a Hermandad de
la Costa navega
con una flota
gloriosa formada
por 170 naos de
todos los confines del
planeta. Las tripulaciones,
reunidas en torno de
Capitanías Nacionales, se
muestran a través de los
Vigías Internacionales y
cantan de esa forma sus
alegrías, victorias,
contactos con los demás
hermanos y transmiten sus
triunfos y penas por
intermedio del The Tortuga
Post.
Hay sin embargo algunas
naos que se mantienen
mudas a tal punto que no
responden los llamados de
SECOIN. Se teme por ese
silencio, en su pérdida en la
espesa niebla.
Vamos a realizar un
ejercicio de pasar lista y
que cada hermandad
nacional diga PRESENTE
y de esta forma actualizar
nuestro Directorio.

y coincidan con aquellas
mudas por mas de dos años,

definitivamente perdidas si
al cabo de tres meses, no se
tiene noticias de ellas y de
esta manera se iniciarán los
trámites previstos por la
Asamblea de Capitanes
Nacionales para trasladarlas
al Directorio de las Naos
desaparecidas y devueltas a
las profundidades de la
Mar.

brume épaisse.

dans les rangs et prier
chaque Confrérie de
répondre PRESENTE. De

d'une manière générale, de
nous aider à rétablir la
communication.
Les confréries, silencieuses
depuis deux ans, qui ne
répondront pas à cet appel
en donnant de leurs
nouvelles dans un délai de
trois mois, devront être
considérées comme
perdues. Nous mettrons
alors en route la procédure
prévue par l'Assemblée des
Capitaines nationaux pour
les reléguer dans la
catégorie des Confréries
perdues et confiées aux
profondeurs de la mer.

he Brothers of the
Coast navigate in a
glorious fleet made up of
170 tables spread out
throughout the world. Its
crew, grouped around a
national captain, are known
to us through their
international vigie who
permit us to share in their
joy, their exploits, their
encounter with brothers
from other seas, their
triumph and their pains
reach us through the
Tortuga Post.
There are, however, a few
brotherhoods who remain
silent and do not even
respond to the calls from

legitimately fear that this
silence be a sign of their
loss in the fog.
We are going to pass
amongst the ranks a list to
which we request that you
respond PRESENT. By this
method we hope to bring up
to date our directory. We
request, therefore, that
Brothers who may have
contact with one or another
of these silent brotherhoods
to let them know of our
concerns and attempt to
help us to find a way to reestablish communications.
Brotherhoods who have
remained silent for two
years and who do not reply
to this call by providing
some news within three
months will be considered
as lost.

années. L'image que l'on
retire de cet exercice peut
certes être marquée par le
style, expansif ou au
contraire réservé, de tel
capitaine national ou de sa
vigie. Néanmoins, il est un
signe qui ne trompe pas:
lorsque, depuis plusieurs
années, une Confrérie n'a
plus donné signe de vie, et
surtout si cet indicateur
recoupe
d'autres
informations, on peut
craindre qu'elle ne soit dans
une situation difficile.

Greetings from Sydney.
Summer has been a busy season
with some of our Brothers yacht
racing and winning their class in
the Summer Series . A number of
oversaes visitors joined
our Brotherhood Zaffs.
We were fortunate to have a visit
at New Year by Martin Critchley
(Fumee Bleu) and Captive
Caroline from the Solent Table of
the U.K. We had a special
evening at the Captains house
with the omidnight fireworks a
short walk to a viewing area
between drinks. The evening was
changing to just before dawn as
we had a final OORRSSAA and
wished them well on their road
trip beach hopping towards
Brisbane.

