Selective rare earth elements recycling process
TECHNOLOGY OFFER Selective rare earth elements recycling process Cleantech / Recycling / Critical materials RARE EARTH [L1502] KEYWORDS RARE EARTH METALS / RECYCLING / CO2 APPLICATIONS Recycling of rare earth metals (RRE) TARGET MARKETS Electronic wastes (smartphone, computer, hard drives) Permanent magnets (wind turbine) Batteries (electric vehicles) Catalysts, fluorescent lighting, glass mirrors DESCRIPTION A new solution to recycle rare eath elements (RREs) from industrial wastes with a high selectivity has been found out. This process, performed easily and with a low cost, relies on the use of multicomponent assembled architectures, assembling and disassembling upon CO2 adjunction, and capable of capturing rare metals on a reversible manner. It provides a high efficiency solution to supply these critical raw materials, notably to European Union where recycling solution are known to address only 1% of the needs. COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES High rare-earth elements capture selectivity Reversible process One-step process Low cost process Performed at room temperature Environmental-friendly process : no toxic solvents DEVELOPMENT STATUS Technology readiness level Proof of concept : lab-scale experiments on mixtures of RREs Further developments on going on industrial wastes TRL 4 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY 1st Patent pending FR134510, extended in US, EP, CN, JP 2nd patent pending FR1653968 PARTNERSHIP PULSALYS is looking for industrial partners willing to provide industrially relevant & challenging mixtures to test this process. We also look for companies interested in a co-development or in a licence agreement to use this technology at an industrial scale.
