I have some good news!
J’ai des bonnes nouvelles !
We all remember the train derailment, the
explosion and the fire in Gogama in 2015. Well
this is 2016 and finally the fish testing results are
in, just in time for the opening of pickerel season.
On se souvient du déraillement de train, de
l’explosion et du gros feu à Gogama en 2015.
On est en 2016 et finalement les résultats des
tests de toxicité des poissons sont arrivés ; juste à
temps pour l'ouverture de la pêche au doré.
The Sudbury & District Health Unit has worked in
close collaboration with the Ontario Ministry of
the Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry
of Natural Resources and Forestry, Environment
and Climate Change Canada and Health Canada to
assess the potential impact on the fish population
within Minisinakwa Lake resulting from the CN
train derailment and subsequent oil spill.
The testing of fish collected has resulted in
findings that there is NO increased health risk
associated with consumption of fish.
It is always recommend that residents follow
the Ministry of the Environment and Climate
Change Guide to Eating Ontario Fish available at:
www.ontario.ca/document/guide-eating-ontariofish
Keep calm and go fishing.
Le Service de santé publique de Sudbury et du
district en collaboration avec le Ministère de
l’Environnement et de l’Action en matière de
changement climatique, le Ministère des
Richesses naturelles et des Forêts,
Environnement et Changement climatique Canada
et Santé Canada ont évalué l'impact potentiel sur
la population de poissons du lac Minisinakwa
suite au déraillement d'un train du CN et du
déversement de pétrole.
L’analyse des poissons démontre qu'il n'y a
aucun risque pour la santé associé à la
consommation des poissons.
Il est toujours recommandé de suivre le Guide
de la consommation de poisson de l'Ontario
du Ministère de l’Environnement à :
