Very strong performance in FY 2005
A few weeks following FY 2005 revenues’ announcement, Groupe Sporever today released highly
improved earnings, that range at the high end of July 2005 I.P.O. guidance.
This very positive trend, which should carry on in the upcoming years, is mainly due to the Company’s
growing new media business (internet and wireless operations) which now account for 45% of total
revenues (versus 35% at the end of 2004).
All business segments contributed to the Company’s positive operating performance, including the
print business (But ! newspaper) which allows Sporever to benefit from numerous editorial and
promotional synergies that enhance its quality coverage of events across its media properties.
Favorable outlook for the next three years
Thanks to its position as a leader in the Sports’ new media marketspace, Sporever should continue to
grow aggressively thanks to:
- An explosive growth of the internet and wireless markets, fostered by increased penetration
of broadband networks,
- A strategic alliance with Orange France, the mobile rights’ holder of most of the European
sporting events, and whose exclusive contract with French League 1 soccer has just been
renewed until 2008,
- A unique sporting calendar of events from 2006 to 2008. Although 2007 is an odd year that
usually provides few first class events, it will trigger excitement and generate exceptional
action for fans with the Rugby World Cup to be held in France.
- International expansion: the Torino Olympic Games allowed the Company to demonstrate its
know-how in the multilingual coverage of major events for wireless consumers (more than
600 hours were produced for 5 wireless operators in 6 different languages).
