Inventory of all such property as have been relinquished by the death ab intestato of Pieter Diemel on the 12
December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven for the benefit of his
unknown foreign heirs
The aforesaid property having been taken under the administration of the Board of Orphan Masters at the
Cape of Good Hope in behalf of his unknown foreign heirs and been inventoried by the undersigned
Commissioner, was found to consist in the following
At the house of M:r Josh Alb:s van Breda
A wood ruler containing
a lantharn
a bazon
two candle sticks
a p:r of snuffers, one stand
five tin cannisters
a trissing box
a small trunk
a p:r shoe buckles
a p:r knee buckles
a neck [buckles]
a [ ..... ] for a p:r of breeches
two laurignettes
six watch glasses
two small glister pipes
a p:r of spectacles
an opera glass
an opera glass defective
a few glasses for opera
a spy glass defective
two wine glasses
two umbrellas

six pictures
a large trunk
a hat and a cap
four waistcoats
a p:r of trowsers
a p:r of breeches
a jacket
a shirts
a night goun
two towels
a quantity of small bottles
one hundred and forty six books
a few book containing journals
a few bundles of Cape Gazets
Thus inventorised at the Cape of Good Hope in the house aforesaid on the 5th day of the month of February
1828 according to a statement made by M:r Breda who declared to have acted herein bonafide and that to the
best of his knowledge he has not withheld or secreted anything that belonged to the aforesaid estate, and the
said appearer further declared that he is and will at all times be ready and willing to confirm his statement by
solemn oath if required, promising at this auction that if after the date of these presents any property of this
estate might be discovered, shall and will faithfully communicate it to the Orphan Chamber in order to
amplify this inventory with this property so discovered
