The Federation of Medical Women of Canada invites you to a special breakfast presentation to
provide an update on human papillomavirus.
The primary public health goal of an immunization programme is to stop the spread of infection
and ultimately of disease. Today, we know that HPV causes far more than just cervical cancer. In
fact, HPV is now known to be behind an increasing number of cases of cancer that impact males,
in addition to other diseases such as genital warts.
Canadian scientific experts, medical societies and patient groups recommend HPV vaccination for
males to protect them against its related infections and diseases.
"The only efficient way to stop the virus is to also vaccinate the other half of the
sexually active population: boys and men." (Dr. Harald zu Hausen, 2008 Nobel Prize winner
in medicine for his discovery of HPV causing cancer)
