Créé début 1998 sous le patronyme de
MILLENNIUM,ce groupe périgourdin s’oriente
rapidement vers un Power Metal très inspiré
par MEGADETH et METALLICA mais
également abreuvé d’influences diverses allant
de RAINBOW à Ozzy OSBOURNE. Après un
premier CD (démo) autoproduit sous ce nom
en 99, ils optent pour celui de PSYTRONIX et
se lancent dans la réalisation d’un véritable
premier album. C’est ainsi que neuf titres
seront mis en boite entre la fin 99 et le début
2000. Après un changement de bassiste,
l’album sera terminé à la fin de l’hiver et sera
pressé en petite quantité pour démarcher les
médias et les maisons de disques. Au
printemps, PSYTRONIX sera signé par
Brennus et le disque, remasterisé, sortira sous
cette marque dès la rentrée suivante. Adepte
du Power Metal puissant des années 90,
PSYTRONIX nous offre ici une riche
combinaison de plans carrés et de riffs
tranchants servis par une section rythmique
ronflante et une voix particulièrement adaptée
à la juste agressivité du style. Après quelques
écoutes, on se rend très vite compte, pour
notre plus grand plaisir, que les morceaux
nous restent profondément gravés dans la
tête.
Created in early 1998 as MILLENNIUM,
this band from the Périgord immediately
approached a kind of Power Metal inspired by
MEGADETH and METALLICA, that also
included several different influences from
RAINBOW to Ozzy OSBOURNE. After a selfproduced first CD (sampler) in 1999, the band
name transformed to PSYTRONIX and they
focused on the recording of a true debut
album. This way, nine songs were recorded
between late 1999 and early 2000. The bass
player changed at that time and the band
could finish the recording at the end of the
Winter, pressing only a few promotional copies
that were sent to the media and record labels.
During Spring, PSYTRONIX signed with
Brennus, and this remastered edition of the
CD was issued the following Autumn. As true
fans of 90’s Power Metal, PSYTRONIX
performs a rich blend of square and sharp riffs
supported by a powerful rhythm section and a
particularly well chosen voice for the
aggressive style they develop. After listening a
few times to their music, it becomes obvious
(and very pleasant) that the themes remain in
the mind for a long time.
