ASSEMBLY ON THE FLOOR
Picture A:
. Layout all of the parts as shown on the garage floor, with the control
unit (4)facing towards the inside of the garage. Make sure the required
tools are to hand. Always make sure that the chain is completely clipped
into the chain case.
Picture B:
. Push the motor with its chain (1) into one of the tracks (2). Make sure
that the contact springs are fitted in advance. . Push the other two
tracks (2) as far as they will go onto tracks (3) until the stop lugs resist.
This produces a single, continuous track. . Push the red switch marked
"H" (10) into the track with the tip pointing towards the motor (1).
. Push the chain through the opening in the witch.
Picture
C:
. Insert the bolts (12a) into the roof bracket (12c) (refer to il!. A).
Mount the angle iron (12) onto the roof bracket (12c) using the nuts
(12) and locking washers. . Push the roof bracket (12c) into the track.
. Connect the chain to the bolt on the control unit (4) by means of the
chain joint (G). . Bring the contact springs up to the control unit (4) and
push the control unit (4) as far as it will go into the track (2).
Picture D:
. Pushthe redswitch marked"V"
(11) into the other side of the track.
. Fit the chain bolt (15) to the chain by means of the chain joint (5) and
push the lintel fitting (14) into the track (with the open side facing up).
. Push the chain bolt through the opening in the lintel fitting (14).

.
Fit the washer, the spring and the M8 nut (15) to the chain bolt (15).
Tighten the nut down as far as the mark on the lintel fitting (14). Hold
position with a screwdriver (but not inserted into the chain joint).
Then push the chain and the chain bolt right to the side of the track.
Picture
F:
. Attach the two roof/wall angle irons (1Gc) using the bolt (1Ga) and the
nut (1Gb) to the lintel fitting (14), but do not tighten fully yet.
Picture
G:
. If the motor (1) does not run free, disengage it by a single pull on the
emergency unlocking device (17). . Fit the door bracket (13) and the
pulleyarm (13) to the motor (1) as shown, using the bolt and retaining
clip (13).
II. FITTING THE DRIVE TO THE GARAGE ROOF
. Turn the hole assembled unit so that the opening in the track is facing
down. Unlock the door and disconnect all of the locking devices so that
they cannot interfere with the movement of the door.
. Make sure that the garage door runs smoothly over its complete travel
in both directions. If required, the door should be adjusted before the
assembled drive unit is fitted.
Picture H:
. Measure the centre of the garage door and mark it on the face of the
door and also on the lintel above the door. . Open the door slowly and
note where it comes closest to the roof (including the rubber strip, where
fitted). This point, the highest point of the door's travel, must be at least
35 mm from the root. Close the door.
Picture I:
. Depending on the space available, the drive assembly can be
mounted on the lintel or the roof (as close to the lintel as possible).
Mark and drill holes 74 mm to the right and left of the middle of the
door and 20 50 mm above the highest point of the door's travel
(10 mm diameter holes for concrete, 5 mm diameter for wood).
- take the thickness of the lintel or roof into account!
Insert plugs, raise the drive assembly at the front and secure the angle
irons (1Gc)using the wood screws and washers (1Gc).
. Important
Picture J:
. Raise the drive assembly at the rear and support on a ladder.
. Open the door. The gap between the control unit (4) and the roof
bracket (12c) can be adjusted to anything between O Goo mm depending on the particular garage root. Adjust the roof bracket (12c) vertisally
to ensure that the door does not rub against the track in its travel and
adjust the assembly to the centre of the door at the same time. Mark the
holes and drill (in concrete 10 mm diameter, in wood 5 mm diameter).
Insert plugs and secure the roof bracket (12c) with the screws and
washers (12b).