In February we were also
rewarded with a visit of Manfred
Schroder from Lubeck Table in
Germany. Thanks to our good
friend Heinze Scheel , the Vigia
Internatiomal. we were able to
meet Manfred during his round
the world holiday. This time we
had a BBQ at the Smiths home
for 10 of the Sydney Brothers
and their cautivas. Again an
excellent night of Brotherhood
camaraderie and many Orsas.
The World Zaf. planning is
continuing at a steady rate. We
are expecting to have a dedicated
web site in place soon. Previous
organisers have set us a high
standard to achieve and we hope
you are impressed with the
format and the ease of use. THe
event orniser has employed a
Spanish speaking manager from
Brazil to be part of the organising
team. As we advised earlier we
are looking to run the event in the
middle of March 2010. This may
provide the oppertunity to pick
up cheaper off peak airfares.
There is also the option to extend
the holiday a bit to incorporate
Easter holidays.
This month the Australian
Government signed an agreement
to expand the number of carriers
licenced to fly across the Pacific.
This is expected to make the
airlines more competitive as one
of the carriers will be Virgin.
There may be additional
departure cities for the hop across
the Pacific. Currently
the departure hub is Los Angeles.
The Worlf Zaf. will be centered
around the Darling Harbour
precinct. A very social part of
Sydney with a number of hotels
around the perimeter of the
harbour and a total of 32
restaurants within walking
distance many with al fresco
dining. There is also a German
Beer Hall and a Chinese precinct.
We are starting to lock in a
number of the social events
which apart from boating on the
Harbour and Koala cuddling we
are looking to have theme nights
including Italian, Spanish and a
Barn Yard night.
We are looking forward to
providing more information in
the near future . In the mean time
we hope you can search the web
for the other activities Australia
has to offer.

Una pequeña flota de la
hermandad de la costa de España,
a su paso por Santiago de Chile
fué descubierta en el aeropuerto a
su paso hacia la región de
Valdivia, el dia 10 de febrero,por
un piquete de hermanos chilenos
comandados por el Secoin
Americo y el Capitanico NICO.
Posteriormente, dicha flotilla
española, compuesta por su
capitan nacional Manuel de
Luque, su lugarteniente nacional
Javier Martinez y el escribano
Luis Terrasa, acompañados por
las respectivas cautivas, fueron
puestos a buen recaudo el sábado
23 de febrero, ya que fueron
trasportados desde su fonda en
Santiago a la guarida nacional
chilena, donde fueron recibidos
con todos los honores por varias
escuadras chilena, comandadas
por su Capitan Nacional Rene
Olaberry y el oficial mayor de la
mesa de Santiago Ruben Moya y
sus distinguidas cautivas.
Ademas de muchos orzas
protocolarios fué servido un
magnifico bucan, con cantidades
enormes de pólvora negra .. y

blanca que hicieron la delicia de
todos los hermanos y cautivas
presentes.
Una larga noche inigualable que la
escuadra española no podrá
olvidar.
Y.. por si quedaba algun vacio en
las bodegas, el domingo 24, pocas
horas antes de la partida al terruño
español, nuestro hermano
Amerigo junto al valeroso Carlos
nos mostraron la hermosa
Santiago y posteriormente fuimos
recibidos en la mansión del
hermano Patricio y Florencia
donde dimos cuenta de una
suculenta cena bien regada de
polvora, como es reglamentario.
Gracias Chile, gracias hermanos y
tripulaciónes chilena, gracias
cautivantes cautivas chilenas,
gracias Capitan, por hacer siempre
mucho por la hermandad mundial.

Olivier Stern-Veyrin
Le 7 janvier, à 0 heure 26, notre
frère L’Arbalète, dit aussi Pisseau-Vent, a appareillé pour des
mers toujours sereines.
Né en 1922, figure éminente de la
plaisance française, Olivier avait
choisi de passer les dernières
années de sa vie à bord de son
voilier Prince Azur, amarré à
Saint-Louis du Rhône, pour rester
au plus près de la mer. La veille de
Noël, une chute avait provoqué
une rupture du col du fémur.
Présent à ses côtés, son fils
William, également médecin,
l’avait fait transporter à l’hôpital
de la Timone, à Marseille. Une
infection généralisée a entraîné
son décès en dépit de tous les
efforts.
Ayant navigué dès 1945 à bord
d’un caneton, puis avec son frère
sur leur dragon, il obtient son
affectation comme médecin des
îles Marquises où il séjourne de
1951 à 1954. Lors de la traversée
vers la Polynésie à bord d’un
paquebot, un lieutenant au long
cours lui apprend la navigation
astronomique. Il avait entreposé
sur ce bâtiment le voilier sur plan
Cornu de 9,85 m, baptisé Faowa
qu’il avait fait construire et avec
lequel il sillonne l’archipel. Dans
les îles, il rencontre les plus
célèbres navigateurs de l’époque.
En 1963, à bord d’un Cap Nord, il
effectue une traversée de
l’Atlantique avec pour tout
équipage sa fille Anne, âgée de 13
ans. Se disant qu’il pourrait
tomber à la mer ou se trouver
indisponible, il enseigne à sa fille
la navigation astronomique et
invente pour elle une pédagogie
simple. Après un retour en
solitaire il fait paraître, aux
éditions Arthaud, Solitaire ou
pas : le chapitre de navigation
astronomique qu’il contient est
une merveille qui a initié des
centaines de pratiquants.
Il avait eu la douleur de perdre son
épouse Annick dans un accident
de la route.
En 1973, le médecin devient le

