NEW INTERIORS SHOW OFFERS BRIDGE TO AFRICA FOR GLOBAL DESIGN FIRMS Furniture and interior product suppliers from across the world are being offered a direct route into the Middle East and North Africa’s booming US$7.7billion interior design market through the region’s newest dedicated décor showcase. INDEX North Africa – taking place in Casablanca between December 5 and 7 – is looking to bring both established and up-and-coming intercontinental furnishing firms to their three-day design exhibition. The aim is to connect them with leading African-based distributors keen to expand their own reach across the continent by taking on and importing original, international products. Thousands of designers, architects, distributors, contractors, consultants, buyers and procurement gurus operating across Central, North and West Africa working on commercial, hospitality, residential and retail projects will be in attendance – offering a unique opportunity to international suppliers seeking partners capable of growing their business in Africa and further afield. The dmg events team behind the INDEX brand – renowned worldwide for their now 26-year-old INDEX Exhibition, which drew more than 34,000 guests to 800 different exhibitor stands in Dubai in May – opted to bring their esteemed networking showcase to Morocco to provide a growth facilitating bridge to international design firms seeking a way to penetrate the surging African interiors market. Research by Deloitte recently found that the global interior design market is skyrocketing due to a construction boom that requires the sourcing of products, planning and creative expertise provided by décor experts. Already valued at $8.2billion-a-year across the Middle East and Africa, local revenues are set to hit almost $10billion by 2019 – growing at a rate of 5.7% per annum, far faster than the market anywhere else in the world. Paul Frimpong, Investor Analyst at international business facilitation experts Naseba, said: “The enormous potential of the African continent cannot be emphasized enough. Africa is the fastest growing region for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world. Aggregate household consumption will reach $1.4 trillion with collective GDP hitting $2.6 trillion in 2020 alone. These facts show that with the understanding of the growth momentum, combined with the right strategies, lays handsome rewards for current and prospective investors in the region.” Samantha Kane-Macdonald, Event Director at the INDEX Design Series, said: “The fact that the African interiors market is set to experience one of its largest periods of growth to date is fantastic news for all suppliers looking to grow internationally. “By attending INDEX North Africa, firms have a direct passage to the key decision makers responsible for fitting-out properties across the entire continent.” The inaugural INDEX North Africa will take place at the Parc Des Expositions De L’Office Des Changes (CICEC), in Casablanca, between December 5th and 7th.
