoming a chef
from a very early age. His father ran a restaurant. « My father
pushed me to the limits to make sure I was the best. He was the
catalyst in my personal development ».
Parcours de cuisinier : Plus tard il rejoint la brigade du fameux «
Lucas Carton », place de la Madeleine, sous l’éminent Chef Alain
Senderens. Il deviendra 3ème sous-Chef sous Frédéric Robert.
C’est au Bristol auprès du Chef Eric Fréchon que Christopher
Hache découvre l’univers d’un palace, avec un challenge :
décrocher la troisième étoile. En mars 2009, ce fut la consécration
pour Eric Fréchon et son équipe. Son goût pour les défis l’emmène
à la Grande Cascade.
Journey of a Chef: He later joined the famous Lucas Carton
brigade at the Place de la Madeleine in Paris, under
distinguished chef Alain Senderens. He became sous-chef under
Frédéric Robert. It was at the Bristol, working alongside chef
Eric Fréchon, that Christopher Hache discovered the world of
luxury hotels with the great challenge of earning a third star.

et décroche sa première étoile en 2010.

In March 2009, the long-awaited recognition came for Eric
Fréchon and his team. His next challenge took him to the
Grande Cascade. Christopher Hache at the Crillon: At only 28
years old, Christopher Hache fulfilled his dream by taking the
biggest challenge of his career. This talented young Chef took
over the reins of the kitchens of the hôtel de Crillon. In 2010,
Les Ambassadeurs Restaurant announced its first Michelin star.

Les hôtes du Bal sont les représentants de la Maison
Bucherer, du Renault Twizy et de l’Hôtel de Crillon
Ils parrainent les débuts dans le monde de la Couture et des Médias
de 20 jeunes filles venues du monde entier.
O
phélie Renouard, la créatrice du Bal, réunit la Haute Couture,
les maisons de Couture internationales et les 20 Débutantes,
accompagnées de leurs cavaliers, pour la 21ème édition du Bal.
Chaque débutante porte la robe d’un couturier différent, choisie
spécialement pour elle.
Elle est allée faire son essayage au volant du Renault Twizy
100% éléctrique !
Les débutantes portent des pièces de joaillerie de la Maison Suisse
Bucherer, qui vient d’ouvrir un magasin d’exception au cœur
du triangle d’or de Paris. Les cavaliers porteront des montres
Carl F. Bucherer.
L’Hôtel de Crillon fut le lieu d’accueil idéal du Bal de 1992 à 2012.
Il est aujourd’hui fermé pour d’importants travaux de rénovation,
pendant lesquels le Bal aura lieu à l’Automobile Club de France.
Le Bal 2015 sera l’occasion de fêter la réouverture de ce palace
parisien mythique !
La finalité du Bal est de récolter des fonds pour une association
caritative. Depuis 2009, il est donné au profit d’« Enfants d’Asie »,
dont la mission est de développer la scolarisation des jeunes filles
défavorisées d’Asie du Sud-Est.
Chaque année, les dons reçus grâce au Bal financent un an de
scolarisation d’environ 900 petites filles du Laos et de Cebu aux
Philippines, et la création d’un centre éducatif de jour.
Cet événement international est le seul Bal de débutantes français.
La présentation des Débutantes est suivie du dîner et... « le Bal ».
Cette année encore, les jeunes filles sont issues de familles
exceptionnelles, venues d’horizons et de pays divers, parmi lesquels :
le Royaume Uni, l’Allemagne, l’Italie, les Etats-Unis, l’Australie,
la Chine, le Japon, l’Inde etc.
Elles sont âgées de 16 à 21 ans. Elles sont accompagnées du cavalier
de leur choix.
La citoyenne du monde : Francesca Packer Barham
Australie. 19 ans.
Francesca : « Chessie » est anglaise du côté de son père, australienne du
côté de sa mère et elle considère l’Australie comme son pays. Son arrière
grand-père, Sir Frank Packer, a créé ACP : « Australian Consolidated
Press Magazines » qui comprend « Australian weekly » l’hebdomadaire
féminin le plus populaire du pays. Son grand-père, Kerry Packer, a
développé le groupe auquel il a ajouté « Nine Network », la chaîne de
télévision la plus performante du pays. Son père, Nicolas Barham est
un financier basé à Londres et à Monaco. La mère de Francesca, Gretel
Packer, est une philanthrope férue d’art et de la conservation des
animaux. La nature individualiste de Francesca et sa liberté d’esprit
imprègnent toutes les facettes de sa vie. « Chessie » profite actuellement
d’une année sabbatique avec d’un côté la vie trépidante de New York, sa
mode avant-gardiste et les spectacles de Broadway, et de l’autre, la vie
de la côte Ouest des Etats-Unis, ses plages et ses célébrités. Chessie
s’apprête à voyager à travers l’Europe, dont elle apprécie la diversité, la
culture et surtout l’Histoire. Lorsque Francesca est en Australie, elle
consacre son temps libre au bénévolat pour des causes très différentes :
la Croix-Rouge Australienne, Clean Up Australia Day, et le « Sydney
Theatre Company ». En 2014, Francesca commencera ses études à
l’Université de Sydney, avec trois sujets majeurs : la psychologie, les
affaires et les langues étrangères. Elle aime la musique et les arts mais
sa passion est le théâtre. Elle a participé à plusieurs productions
théâtrales, et elle s’intéresse particulièrement à tous les aspects pratiques
d’une production : les magnifiques décors, les costumes, les éclairages…
Francesca voulait porter la création d’un couturier australien et elle
a choisi Jane Hill.
Son cavalier est un ami proche, Oscar Hoare.
« La Princesse Royale indienne » : Akshita Bhanjdeo
Inde. 20 ans.
Akshita Bhanjdeo est la troisième fille de Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo,
47ème souverain de la dynastie Bhanja, issue de l’État princier de
Mayurbhanj. Sa grand-mère paternelle est Maharani Lakshmi Devi
Bharati Rajya, fille de Sa Majesté le Roi Tribhuvan du Népal. Sa mère,
Rashmi Rajyalaxmi Bhanjdeo, appartient à la famille royale de Jaisalmer,
État du Rajasthan. Sa mére a le titre de « reine de Mayurbhanj ».
Son grand-père maternel était le Maharaja Raghunath Singh Bahadur
et sa grand-mère maternelle était Maharani Mukut Rajya Lakshmi Devi,
fille du dernier Premier Ministre du Népal. Akshita se passionne pour la
politique depuis qu’elle a accompagné son père durant sa campagne dans
l’Orissa, en Inde. Elle a pu discerner la nature complexe de la plus grande
démocratie du monde. Au lycée, elle s’est portée volontaire pour Tiny
Toons Cambodge pendant trois semaines, en venant en aide à des
orphelins vivant dans des conditions désastreuses. Elle travaille à l’école
de sa mère, Ek Prayaas, pour soutenir les enfants défavorisés de Kolkata.
Tout récemment, elle s’est portée volontaire pour travailler dans un village
éco-durable du Népal. Akshita étudie les sciences politiques et les droits de
l’homme au « Bard College » de New York. Elle aime voyager partout
dans le monde mais où qu’elle se trouve, son pays lui manque toujours.
Akshita est habillée par Zuhair Murad Couture.
Son cavalier est son cousin, le Prince Chaitanya Raj Singh.