navigateur de Kriter pour la
course autour du monde puis, à
Sydney, choisit de continuer la
Whitbread sur 33-Export, venant
ainsi aider un équipage traumatisé
par la perte de son skipper
Dominique Guillet et faisant
preuve d’un indéniable courage.
Entre temps, Olivier Stern-Veyrin
était devenu Président de l’Union
des Plaisanciers français, puis
Frère de la Côte à la table d’Isle de
France. Il a été Grand Frère de
France en 1975 et en 1980, à deux
reprises, ce qui est exceptionnel.
Sur son voilier de 12 mètres en
aluminium, il était reparti pour les
confins extrêmes : la Patagonie, le
Cap Horn, un hivernage à Puerto
Williams.
Il était l’auteur de trois autres
livres, Le Grand Océan, écrit avec
Jean-Pierre Millet, aux éditions
Robert Laffont et, aux éditions
Arthaud, Navigation astronomique
et Navigation en haute mer.
Dans une dernière rencontre avec
son ami Jacques Rey, président
des Cap Horniers de plaisance, il
avait
confié : "Tout voyage
océanique est une croisière dans
l’infini où l’homme ne laisse
aucune trace".
Les Frères de la Côte de France et
de l’étranger s’associent dans la
douleur qu’ils éprouvent de la
perte d’une de leurs plus fortes
personnalités et prient Claude, sa
seconde épouse qui l'a
accompagné durant ces dernières
années, ainsi que ses trois enfants
William, Ann et Patricia
d’accepter toute la part qu’ils
prennent à leur chagrin.

Notre ami Pierre Martinet,
alias Tosse la Houle, frère de la
côte pavillon 289 a appareillé le
dimanche 13 janvier pour des
mers sereines. Lors de son dernier
au revoir, notre Grand Frère TOO
BIB a rappelé quel grand homme
il était et sera toujours:
Mon cher Pierre TOSSE LA
HOULE, pour nous tes frères, ta
dernière volonté était de nous
rassembler une dernière fois
autour de toi et du pavillon des
frères de la côte de Toulon que tu
aimais tant. Nous avons tous été
surpris et bouleversés par cette
dernière tempête qui a emporté
dans ses abysses le grand marin et
ami que tu étais. La mer était pour
toi une histoire de famille, puisque
ton arrière-grand-père maternel,
fut capitaine au long cours et caphornier. À 10 ans la mer t'avait
déjà mateloté, et tu la découvrais
chez ta grand-mère à Martigues.
Tes qualités marines étaient
exceptionnelles, et avec tes
nombreux bateaux tu as connu des
heures merveilleuses qu'aucun
terrien ne peut imaginer. Tu
aimais tant tes bateaux qu'ils t'ont
conduit autour du monde en
solitaire et autour de l'Atlantique.
Tu as même été intronisé en Haïti.
L'amour de la mer était le culte de
tes jours. Mais tu avais aussi des
qualités humaines, d'entraide, de
camaraderie et de partage qui
n'égalaient que la simplicité dont
tu étais imprégné et que nous
apprécions tant.
Tu nous abreuvais de la richesse
de ta main, de ton regard et de ton
coeur. Si l'essentiel est souvent
invisible, à nos yeux terrestres,
cette richesse était bien visible lors
de nos rencontres.
Mon cher TOSSE LA HOULE,
toute la famille des frères de la
côte t'adresse ce dernier message
de tendresse, d'amitié et de
fraternité. Qu'il t’accompagne

