NOTE DE PRESSE ET RECOMPENSES
CHATEAU BOUTISSE
MILLESIME 2015

VINOUS Media – Antonio Galloni Score: 91-94
The 2015 Boutisse is unusual in that it emerges from a property with Carmenère, which is highly
unusual in Saint-Emilion. A rich, boisterous wine, the 2015 possesses striking depth and considerable
freshness to balance the exuberance of the vintage. Raspberry jam, mint, sweet spices, mint and rose
petal meld into the silky, nuanced finish. The blend is 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10%
Carmenère, fermented in equal parts tank and barrel. Alain Raynaud is the consulting winemaker.
 JANCIS ROBINSON (Richard Hemming) – Score : 17+/20
Spicy, fragrant and complex with a peppery character that could almost be Rhône. Plenty of sweet
fruit to balance with a long, opulent and juicy style. Very enjoyable, very immediate and full of
potential – seriously good! Drink 2019-2029

MARKUS DEL MONEGO – Score: 90
Dark purple red with violet hue and black core. Opulent aroma reminiscent of coffee and sweet
elderberries, vanilla and hints of leather. On the palate white pepper and vanilla, oak spices and ripe
fruit, firm tannins and very good length.
 YVES BECK – Note 90-92/100
A suivre.
2022-2032

Jean Marc QUARIN: Score : 15.5/20 (88)
bouche. 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Carmenère.
 CHRISTER BYKLUM – 86-89
Ruby, dark fruits, vanilla, spices, ripe nose, touch of minerals. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, dark
berries, structured, bit woody finish.
MILLESIME 2014

WINESPECTATOR – J. MOLESWORTH – Score: 88–91 6 Avril 2015
Features a hefty coating of ganache and mocha, with a core of plum and boysenberry fruit waiting in
the background. The broad, velvety finish lets the toast hold sway. Ambitious. Hopefully the fruit will
push through.—J.M

ROBERT PARKER – Note: 89-91
The Château Boutisse 2014, which includes a dash of Carmènere, has an attractive bouquet with
lifted black cherry and cassis fruit that is nicely controlled. There is a pleasant, earthy tincture here.
The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, slightly chalky tannin with good precision on the
finish. This should be worth seeking out once in bottle. Stylish.


Jean Marc QUARIN: Score : 86
VINOUS Media – Antonio Galloni Score: 88-91
The 2014 Boutisse offers lovely up-front richness and textural depth in a forward, fruit driven style
endowed with considerable appeal. Today, the new oak is not totally integrated, most likely the
result of malolactic fermentations that were done in steel, which means the wines went into barrel
on the late side.
 DECANTER – James Lawther – Score : 15.5/20
Modern and oaky in style . Plush fruit. Firm but slightly drying finish. Drink 2019-2024.
 DECANTER – Jancis Robinson – Score : 16/20
85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Carmenère.
Darkest cherry red. Lovely pure dark fruit aroma with just a hint of oak sweetness and cedar, maybe
a slight dark char. Cool and very fresh on the palate, relatively restrained and on the slim side giving
an elegance overall, with fine, dry tannins adding freshness to the finish. Not particularly intense but
refined and harmonious. (JH) Drink 2018-2024

Neil Martin – Score: 89-91

JACQUES PERRIN – Score: 88
3-8 ans
THE WINE PATRIOT- Antoon Laurent – Score : 87-88 Fruits rouges, bouche souple et
ronde.
Touche
suave en bouche, tannins granuleux, agréables. Caractère élégant, il faut juste que le
tout s’équilibre. Un vin à savourer dans sa jeunesse. 2017-2026.
MILLESIME 2013

WINESPECTATOR – J. MOLESWORTH – Note: 87-90 – Avril 2014
“Features a juicy core of plum and blackberry fruit, lined with hints of licorice root and briar. A touch
taut, but shows good flesh. Should knit well enough.”-

ROBERT PARKER – Note: 85-87 – Wine Advocate #214 Août 2014
“This attractive, chunky, solid St.-Emilion reveals ripe black currant and cherry notes as well as subtle
oak in the background. However, like so many 2013s, it narrows out and the finish is short and
uninteresting. Drink it over the next 4-5 years.”

ROBERT PARKER – Note: 86-88 - Wine Advocate #206 Avril 2013
“Composed of 90% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and, intriguingly, 5% Carmenere, the straightforward
2012 Boutisse exhibits lots of red and black fruits as well as hints of tapenade, underbrush and new
oak, good density, medium body and a slightly angular, abrupt finish. Drink it over the next 8-10
years.”

WINESPECTATOR – J. MOLESWORTH – Note: 88-91 – Avril 2013
“Features plum and loganberry fruit, with dark mocha caressing the finish. Reliant on the toast, but
the depth and mouthfeel here will win some fans for sure.”


WINESPECTATOR – J. MOLESWORTH – Note: 90 – Avril 2014
“A lively anise note runs through the tasty blackberry and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors, with lots of
sweet toasted spice hints hanging on the finish. This is a fruit-driven style, exhibiting the range and
freshness to be engaging all the way through. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenère. Drink
now through 2017. 5,800 cases made. ”—J.M.

