En avril 2000, le New York Times publiait un rapport rédigé en 1954 par l’un des agents de la CIA ayant orchestré
l’opération TPAJAX, le coup d’État iranien de 1953. Peu après la publication de ce rapport, sous l’administration
Clinton, les États-Unis ont, pour la première fois en près de 50 ans, reconnu publiquement leur participation au
renversement du gouvernement nationaliste et populaire de Mohammad Mossadegh.
Cette performance souligne le 60e anniversaire du coup d’État et puise à diverses sources, documents historiques,
témoignages et ouvrages académiques afin de retracer l’histoire que ni la CIA, ni le New York Times, ni le
gouvernement américain n’ont osé révéler.
Ouster Remixed est l’une des composantes du projet colossal, Headquarters; Pathology of an Ouster
(http://headquarters.opinionware.net), que Gita Hashemi inclut dans son exposition solo, The Idea of Freedom,
présentée au MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) du 14 novembre au 14 décembre 2013.
La carrière de Gita Hashemi s’étend sur plus de trente ans. En tant qu’artiste transmédia primée, elle a exposé au
Canada comme à l’étranger, notamment au SIGGRAPH (Los Angeles), le Museo de Arte Contemporáneo (Yucatán)
et le Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (San Francisco). Née à Chiraz en Iran, elle est établie à Toronto.

In April 2000, the New York Times published a report written in 1954 by one of the CIA agents who had designed
operation TPAJAX, the 1953 coup d'état in Iran. Shortly after the publication of this report, the Clinton Administration,
for the first time in nearly 50 years, publicly acknowledged the involvement of the US government in the overthrow of
the popular nationalist government of Mohamad Mossadeq. On the 60th anniversary of the coup, Ouster Remixed
culls from diverse sources - freely mixing historical documents, first-hand accounts, and scholarly work to tell the
story that the CIA, the New York Times and the US Administration wouldn't.
Ouster Remixed is part of Gita Hashemi's larger project Headquarters; Pathology of an Ouster

(Montréal, arts interculturels) November 14 - December 14, 2013.
Gita Hashemi's career has spanned over thirty years. An award-winning transmedia artist, her work has been
exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the SIGGRAPH in Los Angeles, the Museo de Arte
Contemporáneo in the Yucatán, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. She was born in Shiraz,
Iran, and is based in Toronto.