GERMANY
Found world wide friends in the
Brotherhood
I commit: when I first heard about
the Brotherhood two years ago, I
was quite hesitating. But then,
after all, I became one of seven
founding Brothers of the Table
Berlin-Potsdam and my
enthusiasm for this worldwide
maritime organization started.
Today, it is not easy for me to
report about my up to day life in
this Brotherhood, without starting
some kind of missionary work on
this. But neither arguments nor
reports nor philosophie,
convincing is only what you
experience.
Let me give an example: it all
started for the seven of us from
Potsdam and Berlin, with our first
journey to Travemuende. Before
founding our table, we visited our
G o d fa t h e r ta b l e Lue b e c kTravemuende. Hardly none of us
knew, what would go on.
Strangers were sitting there from
various parts of Germany and
some guys from an English table.
From the second moment it felt,
like someone switched a button: a
warmhearted reception, at once
nice conversation about the sea,
sailing and very personal talks.
Not, like often elsewhere in
German y, questions about
profession, ostentatious
demonstration of the own boat or
the boastful exhibition of own
sailing abilities, no, it was more
like a visit to friends, which you
know since long time, no
hesitation, no barriers. I write this
so euphorically, because this is the
basic attitude, we later found in all
countries at all tables we have
visited.
We enjoyed this attitude on visits

to ZAFs at Guernsay, East
Anglia, Bruge, Budapest, at the
world ZAF as well as in
Uruguay, Chile and Italie..
And once for sure: I am proud I
was accepted to become a
Brother and I feel honoured to be
allowed as part of this
Brotherhood.
And last but not least, I am sure I
have found reliable friends all
over the world, on which I can be
proud of.

14th to 17th 2009
Since we would love to offer one
Hotel for all (the one in the
c e n t e r

Gaeubodenfestivities) and the
float with the right band for this
extraordinary event, it will be
necessary to book more than one
year in advance, You should try
to give note of interest as early as
possible, to make sure, it all can
happen.
We then wil l wo rk on
opportunities to travel Germany
within the Brotherhood before
and after the river float weekend,
as succesfully done before and so
help to compensate the Euro.
Places on the float are limited to
54 max, but Brothers and
Captives from Germany, who
have done it before, will stay
aside in case of shortage on the
float and join the interesting
alternative program that day.
GREAT
BRITAIN
In January 2007 Graham Barnett
‘Guardian’, from the Table of
East Anglia, was elected as our
new National Captain and he
chose, as his National team, Mike
Arnold ‘Old Grog’, from the
Solent Table, as Scribe, and Peter
Adams ‘Pescador’, from the East
Anglian Table, as Bosco.
Phillip Jackson ‘Judge’ was
elected as International Vigie.
At an early National Council
meeting, Graham detailed some
very excited plans for the next
four years, also indicating his
wish that the GB Fleet should
expand further around the coast.
In June, he sailed to the Solent
and stopped at Lymington, his
intention was to continue to
Weymouth and on to the Channel
Islands.
Tragically, whilst on a shore
excursion he died having
suffered a major hear attack.
This was a major setback to the
GB Brothers and his enthusiasm
and leadership was, and is, a sad
loss.
As Scribe, Mike Arnold took
over as acting National Captain
pending new elections.
GB’s newest Table, Kent Invicta,
has proved an enthusiastic
addition to the fleet and, once
again, in October 2007 held a
Boucan at Cobham Hall which
was attended by other Tables in
the GB Fleet, and when we also
welcomed our Brothers from
France, Holland, Belgium and
Germany.
It was at this Boucan that we held
a National Council Meeting and
the election of Mike Arnold as
National Captain. He chose
Bryan Osborn ‘Apolonius’, from
the Solent Table, as his Scribe
with Peter Adams continuing as
Bosco.
To perpetuate Graham Barnett’s
memory it was decided to
commission an award – The
Guardian Light, the first recipient
will be John Eberhardt, who has
served as Mentor and Vigie for
many years.
HAITI
As requested SECOIN J. Patricio
Sapiains, I had gladly accepted to
try to contact the Grand Frère de
la Table d'Haiti, Victor Boulos
and the Vigie Internationale of
this table, Christian Goguet,
during my 43. trip to Haiti from
26 February to 5 March 2008.
The purpose of this trip was to
visit my projects for deprived
children in the framework of the
"Peter-Hesse-Foundation
S O L I D A R I T Y
I N
PARTNERSHIP for ONE world
in diversity".
Sending out preliminary signals
not by flags but by using modern
internet possibilities, I was not
able to reach the Grand Frère
Victor Boulos, but the
International Vigie Christian
Goguet, whom I met on firm land
on Saturday, 1 March, in my
Hotel in Petionville, Haiti.
We exchanged memories of