L’actrice : Juliana Canfield
Etats-Unis. 21 ans.
L’arrière grand père paternel de Juliana est Cass Canfield Sr, l’un des
« grands » du monde de l’édition américaine. Il fut président de Harper
& Row et le fondateur du célèbre « foreign affairs ». Son grand père
maternel est Sidney Howard, prix Pulitzer et « Académy Awardwinning » dramaturge, et scénariste de « Autant en emporte le vent ».
Compte tenu de ses antécédents familiaux, il va de soi que Juliana
étudie la littérature à Yale. Quand elle n’est pas plongée dans le monde
de Gabriel Garcia Marquez, d’Ernest Hemingway ou de Marcel Proust,
elle est absorbée par la lecture de son autre bible, le magazine Vogue.
Cependant, le rêve de Juliana est d’être actrice de théâtre : avec son
beau visage et sa personnalité, Juliana est née pour la scène et elle
espère jouer à Broadway.
Juliana porte une robe Oscar de la Renta. Elle connaît son cavalier
depuis toujours car il s’agit de son ami d’enfance, Sebastian Becker.
La philanthrope : Monica Chartouni
Etats-Unis. 18 ans.
Le comportement espiègle de Monica, son sourire contagieux, et sa
sociabilité ont généralement beaucoup de succès. Elle est très
populaire dans son école secondaire de Greenwich, dans le
Connecticut, et elle aime participer à des activités parascolaires avec
ses amis. Pendant son temps libre, Monica s’occupe d’enfants
défavorisés et de causes environnementales. Monica et sa sœur
Christine, inspirées par un documentaire sur les dangers de sacs en
plastique, ont acheté 250 sacs « écologiques » qu’elles ont distribués
aux habitants de leur quartier, pour les sensibiliser au problème de
l’environnement. Monica est le président de « Port Chester Carver
Center », un programme qui contribue à l’apprentissage et au
développement des enfants. Monica aimerait vivre à Paris. Depuis
qu’elle est petite fille, sa famille vient à Paris tous les ans. Le père
de Monica, Nabil Chartouni, est un grand connaisseur d’opéra, et
il fait en sorte que ses filles puissent assister aux représentations du
Palais Garnier aussi souvent que possible. Monica aime goûter
des pâtisseries françaises, découvrir les boutiques de la rue
Saint-Honoré avec sa mère, Samantha, flâner le long de la Seine et
relire « À la Recherche du Temps Perdu ». Pour Monica, Paris c’est
« home away from home ».

L’ambitieuse : Cheryl Cheong
Chine. 21 ans.
Cheryl travaille dur pour atteindre ses objectifs, qu’il s’agisse de
lancer sa propre affaire ou de pratiquer le « trekking » à travers le
monde. Cheryl suit un double cursus dans le domaine des affaires et
de la comptabilité à l’Université de gestion de Singapour. Elle pense
diriger sa propre entreprise dans quelques années. Elle se fixe
constamment de nouveaux objectifs et elle a même rejoint « l’Extreme
Sports Club » pour dépasser encore ses limites. Après une formation
sportive intense en Malaisie sur les terrains accidentés et montagneux
de Desaru, elle a tenté de franchir, en patins, 1000 km à travers la
France à l’Espagne en 30 jours. Bien que le roller soit considéré
comme un sport extrême, elle y trouve à la fois une sensation de
détente et de méditation. Cheryl pense que l’imprévu de la vie en fait
tout le charme et préfère renoncer au confort au profit de l’aventure.
Son père Bernard, médecin, est un collectionneur de montres de
renommée mondiale.

