Restructuring FIT
A survey was sent out to all members. This is a quote from the first message
sent out on June 19th.
“FIT would like to obtain the views of all member associations on the
OrgDevCom’s recommendations by conducting a survey. The survey is sent out
in a separate mail. It would be greatly appreciated if you could complete the
survey by 15 August.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE SURVEY SHOULD BE ANSWERED BY
THE CHAIR/ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD SO THAT FIT RECEIVES
ONLY ONE ANSWER FROM EACH MEMBER ASSOCIATION.
The aim is to ascertain the majority view of the FIT members and then, on this
basis, redraft the FIT Bylaws so that – we hope – a new version can be adopted
at the next Statutory Congress in Berlin in August 2014. Further consultation will
take place once the results of the current survey are available, and members will
be kept informed of developments and proposals in preparation for the
discussions at Congress. It is essential that members participate in this
preparation and the discussions at Congress, as FIT is your organisation and
must cater for your needs.

The first IAPTI international conference is a one-day event October 5, 2013 with
18 sessions held in three parallel rooms. A unique highlight of the conference, a
round table on international rates, will be an unprecedented forum for a
debate. The day after the conference is devoted to discussion, networking, and
enjoying London from the translators’ perspective.
Cultural mediators in Europe 1750-1950
The research groups “Translation and intercultural transfer” and “Cultural
History since 1750” of the KU Leuven organise an international colloquium on
“Cultural mediators in Europe 1750-1950”, June 5-7 2014 in Leuven, Belgium.
Proposals of 300 words approximately (English or French) and a short CV should
be submitted to the organizers ([email protected]) before
October 1st 2013.

“Nous menons un sondage afin d’obtenir l’opinion de toutes les associations
membres sur les recommandations du Comité. Le sondage est distribué dans un
courriel distinct .

Nous vous serions très reconnaissants de répondre au sondage d’ici le 15 août.
Il importe que la réponse au sondage soit fournie par
le président/au nom du conseil afin que la FIT reçoive
une seule réponse de chaque association membre.
Nous voulons connaître l’avis de la majorité des membres de la FIT, puis
remanier les Statuts en conséquence dans l’espoir qu’une nouvelle version
puisse être adoptée au prochain Congrès statutaire à Berlin en août 2014. Une
fois les résultats du sondage obtenus, d’autres consultations suivront et les
membres seront informés de l’évolution du projet et des propositions en
prévision des discussions au Congrès. Il est essentiel que les membres
participent à ces préparatifs et aux discussions lors du Congrès, puisque la FIT
est leur organisation et doit répondre à leurs besoins.”
