Ecole Nationale Superieure d`Architecture de
Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Normandie
higher education state school under Ministry of Culture and Communication supervision
Located in the town of Darnétal near Rouen (76), the ENSA Normandie settled down in 1984
in a former elastic braces factory , true testimony of the architecture of the late 19th century,
at the heart of a characteristic 2.5 hectare landscaped park. After the rehabilitation carried
out by the architects Patrice Mottini and Pierre Dufflo, the school now offers 4,000 m2 of floor
space dedicated to the teaching of architecture.
An hour from Paris, at the confluence of five departments and two regions, Basse-Normandie
and Haute-Normandie, the ENSA Normandie benefits from both the exposure of the capital and
quality of life of the Normandy region.
Its integration at the local, regional and national levels, is probably at the origin of its very
specific identity:
- strong commitment to analyze contemporary changes by training reactive professionals able
to cope with the new stakes resulting from the diversification of jobs in architecture.
- deep desire to be rooted in contextual issues with the redevelopment of sites in urban,
industrial and port wastelands.
The ENSA Normandie belongs to the network of the twenty French architecture schools
under the authority of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. The school is a founding
member of the CESAR (Conference of Higher Education of Greater Rouen ), and member of the
Community of Universities and higher education intitutions Normandy University (COMUE)