Picture K:
. Close the door again. Fully tighten the bolt (1Ga) and the nut (1Gb).
Push the motor (1)forward towards the linte!. Hold the door bracket (13)
in position on the door and centre it. The angle can be fitted to the door
bracket in a variety of ways, depending on the type of door. Pre-drill
5 mm diameter holes. Secure the door bracket (13) with the four screws
(13). If required, other screws than those supplied may be used to ensure
the bracket is secure.
. Assembly of machinery attachment for Crawford Private. Asemble
machinery attachment as per Picture 1. Put the upper and below parts
of the machinery attachment together and lock with screws, as shown
in Picture 2. The machinery attachment is always to be placed at the
middle of the top section.
Picture L:
. Install the internal wall switch (9) at a suitable point, at least mind.
1Goomm above the floor. Lay the three-core cable (8) and connect up
the white and black wires to the control button terminals. The red wire
(24 V) is used when instaIling a code lock or a photocel!.
. Attach the antenna (7)to the ceiling at right angles to the direction
of transmission.
Picture M:
. Pushswitch"V"
(11) right up to the motor (1) and tighten the retaining
screw. Open the door fully. . Push switch "H" (10) right up to the motor
(1) and tighten the retaining screw. Connect
on the emergency unlocking device (17).
the motor (1) by a single pull
Picture N:
. Plug in the mainx cable (G).The light must
flash. (If the light fails to
flash, refer to the section on "Cancelling Power Values"). To allow it to
"Iearn" the correct power values, the drive must operate through a complete opening and closing cycle to ensure that it registers the required
power for both directions of trave!. The drive can be activated for this
purpose by pressing the wall control button (9) or using the manual
transmitter (20). The integrated light flashes during this learning procedure. The light only remains on permanently when the required power has
been learned for both directions.
Picture
O:
. Prise off the cover (18) over the light using a screwdriver.
. The power tolerance can be set to a higher value on the power potentiometer (19), Le. the power which must be applied to open or close the
door in addition to the power learned by the driver. At the left-hand end
of the potentiometer's travel the additional power tolerated is approximately 1.5 kg and at the right-hand end approximately 20 kg.
WARNING! For your own safety, the power tolerance should be kept
as low as possible to ensure that any obstruction s are recognized
rapidly and safely.
Picture P:
. Check that the drive can be stopped in both its open-travel and its
close-travel with the application of minimum force. If interrupted in its
close-travel, the drive moves back approximately 100 mm.
N.B: Garages with only one point of entry must be fitted with a
bowden pull/disconnectuion
lock cable for emergency unlocking
(from the outside) if there is a power cut.

Cancelling Power Values
. Once the drive has been installed and connected up to the mains
supply, the integrated light flashes indicating that the drive has still not
"Iearned" any power values. If the light fails to flash because the drive
has already learned power values - e.g. in the course of tests carried
out under no-load conditions - these values must first be cancelled.
Proceed by prising off the cover (18) over the light using a screwdriver.
Using a narrow-pointed object as a tool, hold down the code relay button (marked "Code") for approx. 3 seconds. The light Qeginsto flash
as soon as the values are cancelled. Proceed as per the instructions for
Illustration N to "teach" the required power values. Replace the cover
over the light.
'
Relaying the Code
. Relaying the code is necessary if, for example, a manual transmitter
is lost. . Proceed by prising off the cover over the light using a screwdriver. The code relay button (marked "Code") must be held down until
the red LED (marked "Radio Control") remains lit and the light goes out
(approx. 8 seconds). Holding down the button for a shorter time cancels
the power values already learned.. The remote control unit must now
be re-encoded as indicated under "Encoding a New Remote Control
Unit".
battery
. When the battery is almost fully discharged, the controllamp
will flash
when the button is pressed. At this point, the battery should be replaced
by a new one of the same kind. Open the remote control, remove the
old battery and insert the new one in exactly the same position. Check
that the poles are properly connected (+/-). Dispose of the old battery
in anm environmentally-acceptable
manner.
Dealing with Obstruction s
Program min g a new remote control
unit
. The remote control unit supplied is factory-programmed
with a code
selected at random from a range of 16,700,000
possible codes. It does
not require programming by the customer. If you should require an
additional remote control, this must be programmed with your code.
. To programme the remote control unit proceed as folIows:
disconnect the mains supply and unclip the lam p cover (18) with a
scewdriver. Unscrew the two screws on the control panel. Open and
pull out the circuit card. . Open up the remote control and fit its contacts into the corresponding contacts on the circuit card. Press the
button to be coded an the remote control until the controllamp
on
the circuit card goes out (approx. 2 - 3 secs.). Reverse the procedure
to reassemble.
. If the door encounters an obstruction when it is closing, the drive
reverses approx. 10 cm and then stops in this position. For reasons
of safety, the next starting signal causes the door to move only in the
"Open" direction, until the upper end-point in its traveI has been reached. At this point, both directions of traver are enabled again. The same
applies in the opposite direction for any obstruction encountered during
opening. If the door should come up against an obstruction in both
directions, for reasons of safety the drive mechanism switches over to
deam-man operating mode, Le. the light flashes and the drive only
operates for as long as the wall-mounted control button is held down.
Once the obstruction has been cleared, the door can be brought to one
of the end-points of its travel in dead-man operating mode. At this point
the drive returns to its normaloperating mode.
