Materials Example of project: CORNET Biopolymers The primary objective of the project is the development of uniform standards, adapted for specific applications of the packaging branch. The project is focussed on different grades of polylactic acid. The objectives can be summarised to the following focuses: o o o o o 26 Overview of available materials according the optimized usage Guidelines for converter Knowledge of legal framework due to packaging materials for food Marketing of Biopolymers all over Europe towards the European Community as well as towards the end-users Impulse for advancements increase the application of PLA as a biodegradable material in Europe Plastipolis cluster: 3. New products Example of project: MULTIHYDRID Project coordinator: The project has a 6 million Euro budget funded by EC. It involves 22 partners representing most of the European countries (Italy, France, UK, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic and Portugal) 3 Plastipolis partners: •Firms: Schneider Electric and Plastiques RG (SME) •Laboratory: CNRS IMP 27 Objectives Instrumentation and methodology for sensor based in-line monitoring; control of processing of new multifunctional polymer nanomaterials. In-situ grafting of nanofillers in flowing polymer melts; inprocess analysis of the influence of compatibilizing agents and processing parameters on dispersion and distribution of nanoparticles In-extruder synthesis and functionalisation of nanofillers and hybrids.