La jeune fille d’Hollywood : Romy M. David
Etats-Unis. 17 ans.
Romy est la fille de Larry David, un comédien récompensé d’un
« Emmy Award », connu comme le créateur de la série de télévision
Seinfeld et de « Curb Your Enthusiasm ». A son avis, l’homme le plus
drôle qui soit ! Sa mère est Laurie David, militante pour la défense
de l’environnement et productrice primée de « an Inconvenient truth ».
Grâce à son sourire et sa forte personnalité, Romy est souvent le
centre d’attention ! Lorsque cette californienne ne se promène pas sur
Rodéo Drive ou ne bronze pas sur Laguna Beach, elle met à profit sa
créativité : écrire des poèmes et des nouvelles, ou photographier les
paysages de Californie. Romy vit à Santa Monica, où elle étudie à la
« Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences ». Elle aimerait vivre en
Europe pour mieux apprécier les différentes cultures du vieux
continent, profiter de ses nouveautés gastronomiques, et apprendre
une nouvelle langue. Bien que Romy ne sache pas encore ce qu’elle
veut faire dans l’avenir, elle veut suivre les traces de ses parents
« faire ce que l’on aime tout en aidant les autres ».

L’écologiste : Rebecca Eu
Chine. 19 ans.
Le père de Rebecca, Richard Eu, est le PDG du Groupe Eu Yan
Sang International Ltd, une entreprise familiale spécialisée dans les
produits pour la santé. Elle est cotée à la Bourse de Singapour. Sa
mère, Mary Eu, s’est distinguée dans l’industrie de la mode, la
danse est sa passion. Rebecca est dynamique, facilement amusée, et
elle aime rire. Elle est née et a grandi à Singapour, mais vit
actuellement à Melbourne, en Australie. Ses paysages variés, de la
Grande Barrière de Corail à sa côte sauvage, lui ont inspiré de
poursuivre des études dans le domaine de l’écologie à l’Université
Monash. Chaque fois que Rebecca a le mal du pays, elle cuisine. Ce
passe-temps est devenue sa passion. L’odeur de la cuisson du pain,
le son du fouet qui bat les œufs suscitent sa nostalgie de la période
de Noël et des brunchs du dimanche à Singapour et avec sa famille.
Après son diplôme, elle envisage de retourner à Singapour

Highclear Castle, a servi de lieu de tournage à la série britannique
« Downtown Abbey ».
La matheuse : Leonora Gilmour
Royaume-Uni. 20 ans.
Leonora est l’arrière-petite-fille du duc de Buccleuch et la nièce du
duc de Northumberland. Ses parents sont très populaires à Londres,
son père est « the Honorable » Christopher Gilmour et sa mère,
Mardi, est australienne. Alors que beaucoup de filles de son âge
adorent les magazines de mode, Leonora est perpétuellement à la
recherche de solutions aux problèmes qu’elle rencontre. Son modèle
est Augusta King, comtesse Lovelace, une mathématicienne
anglaise exceptionnelle, considérée comme la première programmeuse
informatique au monde. Lovelace a été l’inspiration de Leonora qui a
entrepris des études d’ingénieur à l’Université d’Oxford, car elle est
fascinée par le potentiel de la technologie pour résoudre les problèmes
de l’univers. Leonora se rêve scientifique, mathématicienne, artiste,
ingénieur, architecte et photographe... et elle est en train d’écrire un
livre pour enfants. Elle aimerait à la fois lancer un nouveau magazine
et apprendre des systèmes et des programmes codés : Leonora est une
femme de la Renaissance moderne ! Elle voudrait découvrir l’Asie,
notamment Hong Kong, Singapour et Tokyo, les trois tigres asiatiques
des technologies de pointe, du multiculturalisme accompagné d’une
délicieuse tradition culinaire . Leonora sait toutefois qu’elle vivra un
jour à la campagne, dans sa ville natale de Somerset, ou en Ecosse,
le pays de ses ancêtres.

La polyglotte : Eva Hansen
France - Allemagne. 16 ans.
Eva est fière de ses origines franco-allemande, qu’elle affiche
joyeusement, en agitant un drapeau tricolore lors de matchs de football
des « Bleu » ou en célébrant les festivités d’Oktoberfest. Non
seulement Eva a la chance d’être exposée à plusieurs cultures grâce
à ses parents, mais elle a grandi dans un environnement artistique et
créatif. Son père, Markus Hansen, est un artiste plasticien de renom
qui a exposé ses œuvres d’art dans certains des plus célèbres musées
du monde, tels que le Guggenheim à New York, le Musée d’Art
Moderne et les Nuits Blanches de Paris. Sa mère, Valentine de
Ganay, est écrivain. Son dernier livre, « Aristo ? » s’interroge sur la
place des individus dans la société. Le personnage préféré d’Eva est
son grand-père maternel, le marquis Jean- Louis de Ganay, qui fut
maire de Courances pendant 55 ans et un héros de la Première Guerre
Mondiale et de la guerre d’Indochine, mais pour Eva, il sera toujours
papi ! Eva est étudiante au Lycée Janson de Sailly où elle va passer
son Bac. Son but serait d’aller à la « Guildhall School of Drama » à
Londres, car le théâtre est sa passion depuis l’âge de 9 ans. Avant
cela, Eva voudrait passer une année sabbatique en Inde pour y
enseigner l’éducation, car la pédagogie l’intéresse. Eva a toujours vécu
à Paris, mais elle rêve de voyager. Elle aimerait aller à Londres pour
sa vie nocturne, en Allemagne pour mieux connaître sa culture et
pratiquer l’allemand, les Etats-Unis pour ses universités et l’Amérique
du Sud pour ses grands espaces. Cela dit, Paris demeure sa ville, et
le château familial de Courances, reste cher à son cœur.