ROBERT PARKER – Note: 90-92 – Avril 2014
“This St.-Emilion sleeper of the vintage is composed of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. (The
property is located near such overachievers as Barde-Haut, La Fleur Cardinale and Destieux.) A dense
purple color is accompanied by copious aromas of cassis and kirsch intertwined with hints of licorice,
new oak and underbrush. Enjoy this medium to full-bodied, impressively endowed 2011 over the
next decade.” Drink 2012-2022.

Jancis ROBINSON – Note: 16 – Mars 27, 2012
“Purplish crimson. Intriguing, old-school nose. Solid and salty rather than particularly sweet. Quite a
bit of acidity and tannin. Not enormous concentration but attractive elements and distinctiveness
here.” Drink 2016-2025.

DECANTER – J. LAWTER – Note : 15.5 points – Avril 16, 2012
“Plump, round and exuberant. Chocolate-mocha notes. Overt and fleshy with a tannic grip on the
finish.” Drink 2016-2024.

J.M QUARIN – Note : 14.75 – Avril 2012
Cadet Bon, Canon … » J.M QUARIN Rapport 4 du 15 avril 2012.

«A plush, alluring style, with velvety tannins letting the raspberry ganache, blackberry pâte de fruit
and plum sauce notes glide along, backed by accents of charcoal and singed apple wood on the
finish. »

Neal MARTIN – Note: 87-89 – Avril 2011
“A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, in 2010 they are raising 10-12% of the crop in 400litre Burgundy barrels with extended batonnage. The nose is well-defined with just a hint of espresso
interlacing the ripe black fruits and the Cabernet Franc imparting a hint of bell pepper. The palate is
full-bodied and peppery on the entry. Tasted April 2011.”


J.M QUARIN – Note : 14 – Avril 2011
Jancis ROBINSON – Note: 16+ - Avril 2011

Very concentrated and mineral. I’d keep this quite a while. Chock full of energy. Drink 2018-2032”



ROBERT PARKER – Note: 89 – Février 2012
“ A sleeper of the vintage, this is possibly the best wine I have tasted from Boutisse. Coming from
a vineyard near Fleur Cardinale, the wine displays beautiful raspberry and black cherry fruit as
well as hints of roasted herbs, charcoal and barbecue smoke. Deep, fleshy and very attractive,
with low acidity and heady fruit, this wine should drink well for 10-15 years.”

DECANTER – Note: 16*** - James Lawther – Avril 2010
" One of the good value offerings in this vintage (continues the progress made since 2005). Deep
colour. Round, succulent. Plenty of dark fruit with balancing acidity. Drink 2015-2025. "

Jancis ROBINSON – Note: 16+ - Avril 2010
"Smoky, charred notes on the nose. Mid palate weight. Solid with attractive polish. Fine tannins. All
the ingredients are there in the right balance. We just have to wait. Drink 2016-2024. "

Neil MARTIN – Note: 88-90 - Mars 2010
" This has a lifted ripe red-berried nose, with touches of orange zest, vanilla pod and cherry liqueur.
Moderate definition. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, nicely balance with ripe black
cherry, blueberry and cassis, nicely poised on the finish. A modern style Saint-Emilion, deftly made.
Drink 2012-2019.

Alan DURAN – Note: 90-92 – Periodic Review of Bordeaux Wine – 2010
"Skillful consulting efforts with Alain Raynaud has contributed to the quality of this solid and
concentrated wine. Its opaque purple hue is followed by aromatics of plum liqueur, blueberry, meat
juices, crème de cassis, and burning embers. The 2009 Boutisse is plum infused, full-bodied, dense
and fabulous with a silky edge and a nice definition to the fruit. This fresh, deep, and seamless wine
offers outstanding potential. Maturity period: 2013-2023. "

REGIONAL TROPHY DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS
ROBERT PARKER – Note: 88-90 – Avril, 2009
" A strong effort for this fairly-priced cuvee, the 2008 is one of the finest wines I have tasted from
Boutisse. Displaying spicy oak, tobacco leaf, licorice, and smoky elements intermixed with sweet red
and black currant fruit, this ripe, round, generous St.-Emilion is ideal for drinking during its first 12-15
years of life. "

Jancis ROBINSON/Julia HARDING – Note: 17 - Avril 15, 2009
" Both fresh and ripe. Zesty and fragrant on the mid palate, even slightly floral. Dense but in no way
heavy. Long. Drink 2012-18. (JH) "

Robert Parker – eRobertParker.com #219 Note: 90
From a relatively large estate of 60 acres stretching across the limestone plateau of St.-Emilion, a
nose of currants and black cherries interwoven with spring flowers jumps from the glass of this
opaque purple wine. Some light to moderate tannins are still present, but the wine is medium to fullbodied and much more impressive than I remember it earlier in life. This sleeper of the vintage is
nicely textured, pure, and capable of lasting another 12-15+ years.
