Agreement and position of adjectives
Agreement
Adjectives need to ‘agree’ in number and gender with the thing(s) they
describe. If the object is feminine (e.g. starts with ‘la’ or ‘une’) you usually add
an ‘e’ to the end of the adjective.
e.g.
un garage bleu = a blue garage
une chambre bleue = a blue bedroom
Position of adjectives
Adjectives of size such as ‘grand’ = big and ‘petit’ = small go before the object
they describe, and other adjectives such as colours go after the object.
e.g.
une grande salle à manger = a big dining room
une salle à manger verte = a green dining room
un petit jardin = a small garden
un jardin vert = a green garden