Le mannequin : Zita d’Hauteville
France. 18 ans.
Zita attribue son look exotique, son sens de l’humour et son esprit
curieux à son père français et sa mère belge. Eric d’Hauteville, le
père de Zita, travaille dans la mode. Sa mère, Isabelle de Sejournet,
est une artiste qui représente de jeunes photographes « branchés ».
Zita est pensionnaire à Paris, mais elle saisit toutes les occasions de
se rendre à Londres pour pratiquer son anglais ! Elle aimerait
explorer d’autres parties du monde, et rêve d’aller en Asie depuis
son enfance car son père revenait de voyages d’affaires avec des
récits passionnants de marchés en plein air, cuisines exotiques, et
gratte-ciel à couper le souffle. Ces histoires ont nourri l’imagination
de Zita, son goût des voyages et de l’Asie et sa fascination pour les
différents peuples et leurs cultures. Zita partage son temps libre entre
les photos de mode et ses sports préférés; la boxe, le tennis,
l’équitation et le catamaran. Grâce aux encouragements de sa mère,
Zita consacre du temps au bénévolat. Elle vient de passer 3 semaines
dans les bidonvilles de Mumbai pour y soigner des petites filles et
leur apprendre l’anglais. Ce fut une expérience incroyable qui a
changé sa perception de la vie. Zita a choisi la créatrice anglaise
Vivienne Westwood.

La princesse américaine : Kyra L. Kennedy
Etats-Unis. 18 ans.
Kyra est la fille de Robert Kennedy Jr., un avocat et militant de
l’environnement et Mary Kennedy, une architecte d’intérieur. Son
grand-père est Robert « Bobby » Kennedy Sr., le 64e procureur
général américain qui a servi sous son grand- oncle, John F. Kennedy,
le 35ème président des États-Unis. Kyra est le deuxième enfant de
quatre et son père est l’aîné de 11 enfants, d’où le sentiment de
responsabilité de Kyra envers ses jeunes frères et sœurs. Son modèle
est sa grand-mère, Ethel Kennedy, pour la façon dont elle gère tous
les aspects de sa vie avec aisance et grâce. Pour Kyra, le vêtement
n’est pas quelque chose que vous portez, c’est un mode de vie et une
forme d’expression de soi. Ses inspirations sont partout : du tissu de
la robe préférée de sa grand-mère aux couleurs vibrantes des fleurs
d’un printemps tant attendu. S’habiller est une façon pour Kyra de se
forger une identité. Kyra aspire à être une créatrice de mode. Elle a
suivi des cours à la « Fashion Institute of Technology » à New York
et a fait un stage chez Dior à Paris. Sa famille est très active dans la
défense des causes humanitaires et environnementales et Kyra
consacre une part de son temps à la philanthropie. Elle a travaillé

pour son père à la « Waterkeeper Alliance » pour protéger les cours
d’eau internationaux contre la pollution, et pour l’organisation à but
non lucratif de son oncle « Best Buddies », pour aider les enfants
qui sont intellectuellement et physiquement handicapés. La
philanthropie lui donne une plus grande perspective de la vie et
elle compte lancer sa propre association à but non lucratif dans
l’avenir. Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy la grande-tante de Kyra,
fut consacrée « débutante de l’année » en 1947.

L’artiste : Alison Lee
Chine. 22 ans.
Alison, née à Hong Kong, élevée en Angleterre, a étudié aux États-Unis.
Aussi cherche t-elle à retenir le meilleur des trois cultures. La jeune
« globe-trotter » incarne l’énergie de Hong Kong, les traditions du
monde britannique et l’esprit aventureux des Américains. Alison est
diplômée de Princeton, où elle a étudié l’histoire et les études orientales.
Elle anime une émission hebdomadaire de musique électronique à la
station de radio locale. Elle a récemment déménagé à Hong Kong pour
renouer avec sa ville natale et ses racines familiales. Alison contribue
à des projets philanthropiques en faveur des arts. Elle crée également
ses propres œuvres particulièrement originales, notamment des coiffures
à partir de plusieurs variétés de plumes. L’objectif d’Alison est d’élargir
son horizon, avec Istanbul comme première étape ! Elle espère pouvoir
se plonger dans la richesse de cette culture, découvrir leur cuisine, et
se perdre dans les marchés en plein air.
Pour sa première expérience de la Haute Couture, Alison est vêtue

Le cerveau : Lauren Marbe
Royaume-Uni. 17 ans.
Lauren Marbe allie charme et très brillante intelligence ! On a salué
dans les médias son QI supérieur à Einstein. La jolie blonde a atteint 161
au test du Mensa, ce qui la rend supérieure à certains des esprits les
plus vénérés du monde. Néanmoins, Lauren est une jeune fille de 17
ans d’Essex. Elle aime chanter devant son miroir, se faire faire les ongles
et sortir avec des copains. Elle va passer son A-levels au « Trinity School
Sixth Form », où elle se spécialise dans les mathématiques, la physique
et la psychologie. Lauren aimerait étudier l’architecture à Cambridge,
mais l’un de ses rêves est de s’installer à Hollywood et devenir la
nouvelle Beyoncé ! Durant son temps libre, Lauren prend des cours de
comédie, de chant et de danse. Elle dissipe comme personne l’idée que
les blondes seraient stupides et affirme que son plus grand atout n’est pas
son cerveau, mais sa famille ! Sa jeune sœur Grace, sa mère Susan,
professeur à l’école primaire, et son père, David, chauffeur de taxi
londonien. Lauren va vivre son moment « Cendrillon » au Bal.

