Job Posting: Full-Time Program Manager, Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit Job Description The Municipality of Chatham-Kent has an opening for a permanent full-time Program Manager of Public Health. This position reports directly to the Director of Public Health. The Program Manager leads a team of staff, guiding and inspiring a dedicated workforce in the efficient delivery of public health services, and shapes a workplace culture founded on trust and transparency. The Program Manager provides public health leadership to a multidisciplinary team of professionals, para-professionals, and support staff, working collectively to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization. All public health competencies apply to the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, supervision, and management of public health programs and services supporting the requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards and the Health Protection and Promotion Act. Job Posting: Temporary Full-Time Public Health Dietitian, North Bay Parry Sound District Position Summary The Public Health Dietitian will work collaboratively on the multidisciplinary Healthy Living Team to meet the Chronic Disease Prevention requirement of the Ontario Public Health Standards. The Public Health Dietitian will research, plan, implement and evaluate a range of nutrition health promotion programs, specific to the adult and community populations. Areas of focus will include workplaces, food security, community based food skills programs, Diabetes type 2 prevention and other community food initiatives. Event: Pre and Probiotics Sessions, Dietitians of Canada Register now for Dietitians of Canada’s pre and probiotics sessions coming this January 30th and 31st Leading expert Natasha Haskey will be presenting on pre and probiotics in Ontario in the new year. Register by January 10th for the early bird rate and save! This popular session is coming to Ontario live in Toronto on January 30th and in Sudbury on January 31st and across the province via OTN. This session has already been presented to dietitians in the West, and 85% of attendees have rated this session as above average to excellent and strongly agree that the information is current, balanced and supported by evidence. All have agreed that the presentation had practical value for their practice. Here is a sample of the feedback received from previous presentations: A very thorough review of the topic that included regulation and current evidence based products. A good balance of science and information I can use in practice. Natasha was extremely well-organized, clear and practical. I loved how she took an educational approach with her interactive elements to get us thinking about how to use the information. I can see how her months of preparation really paid off in her slides. She saved me hours and hours of reading, evaluating and summarizing research. Natasha Haskey, MSc, RD is a leading expert in the field of pre and probiotics and she will provide you with a deeper understanding of the research supporting the use of pre and probiotics in the prevention and management of GI diseases like IBS, IBD and H. pylori infection. She will explain the Canadian regulations that impact product availability, dosage, packaging, storage and use in high-risk populations. The report looked at sex, gender identity, visible minorities, disability and sexual orientation in senior management and on governance boards of these institutions. PRESENTERS Ratna Omidvar Ratna Omidvar is president of Maytree, a private foundation known for its work on poverty reduction, immigrant integration, diversity and inclusion. Ratna is the chair of the board of directors of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC) and of Connect Legal, and the co-chair of DiverseCity. She also serves as a director of the Canadian Club of Toronto, Samara and the Environics Institute. In 2006, Ratna was appointed to the Order of Ontario. In 2010, the Globe and Mail profiled Ratna as its Nation Builder of the Decade for Citizenship. In 2011, she was appointed to the Order of Canada. Dr. Samir Sinha Dr. Samir Sinha is a passionate and respected advocate for the needs of older adults. Dr. Sinha currently serves as the director of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University Health Network Hospitals in Toronto. In 2012, he was appointed by the Government of Ontario to serve as the expert lead of the Ontario's Seniors Strategy. He is also an assistant professor in the departments of medicine, family and community medicine, and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto and an assistant professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also serves as the chair of the Health Professionals Advisory Committee of the Toronto Central LHIN, and is a medical advisor to the Toronto Central CCAC.
