Presently, in Mexico and everywhere there exists emphasis in the importance of
multidisciplinary research. Nevertheless, it happens frequently that interaction between
scientists in different disciplines is difficult because of several factors. In our case,
working in the field of asymmetric synthesis of both natural and unnatural amino acids
has facilitated collaboration with biochemists, medical doctors, physiologists, etc.