Son cavalier français est Théodore Rousseau qui partage beaucoup
de ses passions dans la vie.
La danseuse : Ashna Mehta
Inde. 17 ans.
Dès son plus jeune âge, Ashna fut attirée par le monde de la danse. Au
cours des dix dernières années, elle a affirmé ses compétences dans les
danses indiennes classiques, en particulier, la forme Kathak de l’art.
Elle s’est produite en fin d’études secondaires et durant trois heures au
Symphony Space de New York. Sa passion lui inspire d’enseigner son
art aux enfants défavorisés de son pays, avec l’espoir d’accroître leur
confiance en eux et de leur inculquer un sentiment d’accomplissement.
L’argent recueilli l’an dernier a permis d’accorder 14 bourses d’études
et de rénover le toit de l’école. Étant donné son intérêt pour les activités
humanitaires et les médias, Ashna envisage d’étudier dès 2014, la
communication et les relations internationales. Son but ? Sensibiliser
l’opinion publique sur les violations des Droits de l’Homme dans le
monde entier. Elle espère séjourner à Alep, Téhéran et Ankara : des
lieux stratégiques et en mutation. La passion et le talent d’Ashna font
de ses parents, Payal et Dipu Mehta, des parents comblés.

La parisienne : Marie de Rohan Chabot
France. 17 ans.
Marie espère suivre les traces de son père, Emmanuel de Rohan
Chabot, descendant de SAR la duchesse d’Angoulême, et faire preuve
de ses qualités d’entrepreneur. Elle admire l’ambition, la discipline et les

de la nouvelle génération : « East meets West ». Aya étudie la sociologie
à Harvard et espère entamer une carrière dans le marketing et les
relations publiques au niveau international. Lorsque elle n’est pas

du « Kappa Alpha Theta ». Son attirance pour la philanthropie est une

The patrons of le Bal are the Swiss Maison Bucherer,
the Renault Twizy and the Hôtel de Crillon.
Their representatives host the Couture and Media premieres
of twenty young girls from around the world.
O
phélie Renouard, its creator, unites Haute Couture and
Couture houses and 20 debutantes and their cavaliers for the 21st
edition of le Bal des Débutantes.
Each debutante wears a Couture gown from a different designer
chosen especially for her. On the way to her fittings, each debutante
had a chance to drive the full-electric Renault Twizy
For le Bal 2013, the young girls are personally outfitted with jewels from
the Swiss Maison Bucherer, the jeweler of le Bal, which just opened
the world’s largest watch and jewellery luxury store in Paris.
The cavaliers wear luxury watches from Carl F. Bucherer.
The Hôtel de Crillon was the ideal venue of le Bal from 1992 to 2012.
It is currently closed for major renovations while le Bal will be held at
the Automobile Club de France.
Le Bal 2015 will be the occasion to celebrate the inauguration of the
newly renovated Crillon!
The purpose of le Bal is to raise funds for Charity. Since 2009, it
benefited “Enfants d’Asie”, a charity that develops education for
disadvantaged girls in Southeast Asia. Every year, le Bal was able to
finance the education of more than 900 underprivileged girls and create
a safe daycare center in Laos and Cebu, Philippines.
This international event is the only French debutante ball. The
presentation of the debutantes is followed by dinner and… “le Bal.”
Once again, the young girls hail from exceptional families with diverse
background, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the United
States, Australia, China, Japan, India etc.
They range from 16 to 22 years old, and are accompanied by their
chosen cavaliers.
The Global Citizen: Francesca Packer Barham
Australia. 19 years old.
Francesca is English on her father’s side, Australian on her mother’s,
and her home is Australia. Her great-grandfather, Sir Frank Packer,
who started ACP: Australian Consolidated Press Magazines, which
includes the country’s most popular magazine, The Australian Women’s
Weekly. Her grandfather, Kerry Packer, expanded their media
outreach to include the Nine Network, Australia’s most successful
television channel. Francesca’s father, Nicolas Barham, is a financier
in London and Monaco. Her mother, Gretel Packer, is a philanthropist
of the arts and animal conservation. Francesca’s individualistic nature
and free-spirit attitude permeates in all facets of her life. Francesca is
currently enjoying her gap year, where she is relishing the fast-paced
life, trend-setting fashion, and award-winning Broadway shows of New
York City in the East all the way to the sunshine, beaches, and
celebrities of California in the West of America. She will travel across
Europe and savor in its diversity, rich culture, and incredible history.
When Francesca is in Australia, she spends her leisure time volunteering
for different causes, such as the Red Cross Australia, Clean Up Australia
Day, and Sydney Theatre Company. Francesca hopes of continuing the
family tradition of contributing to society. In 2014, she plans to
commence her studies at the University of Sydney, where she will triple
major in psychology, business, and languages. She has great passion for
music and the arts, and participated in a number of theatrical
productions, where she is quite keen on the beautiful sets, costumes,
lighting, and other aspects of production.

