Dear Sir/Madam,
SUBJECT: DETERMINATION OF CATCH LIMITS FOR YELLOWFIN TUNA UNDER RESOLUTION
16/01
IOTC Circular 2016-077, which was transmitted on 31st October 2016, called each CPCs with fishing vessels of 24
meters overall length and over, and those under 24 meters if they fish outside the EEZ of their flag State, targeting tuna
and tuna like species in the Indian Ocean, to:


firstly, identify which fleets contain vessels that fall under the condition above; and,
Secondly, submit the catch limits applicable for each gear.
To date, only one CPC, the European Union, has confirmed their catch limit. In view of the urgency to derive these
catch limitations, the IOTC Secretariat has taken the liberty to prepare the following table, which sets out the catch
limits for CPCs in accordance to information available to us, through the submission of total catch data made by CPCs
under Resolution 15/02 (previously Resolution 10/02).

CPCs not represented in the above table have either reported catches of yellowfin tuna that are below the applicable
threshold or have not reported any catches of yellowfin tuna in the reference year, 2014.
If any CPCs are not in agreement with the figures provided in the above table, we shall be happy to discuss further with
the concerned CPCs so that we can conclude this exercise before the date of application of Resolution 16/01.

OBJET : DÉTERMINATION DES LIMITES DE CAPTURES POUR L’ALBACORE AU TITRE DE LA
RÉSOLUTION 16/01
La Circulaire de la CTOI 2016-077, qui a été transmise le 31 octobre 2016, a appelait chaque CPC ayant des navires de
pêche d'une longueur hors tout de 24 mètres et de moins de 24 mètres s'ils pêchent à l'extérieur de la ZEE de leur État
du pavillon, dans l'océan Indien, à :


identifier quelles flottes contiennent des navires qui répondent aux critères ci-dessus ;
soumettre les limites de capture applicables pour chaque engin.
À ce jour, une seule CPC, l'Union européenne, a confirmé sa limite de capture. Compte tenu de l'urgence à déterminer
ces limites de captures, le Secrétariat de la CTOI a pris la liberté de préparer le tableau suivant, qui établit les limites de
captures des CPC, conformément aux informations dont nous disposons, à savoir les données de captures totales que les
CPC soumettent au titre de la Résolution 15/02 (antérieurement Résolution 10/02).