various previous meetings in the
USA and at the traditional home
of our Brotherhood, the Island of
La Tortue. In 1989 I had organised
a boucan for the Haitian Brothers
and for the "table" of local
fishermen of La Tortue on the
original settlement of the Haitian
Boucaniers and predominantly
French Flibustiers, which had
started to form between 1655 and
1664 in that region. Our German
table had participated in the
creation and the support of this
local – somewhat unusual –
"special" table of the Brotherhood
of the Coast, which was composed
of the leaders of local groups of
fishermen on La Tortue.
Christian Goguet is famous
among the Brothers of the Coast
for his knowledgeable and spirited
writings on history and life of the
original Boucaniers and
Flibustiers, who formed the early
Brotherhood of the Coast on this
part of the originally Spanish
island of Hispaniola.
Christian Goguet gave me a
b o o k l e t "B o i r e a v e c l e s
Boucaniers & les Flibustiers",
written by himself. In addition he
sold me a recently (in 2007)
enlarged
version
of
"CONJONCTION, la revue
franco-haitienne de l'Institut
Français d'Haiti" (No. 215-216) on
"Nourriture et cuisine en Haiti". In
this book, Christian Goguet writes
in a most fascinating way about
the culinary life of the old
Brothers of the Coast. Other
copies of CONJONCTION (No.
164 "L'époque des Frères de La
Coste en Haiti au XVIIème siècle"
and No. 174-175 "Spécial Ile de
La Tortue") are equally interesting
to learn more about "our" former
ways of life.
Christian Goguet informed me on
what remained from the Haitian
table of his Brothers of the Coast,
since 2 left Haiti and 3 died and
since it became practically
impossible to safely keep a boat
even in a "protected" place in
Haiti: – 5 brothers, who
occasionally meet as friends:

On 15 February 2008, the second
female "brother" of the table of
Haiti, Karin Desboeuf ("Requin
chagrin"), had died. She had
owned the famous sailing yacht
"Vendredi 13". It was her wish,
that her ashes should be given to
the sea.
Christian Goguet, architect and
historian, plans the construction of
a secure inland port on the area of
the former Club Med, which was
recently resold to a private
i n ve s t o r . T h i s pr o j e c t –
comparable to Port Grimaud in
France – might become the first
secured harbour in Haiti, which is
potentially good news for all
navigating Brothers of the Coast
in the Caribbean !

Hungarian Tables
of
the
IRELAND
The Freres de la Cote is going
from strength to strength in Ireland
. We now have Tables on the
Northern, Western and Southern
Coasts with the establishment of
the Southern Table in Waterford
City on March 7th at a Boucan in
the Arlington Arms. There are
nine Freres in the new Table
headed up by Nicholas Fewer and
Peter Cunningham (l'Escritore).
They were joined by Sean
O'Loughlin and two other Brothers
from the Western Table.
The original Table, founded in
Connemara in 1978, is now the
Western Table with twenty active
Freres. The Grand Frere, also GF
of Ireland until August, is John
Coyle (Tibbot na Long). On
March 5th there was a Boucan in
Westport, Co. Mayo, attended by
sixteen Freres and guests.
The Northern Table, covering
Ulster, is off to a flying start.
There are twelve Brothers headed
by Richard Butler. Wallace Clark,
veteran sailor, buccaneer and
writer, transferred from the
Western to the Northern Table in
his native Ulster for a substantial
fee. They held a Boucan on
January 11th.
The schedule of the main events
in 2008 are:
1) the Northern Table's Boucan on
Rathlin Island on June 14th.
Rathlin lies 6 miles off the North
East Coast and is only 16 miles
from the Mull of Kintyre in
Scotland . Rathlin was the first
place in Ireland to be ravaged by
the Norsemen in the year of Our
Lord 793 ;
2)The Southern Table willl hold a
Boucan in Baltimore, Co. Cork on
the weekend of July 19th. It has a
fine harbour and is well known to
sailors from England, Brittany,
Normandy and France. The
National Zaff was held there in
2007;
3) the National Zaffarancho will
be on the island of InisBofin on
the weekend of August 1st. Inis
Bofin lies 5 miles off the coast of
Connemara, Co. Galway and is
only 2,600 miles from Boston,
Mass. It also has a fine harbour,
guarded by an old fort. There are
three good hotels. Inis Bofin was
the second place in Ireland to be
ravaged by the Norsemen in 793
A.D.