“The Indian Royal”: Akshita Bhanjdeo
India. 20 years old.
Akshita Bhanjdeo is the third daughter of Praveen Chandra
Bhanjdeo, the 47th ruler of the Bhanja dynasty. Her paternal
grandmother is Maharani Bharati Rajya Lakshmi Devi,
daughter of His Majesty King Tribhuvan of Nepal. Her mother is
Rashmi Rajyalaxmi Bhanjdeo, who is from the royal family of
Jaisalmer, a state in Rajasthan. Her mother’s title is Queen of
Mayurbhanj. Her maternal grandfather was Maharaja Raghunath
Singh Bahadur and her maternal great-grandmother was
Maharani Mukut Rajya Lakshmi Devi, daughter of the last prime
minister of Nepal. For Akshita, the defining moment that changed the
trajectory of her young life was when she accompanied her father on
his political campaign in Orissa in India and witnessed the complex
and difficult nature of leading the world’s largest democracy. In high
school, she volunteered for Tiny Toons Cambodia for three weeks,
aiding the vast number of orphans who live in dire conditions. She
then went on to work at her mother’s school, Ek Prayaas, to assist
underprivileged children in Kolkata; and, just recently, volunteered on
an eco-sustainable village in Nepal for a month. Akshita is studying
political science and human rights at Bard College in New York.
No matter where she is, Akshita is always longing to go home to India.

The Broadway Star: Juliana Canfield
USA. 21 years old.
Juliana’s paternal great-grandfather is Cass Canfield Sr., an
American publishing titan who was the chairman and president of
Harper & Row and founder of the journal publication Foreign Affairs.
Her maternal great-grandfather is Sidney Howard, a Pulitzer Prize
and Academy Award-winning screenwriter and playwright, most
known for his screenplay Gone with the Wind. Given her ancestral
background in the literary world, she chose to study literature at Yale
University. When she’s not immersing herself in the world of Gabriel
Garcia Marquez, Ernest Hemmingway, and Marcel Proust, she is most
likely reading her other literary bible, Vogue magazine. Juliana’s goal
is to be an actress. Juliana hopes to apply her talent in writing to
acting, as she dreams of performing on Broadway. She currently
resides in New Haven, Connecticut and hopes to relocate where there

The Humanitarian: Monica Chartouni
American. 18 years old.
Monica’s playful demeanour, infectious smile, and sociable presence
usually win over the crowd. She is quite popular at her high school in
Greenwich, Connecticut and enjoys participating in extra-curricular
activities and community service with friends. Monica spends most of
her free time volunteering and is partial to working with
underprivileged kids and environmental causes. Monica, along with
her sister Christine, was one day inspired by a documentary on the
perils of plastic bags. They bought 250 eco-friendly bags and handed
them to people in their neighbourhood! Their goal was to impart some
environmental education to the general public. Monica is the current
president of Port Chester Carver Center’s After School Program, a
program which aims to contribute to the learning and healthy
development of children. Monica would love to move to Paris in the
future. Ever since she was a little girl, her family would come to Paris
every year. Monica’s father, Nabil Chartouni, is a very
knowledgeable and dedicated connoisseur of opera, and insists on
taking his daughters to see the latest opera showing at Palais Garnier
as often as possible. Monica likes the Parisian pastries, perusing
through the shops on rue St. Honoré with her mother, Samantha, for
the latest fashion trends, strolling along the Seine, and re-reading
Marcel Proust’s À La Recherche du Temps Perdu. Paris is essentially

The Achiever: Cheryl Cheong
China. 21 years old.
Cheryl is ambitious. She works hard to fuel her big but simple dreams
like one day starting her own business and trekking across the globe.
Cheryl is currently undertaking a double degree in business and
accounting at the Singapore Management University with the desire
of having her own business up and running in a few years’ time. She is
constantly setting up new goals for herself and recently joined the
Extreme Sports Club to push herself to new limits. After preparing herself
through intensive sports training in Malaysia where she skated on the
rough and hilly terrains of Desaru, she attempted to skate 1000km
across the borders from France to Spain under 30 days. Although inline
skating can be an extreme sport, she finds the harmonious sounds of
roller blades against pavement and the flowing motion of the sport
relaxing and meditative. Cheryl believes that the unpredictable journey
of life is really where the fun is, and she hopes to continually establish
and achieve new goals outside of her comfort zone. Her father,

Romy is the daughter of Larry David, an Emmy Award-winning
comedian, best known as the creator of Seinfeld and Curb Your
Enthusiasm and, in her view, one of the funniest men alive today!
Her mother is Laurie David, an environmental activist and Academy
Award-winning producer of An Inconvenient Truth. With her radiant
smile and vibrant personality, Romy is often the center of attention!
When this Californian native is not shopping on Rodeo Drive or
sunbathing on Laguna Beach, she is most likely partaking in activities
where she can utilize her creative sensibilities, such as writing endearing
poems and short stories or photographing the majestic California
landscape. Romy is currently living in Santa Monica, California where
she attends the renowned Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences.

