“The
century is the Asian Age” has been heard for a long time. Now,
developing countries in the Asian Pacific Region have been increasing their
energy consumption in accordance with their growing economies. Natural gas
use is no exception! In particular, it is quite certain that China and India,
which currently, by virtue of their population size (not economic size) are
consuming huge amount of energy (mostly coal), will change into major
natural gas importing nations in the near future. This means that natural
gas importation by these two highly populated countries will have a
great/huge impact on the supply and demand balance in Asia. Simultaneously,
long-term supply and demand forecasts can be estimated. including the future
completion of LNG projects that are now being planned or studied in the
region. This report will make it clear what is going on in Japan’s LNG
market and what subjects need be overcome.

RESUME
Le 21ème siècle paraît être le siècle de l’ Asie. En raison d’ un fort développement
économique, les pays en voie de développement de l’ Asie-Pacifique connaissent
actuellement une croissance importante de consommation d’ énergie. La part de
consommation en Gaz Naturel n’ en est pas exclue. Avec leur immense population, la
Chine et l’ Inde représentent une part importante de la consommation d’ énergie, et s’
apprêtent à devenir des pays importateurs en gaz naturel. Et cela peut avoir un
impact important sur l’ équilibre entre l’ offre et la demande en Asie Par ailleurs,
nous verrons naître de nouveaux projets GNL dans l’ Asie-Pacifique, et c’ est dans ce
contexte que nous serons amenés à présenter une perspective générale de cette
évolution sans le domaine des projets GNL. Et par la suite, c’ est en relevant les
points essentiels de cette transformation du marché en consommation de GNL que
nous mettrons en relief les obstacles à surmonter dans un proche avenir.