Cette table sans littoral, sans port
d'attache ni de pavillon national,
qui regroupait une poignée
d'hommes de mer vivant à bord
de leur bateau, auxquels s'étaient
joints deux ou trois vagabonds,
cette table, on le sait, n'existe
plus.
Née d'une superbe utopie
d'Olivier Stern-Veyrin, elle avait
été créée en 1991 à Santiago de
Chile, avec l'accord de la
Hermandad de la Costa,
gardienne de la tradition. Les
frères de cette table errante
avaient reçu l'Octalogue pour
tout viatique et communiquaient
entre eux grâce à la radio. De
cette improbable aventure, il ne
reste aujourd'hui que des
souvenirs et les 16 numéros de la
Gazette océane, publiée par Son
Excellence à Montevideo puis à
Zagreb alors que les Balkans se
déchiraient..
En 1999, The Tortuga Post
publiait un communiqué de Pisse
au vent: usée par les années, la
belle aventure de la Nef océane
s e t er mi n a i t. El l e a va i t
enthousiasmé, mais elle n'avait
pas vraiment trouvé son souffle.
Elle avait aussi provoqué de
violentes discussions de principe.

Olivier Stern-Veyrin a été à
l'origine de la création de notre
confrérie Helvétique et de
solides amitiés le liait à plusieurs
de nos Frères. La disparition de
ce grand navigateur et éminent
Frère de la Côte suscite en nous
émotion et tristesse. Olivier,
navigue en Paix.

Il Padrino (Vigie internationale
suisse)
Olivier Stern-Veyrin fit partie de
l’équipage de "Disque d’Or" lors
de la première participation
helvétique à la Whitbread Round
the World Race en 1977-78.
Au cours de la première étape
menant de Southampton à Cape
Town, il officia en qualité de
médecin de bord, mais surtout en
tant que navigateur, avec comme
mission supplémentaire de
parfaire la formation de
l’équipier chargé d’assumer cette
fonction dès la seconde étape.
Ses compétences et sa gentillesse
en firent un équipier apprécié de
tous. Notre mentor (il avait alors
55 ans!), auréolé de surcroît par
l’expérience acquise à bord de
"Kriter" lors de la 1ère édition de
la Whitbread en 73, n’avait pas
son pareil pour nous faire rêver la
nuit, à nous conter les étoiles et
les constellations, tandis que
"Disque d’Or" filait vers les mers
du Sud. Fin connaisseur de l’âme
humaine, il sut à plusieurs
reprises désamorcer les tensions
au sein d’un équipage encore
plus enthousiaste qu’
expérimenté, un enseignement
qui porta ses fruits tout au long
de la course.
Pour la petite histoire: Son fils,
William, fut par la suite équipiermédecin pour les deux dernières
étapes de la course (Auckland –
Rio et Rio – Southampton)..
Une nouvelle Table en
Suisse?
Une nouvelle table de Frères de
la Côte est va sans doute
naître en Suisse dans le canton du
Tessin, et plus exactement à
Lugano . .
Un groupe de
navigateurs tessinois a en effet
montré d'excellentes dispositions,
propres à en faire des Frères tout
à fait présentables! La nouvelle
Table devrait voir le jour sous
peu, parrainée par le Vigie
internationale suisse, Il Padrino,
alias Franco Benini.