Rebecca’s father, Richard Eu, is the Group CEO of Eu Yan Sang
International Ltd., a family company based on consumer healthcare
that is listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore, and is also a blues and
jazz singer enthusiast. Her mother, Mary Eu, is a trilingual veteran of
the fashion industry and an avid ballroom dancer. Rebecca is vibrant,
easily amused, and loves to giggle. She was born and raised in
Singapore, but currently lives on the other side of the world in Melbourne,
Australia. Australia’s rich and diverse landscapes, from the Great Barrier
Reef to its coastal wilderness, have inspired Rebecca to pursue a field in
environmentalism at Monash University, as she loves to explore the wild
places of the earth and protect the natural environment. Whenever
Rebecca feels homesick in Melbourne, she tends to pull out a rolling pin
and starts to bake. At first a hobby that was lovingly endorsed by her

popular in the London scene. Her father is the Honorable
Christopher Gilmour and her mother, Mardi, is from Australia.
While many girls her age are worshiping fashion magazines and
gushing over teen heartthrobs, Leonora is perpetually inquisitive and
persistent on finding solutions to every problem she encounters.
Lenora’s role model is Augusta King, Countess of Lovelace, an
exceptional English mathematician and widely considered the world’s
first computer programmer. Consequently, Lovelace was Leonora’s
inspiration to study engineering at the University of Oxford, as she is

France – Germany. 16 years old.
Eva is proud of her Franco-German background, which she happily displays
while waving a drapeau tricolore during “Les Bleu” soccer matches or
while celebrating Oktoberfest festivities. Not only was Eva fortunate enough
to be exposed to the diverse cultures of her parentage, but she also grew up
in an artistic and creative environment since infancy. Her father, Markus
Hansen, is a renowned visual artist who exhibited his works of art at some
of the most famous venues around the world, such as the Guggenheim in
NYC, the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, and les Nuit Blanches in Paris.
Eva’s mother, Valentine de Ganay, is an author, whose new book, Aristo?,
questions the place of individuals in society through personal experiences.
Last, but not least, her favorite character is her grandfather, Marquis JeanLouis de Ganay, who was the mayor of Courances for 55 years and a war
hero for both World War II and the Indochina War, but to her, he will always
be papi! Eva is currently a student at Lycee Janson de Sailly where she is
going for her AbiBac. Her goal would be to study at the Guildhall School
of Drama in London, as theater became her passion since she was 9 years

strong values of the English, and the adventurous spirit of Americans. Alison
is a newly-minted graduate of Princeton University, where she studied
history and eastern studies and hosted a weekly electronic music show at
the local radio station. She recently relocated to Hong Kong, as she longed
to reconnect to her native city and the warmth and loving environment of
her family roots. Besides participating in philanthropic projects for the arts,
Alison also enjoys creating her own eccentric art pieces, especially feather
headdresses made out of a variety of plumes and lithographs derived from
intaglio printmaking. Currently, Alison’s goal is to broaden her horizon,

Sejournet, is an artist who represents new and up-and-coming
photographers. Zita is currently attending a boarding school in Paris, but
always jumps at the chance to travel to London to practice her English! She
would love to explore other parts of the world, and has dreamt of going to
Asia. As a child, her father’s return from his business trips was followed by
tales of colorful street markets, exotic foods, and breath-taking skyscrapers.

brain test, which makes her smarter than some of the world’s most revered
minds. Nevertheless, Lauren is just a typical 17-year-old girl from Essex.
She likes singing in the mirror, getting French manicures, and going to
parties with friends. She is currently doing her A-levels at Trinity School
Sixth Form, where she is focusing on math, art, physics, and psychology.

Kyra is the daughter of Robert Kennedy Jr., an activist and attorney, and
Mary Kennedy, an architectural designer. Her grandfather is Robert
“Bobby” Kennedy, Sr., the 64th U.S. Attorney General who served under
her grand-uncle, John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States.
She is the second child of four and her father is the eldest out of 11 children;
hence, Kyra’s obligation towards her younger siblings runs in the family.
Kyra looks up to her grandmother, Ethel Kennedy, for inspiration as she
manages every aspect of her life with grace and poise. For Kyra, clothing is
not something you wear, it is a lifestyle and form of self-expression. Her
inspirations are everywhere, from the fabric of her grandmother’s favorite
dress to the vibrant colors of the blooming flowers of a long-awaited spring.
Dressing her own way is about creating an identity and that is empowering

From a very young age, Ashna’s active imagination and love of fantasy
drew her to the world of dance. For the past ten years, she has been honing
her skills in classical Indian dances, specifically, the art form Kathak, and
recently did her three-hour high school graduation performance at
Symphony Space in New York City… her own personal ode to India. Her
passion has inspired her to teach dance to underprivileged children in India,
with the hopes of not only increasing their self-confidence, but also to instill
in them a sense of accomplishment. All the money raised goes towards their
education, and just last year she was able to grant 14 scholarships along
with the renovation of the school’s roof. With deep interests in both
humanitarian pursuits and media, Ashna plans to study communications
and international relations at university next year. Her ultimate goal is to
become an international news broadcaster, as she wants to bring awareness
on human rights violations being committed around the world. She hopes
to spend a lot of time in Aleppo, Tehran, and Ankara - all prominent
locations on the verge of change. Ashna’s passion and talents have made
her parents, Payal and Dipu Mehta, the proudest parents in the world.

her first year of studying law at London Metropolitan University where
she hopes to follow in the footsteps of her father, Emmanuel de Rohan
Chabot, a French descendant of HRH the Duchess of Angouleme,
to become a successful and risk-taking entrepreneur. Marie has acquired
the ambition, discipline, and leadership qualities from her father, and
aspires to use these skills to achieve her goals. Marie possesses her
irresistible charm from her mother, Eléonore de Galard, a musical
producer and wife of French singer Grégoire Boissenot. She has a keen

