WHAT:
The International Federation of Translators in 2012 introduced a poster competition to promote
International Translation Day (ITD), which is celebrated annually on 30 September. Each year member
associations and other interested persons around the world will be encouraged to submit posters that
promote ITD.
WHY:
FIT's mission is to promote and be the voice of interpreters, translators and terminologists. This
competition is one means of accomplishing our mission. The winning poster will be made freely available
via the website and member associations and others can then print it out and use it for their ITD events.
The copyright will belong to FIT.
WHO:
Any individual or organisation – whether they are related to a FIT member or not – may participate in the
competition. Individual members of any FIT member association or institution may submit a poster through
their association or directly, and member associations or institutions may also commission an artist or an
individual member with other special talents to produce an entry on their behalf.
WHEN:
Submissions must be received by 31 January 2015. The submissions will relate to ITD in the following year
(in casu 2015). Entries must be submitted to the FIT Secretariat ([email protected]).
The FIT Council will vote on the best submission. The winners will be notified directly and the result
published no later than 15 February 2015. (NOTE: Council members will excuse themselves from the vote if
their association or a member from their association submits a poster)

The motif must be linked to the ITD theme for the year in question.
The ITD theme for the year in question must be included, either in English and French, or with the
option of combining one of the FIT official languages with a local language(s).
The FIT logo and, if appropriate, the logo of the member association or institution, as well as a
copyright indication must be included. The FIT logo to be used for the poster can be downloaded
here.
The poster must be submitted as a high-resolution pdf file that can be published online or printed,
as well as in jpg format at 300 dpi and 100 dpi. The dimensions must be suitable for printing in A2
or A3 format.
The poster must be localisable, i.e. it must either include no text that requires translation or must
have all fonts embedded in the file so that the text can be changed as required. This is so that
associations can produce the poster with a local language, if desired.
Designs must accommodate two languages.

PRIZE:
Poster competition winners will receive the FIT ITD Prize, which will be a certificate and/or plaque, and
where appropriate will have their association logo together with the FIT logo on the poster. Winners will be
listed in the ITD section of the FIT website.

DE QUOI S’AGIT-IL ?
En 2012 la Fédération internationale des traducteurs a introduit un concours d’affiches parmi ses membres
pour donner du relief à la Journée mondiale de la traduction (JMT) organisée tous les ans le 30 septembre.
Pour le concours les associations membres et des personnes intéressées seront invitées à proposer des
affiches mettant en valeur la JMT à l’échelle mondiale.
POURQUOI ORGANISER UN TEL CONCOURS ?
La FIT se veut la voix des interprètes, traducteurs et terminologues. Ce concours est un des moyens qu’elle
prend pour accomplir cette mission. L’affiche gagnante sera mise à la disposition au public dans le site
web, et les associations membres et le public pourront choisir de l’imprimer et de l’utiliser dans le cadre de
leurs manifestations de la JMT. La FIT en conservera le droit d’auteur.
QUI PEUT PARTICIPER ?
Toute personne ou organisation – qu’elles soient liées à la FIT ou non – peuvent participer au concours. Les
membres d’une association ou d’une institution membre de la FIT peuvent proposer une affiche par
l’entremise de leur association ou directement à la FIT. L’association ou l’institution membre peut aussi
demander à un artiste ou à un de ses membres ayant un talent particulier de produire une affiche en son
nom.
QUELLES SONT LES DATES CLÉS ?
Les soumissions doivent être reçues au plus tard le 31 janvier 2015. Les affiches proposées portent sur la
JMT de l’année suivante (soit 2015). Il faut envoyer les propositions au Secrétariat de la FIT
([email protected]).
Le Conseil de la FIT votera pour la meilleure proposition. Les gagnants seront avisés directement et le
résultat sera publié au plus tard le 15 février.
(NOTA : Les membres du Conseil s’abstiendront de voter si leur association ou un de ses membres soumet
une affiche.)

Le thème de la JMT de l’année en question doit figurer sur l’affiche, en français ou en anglais, ou en
combinant une des langues officielles de la FIT avec une ou plusieurs langues locales.
Le logo de la FIT et, si possible, celui de l’association ou institution membre doivent figurer sur
l’affiche, ainsi qu’une indication des droits d’auteur. Le logo de la FIT à télécharger ici.
Il faut envoyer l’affiche dans un fichier pdf haute résolution publiable en ligne ou imprimé, ainsi
que le format jpg (300 dpi et 100 dpi). Les dimensions doivent être compatibles avec un format
d’impression A2 ou A3.
L’affiche doit être adaptable aux régions, en ce sens qu’aucun texte n’a à être traduit ou que le
fichier comprend toutes les polices de caractères afin que le texte puisse être modifié au besoin.
Ainsi, les associations pourront produire l’affiche dans une langue locale, si elles le désirent.
Le graphisme doit se prêter à la présence de deux langues.

PRIX :
Les lauréats du concours d’affiches recevront le prix JMT de la FIT sous la forme d’un certificat ou d’une
plaque. Le logo de l’association accompagnera celui de la FIT sur l’affiche, si possible. Les gagnants seront
mentionnés à la section JMT du site web de la FIT.