Hermandad de la Costa a pedido

Luis Chabaneau, frente a mas de
250 personas, realizó un Mini
Zafarrancho actuando como
Locutor el Bichicuma Ariel
Ferragut. Hicieron entrada al
escenario montado el frente del
Museo con el Himno de la
Hermandad de fondo los
Bichumas, los Muchachos, los
Hermanos los Capitanes de las
Naos de Montevideo y de
Colonia y el Gran Vigia
Internacional.- El Capitan de la
Nao de Montevideo, pidió
permiso al Gran Vigía
Internacional para iniciar las
maniobras de zarpe, terminadas
dio lectura al Octalogo Luego se
puso la canción Adiós al Mar,
Posteriormente se leyó la historia
abreviada de la Hermandad de la
Costa y en particular del
Uruguay, y se explico lo que es
no es la Hermandad de la Costa.Acto seguido se puso la canción
Señor Capitan. A continuación el
Gran Vigía Internacional
agradeció, a la Armada y en
particular al C/N Luis
Chabanaeu, la oportunidad de
poder explicar, por primera vez al
publico en general lo que es la
Cofradía, y destaco la excelente
relación que existe entre la
Armada y la Hermandad de la
Costa.- Dio lectura a la Oración
al Mar y cerro el Mini
Zafarrancho con Tres Andanadas
de cañón, cantadas, pero con
descargadas verdaderas de cañón
lanzadas por personal de la
Armada, lo cual fue muy
aplaudido por los numerosos
asistentes.

I am once again the bearer of sad
news. Ruth Steiner, Captive of
Art Steiner, a.k.a. Dry Rot,
bearer of number #24 the oldest
active US Brotherhood flag,
passed away on March 12. Dry
Rot is a brother of the New York
Table and had moved to Oakland
Park, Florida some years ago.
On a much lighter note, 67
Brothers descended on the
Florida Keys this year for
Presidents Weekend, including 4
on their own bottom. 3 from the
Chesapeake Bay Table - BriseGalets on board Papy Jovial,
Cruz on board Orza, and Limey
on board Hampshire Rose. The
4th, Gimbal on board Charrette
Made, is from the Sun Coast
Table.
The US was graced with the visit
from the UK of Roy and Maraget
Seckington who spent a week
with Bubbles in the Florida Keys.
The next Zaf in the US is San
Antonio's annual Trailer Trash
Party and is scheduled for the
weekend of April 25 - 27. Don't
miss it. The National Zaf this
year will be hosted by the
Savannah Table and is scheduled
for Thursday, October 23,
through Sunday, October 26th.
The Euro is strong, so come on
our Brothers from the other side
of the Atlantic: we want to see

about thirty prayers and graces,
written in English and relating
to seafarers in general and to
Freres de la Cote in particular.
They have been collected
together and printed in a small
pocket sized soft cover booklet
by 'Apolonius' of Solent Table,
Freres de la Cote (GB).
Although some of these prayers
are genuinely serious in their
own right, many are frivolous,
or even faintly blasphemous, so
this is not a booklet to be taken
too seriously! It is meant, in line
with the true spirit of the
Brotherhood, to be a bit of fun.

événement. Voici donc,
spécialement à l'intention des
Vigies internationales, les délais
rédactionnels des prochains
numéros de TTP:

El Tortuga Post es el boletín informativo oficial de los
Hermanos de la Costa. Es enviado libremente por Email a todos los Hermanos que se están inscritos en
BOC-Lista. Las Hermandades nacionales están
autorizadas para utilizarlo de acuerdo a sus necesidades:
copias, traducciones parciales, etc, con la condición sin
embargo que siempre se indique la fuente. Por su parte,
los Vigías internacionales comunicarán con uno u otro
de los redactores o a SECOIN las noticias de su
fraternidad. Estos comunicados serán escritos en una de
los cuatro idiomas oficiales de la fraternidad, y no
traducidos normalmente.
The Tortuga Post is the official news bulletin of the
Brotherhood of the Coast. It is sent free by e-mail to all
the Brothers who are on the BOC-List. The national
Brotherhoods are authorized to use it to fit their needs:
copies, partial translations, etc., with the condition that
the source always be indicated. For their part, the
International Lookouts will communicate the news of
their Brotherhood to one of editors or to SECOIN.
These official news will be written in one of the four
official languages of the Brotherhood and will normally
not be translated.
The Tortuga Post est le bulletin d'information officiel
des Frères de la Côte. Il est adressé gratuitement par email à tous les Frères qui figurent sur la BOC-List. Les
confréries nationales sont autorisées à l'utiliser au
mieux de leurs besoins: copies, traductions partielles,
etc., à la condition toutefois que la source soit toujours
indiquées.
Pour leur part, les Vigies internationales
communiqueront à l'un ou l'autre des rédacteurs ou à
SECOIN les nouvelles de leur confrérie. Ces
communiqués seront rédigés dans l'une des quatre
langues officielles de la Confrérie, et ne seront
normalement pas traduits.