“My father, Prince Alessandro ‘Dado’ Ruspoli, lived as a playboy

name of a fairy and is in total sovereignty with a humbleness that
defines her disposition. An impassioned brunette, she lived in a 16thcentury palace in Rome until the age of 11. She attended Lycée
Français and is able to confess in several languages her regrets, young
remorse, and fresh ambitions. Melusine, the only daughter of the last
jetsetter of all times and larger than life ladies’ man, feels so close to

Piaf. Zoé was born in Germany, but grew up in many different cities.
Traveling since infancy birthed her love and curiosity for different
cultures. She was fortunate to experience the changing scenery, absorb
the rich and diverse languages, and interact with wonderful people. She
feels very united with the world thanks to the wonderful trips she made
at a very young age. Zoé is currently in London where she is studying
Fashion Design at Istituto Marangoni and plans to continue in the world

Japan. 19 years old.
Aya is the granddaughter of Kenzo Tange, a visionary architect, a
Pritzker prize-winning, who helped define Japan’s post-WWII emergence
into Modernism. Aya was born in Tokyo and raised in California.
Defined by her delicate features and jet-black hair along with her
outgoing personality and fun-loving Californian spirit, she is the
absolute embodiment of “east meets west.” Aya is currently studying
sociology at Harvard and hopes to pursue a career in marketing or public
relations in the future. When she’s not immersing herself in her studies,
she’s either playing for the Women’s Club Volleyball team or socializing
with her Kappa Alpha Theta sisters. Her commitment to philanthropy
and social responsibility derives from her family. Aya dedicates her free
time giving back to the community, such as raising funds for local
charities in California or rebuilding homes affected by the 2011
earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The It Girl: Monica Urquijo Zobel
Philippines, 18 years old.
Monica is the granddaughter of Jamie Zobel de Ayala, prominent
philanthropist and former president and chairman of the family’s
business, the Ayala Corporation, one of the largest and oldest
conglomerate in the Philippines that deals mainly with investments, real
estate, banking, renewable energy, and telecommunication. Monica
comes from a very large family, she is one of 24 cousins! Both the
Urquijos and Zobels families have strong ties to the Philippines
community. Monica participates in charitable work through her family’s
business, as well as Habitat for Humanity. Furthermore, the Ayala
Corporation created many nonprofit organizations and is credited for
having contributed to the social-economic development of the Philippines.
Monica has lived in many countries: She went to boarding school in the
United States and also attended school in England. She frequently travels
to Spain, the Philippines, England, and New York. She is currently living
in the United States, but hopes to be based around Europe in the future.
She is planning to study communications and art history, and hopes to
embark a career in broadcasting. Monica’s sister, Paloma, was a Deb in
le Bal 2008, and Monica wanted to take part ever since.

“The English Royal”: Lady Amelia Windsor
UK. 18 years old.
Lady Amelia Windsor, 18, is an English Royal. She is the daughter of
George Windsor, Earl of St Andrews, and Sylvana Windsor, Countess
of St Andrews, cousins of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and
Prince Harry of Wales, great great-granddaughter of King George V,
and 26th in line to the succession of the British throne. Amelia is currently
studying art history, Latin, and French at the exclusive all-girl boarding
school St. Mary’s, and wishes to pursue Latin at the university level.
Besides her passion for languages, she loves the performing arts, most
notably acting, and has been involved in numerous school plays. Amelia
aspires to work in fashion in the future and has fulfilled her dream of
working at different Haute Couture houses and becoming fully immersed
in all aspects of the industry. She loves to dabble and experiment with

hristian Louboutin naît à Paris dans les années 60 et grandit
entre une mère et trois soeurs qui forgent son goût de l’absolu
féminin. Marqué enfant par un dessin d’escarpin barré d’un trait
rouge, destiné à prohiber les talons aiguilles des parquets du
musée des arts Africains et Océaniens, il poursuit toute sa vie
cette quête de la ligne parfaite, ornée depuis 1992 de la semelle
écarlate qui rend ses créations reconnaissables entre toutes.
Il fait de sa passion un métier en apprenant la technique chez
Charles Jourdan, et collabore ensuite avec les plus grands noms
de la mode.
En 1992, il fonde sa Maison et ouvre sa première boutique.

hristian Louboutin was born in Paris in the 1960s and grew
up with a mother and three sisters who forged his taste for
everything absolute feminine. Inspired as a child by a drawing
of a stiletto crossed with a red line intended to prohibit stilettos
on the floors of the Museum of African and Oceanic Art, he
continued throughout his life the quest for the perfect silhouette.
Decorated since 1992, his red soles are the most recognizable
among all his creations.
He turned his passion into a profession learning the technique
first from Charles Jourdan, and then worked with the biggest
names in fashion.
In 1992, he founded the House of Christian Louboutin and opened
his first shop. Seventy-eight boutiques followed.
In 2012, the House of Christian Louboutin celebrated its 20th
anniversary. A book published by Rizzoli and a major exhibition at
the Design Museum in London, then at the Design Exchange in
Toronto, celebrated two decades of creation.
That same year, he became the first « Guest Creator » in the history
of Crazy Horse.
The creator also played his own character in a short film produced
by the Disney Studios. On this occasion, he reinvented the mythical
slipper of Cinderella. In 2014, as a natural extension of his love
for femininity, the designer will launch a beauty line.
