THIERRY D’ISTRIA Born on March 21st 1968 January 1991: ESDI, advanced school of industrial design, Paris. 1991: worked for the Philippe Starck design firm. 1992 to 1997: freelance designer. Collaborated with Jean-Jacques Ory (architect), Didier Gomez (interior designer) and Didier Saco Design. Customers: Stradal, Cristal de Sèvres, communities of Ajaccio, Porticcio and Propriano, Corsica. 1997: Thierry won the McDonald’s competition with the agency Sylvie Blanchet. Designed seven drive-in restaurant concepts for McDonald’s: interior design, indoor and outdoor furnishings, applied to 250 restaurants until 2010. 2001: Partnership with Sylvie Blanchet (interior decorator) whose agency changes name to become Blanchet-d’Istria. Restaurant concepts for McDonald’s Japan, Guadeloupe and Martinique, Compass SSP, Autogrill, Sushiwest, Chaak, Beau Manger, Groupe Akwa (Oasis café…), Groupe Bertrand (Eris), Groupe Holder (Joly ice cream stand), Louvre Bouteille, Petrus, Red Bull, event object for Grey Goose, boutique concepts for Kookaï, Caroll, Madame à Paris, Afflelou (acoustician and optician), Heimstone, Hotels for the Louvre-Hotels group (Campanile, Kyriad, Première Classe, Golden tulip and Tulip in), Groupe Accor (Novotel, Ibis style, Mercure, M Gallery),Value State (Paris hotel), TBWA, Alice Evènements, La Galerie Catherine Houard, furniture for furniture and accessory manufacturers Soca.
