As a consequence of performing optical depth measurements at different heights aerosol extinction vertical profiles have been also obtained during every landing/taking off and during pre-schedule vertical profiles. These profiles have been compared to ground based lidar extinction profiles (e.g. lidar at M’Bour in Dakar campaign and lidar based in Granada and Minorca during Charmex campaign) and to extinction measurement provided by CAPs (Aerodyne CAPS Pmex (Cavity Attenuated Phase Shift ) optical aerosol extinction spectrometer) which was on board together with PLASMA. Eventually, two desert dust events have been detected and they are specifically analyzed in the last part of the work: M’Bour 5th-8th April 2013 and Granada-Minorca 16th-17th of June. The study also includes aerosol size distribution obtained inverting aerosol optical depth at different heights using AERONET retrieval code (Dubovik and King, 2000) adapted for inverting only spectral AOD.
