French Course - Code 30124 a.y. 2012/2013/30124/June 2012 FRENCH AS FIRST FOREIGN LANGUAGE The course is aimed at students who have chosen French as their first foreign language and runs over two years. The course is for students who begin with an elementary (A2 level) knowledge of the language and the exit level is set at B2 level (post Intermediate) after two years’ study. The course ends in an exam which, once passed, gives the student two credits and which grade forms part of the overall final degree grade average. Please remind that the class group is run if the minimum number of applicants is reached. First year course – Path 1 Program The first year course covers all the units in the set textbook. In addition to the content of the academic program, there is also a guided self-study component. The activities are to be carried out in conjunction with attendance in class (up to five hours per week). This allows the student to constantly learn the language and prepare properly for the exam. Students who attend at least 70% of the lessons and complete the self-study program will be awarded two points to be added to their final exam grade (See “Concluding info”, p. 5). Miquel, Vite et bien 1 e 2, (see “set textbooks”) Students are also advised to complete the self-correcting exercises provided in Club Forum, an online course to be found at: www.club-forum.com. In particular, students should do at least one exercise per each grammar and vocabulary topic in every lesson. Each lesson on the website corresponds exactly to the lesson contained in the course program. On the site’s home page, entering “Testez-vous”, users can choose which topics in the exercises they wish to cover. Once the exercises are completed, they can be corrected using “Corrigez”.
