December 2015 - Bistrot La Minette
December 2015 Dîner de Noël A Traditional French Christmas Dinner Dec. 12–30, 2015 Five courses, $65; with wine pairings, $100 Though the French tend to eat rather modestly most of the year, at Christmas dinner, traditionally served from 8 pm until well after midnight on Christmas Eve, they pull out all the stops and feast on luxurious food and lots of it. Chef Kenneth BUSH’s dinner would be at home in any neighborhood bistro in France, or in a French home. In my wife’s family they actually expect us to eat 2–3 dozen oysters, a couple dozen escargots and two types of foie gras (duck and goose) and that is just the appetizers! Our menu touches on all the traditional foods without creating that unpleasant roll-me-out-of-the-dining-room-and-into-bed feeling. —Chef Peter WOOLSEY Huîtres au Raifort Five Oysters, horseradish lemon crème fraîche, chives Charles de Fère “Cuvée Jean-Louis” Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay, Burgundy Velouté de Cèpes et Châtaignes Porcini and chestnut soup, foie gras buttons, parsley oil Domaine de Grandpré “Cuvée Minotaure” Rosè Grenache, Provence Coquilles St-Jacques à l’Américaine Seared scallops, white asparagus, royal trumpet mushrooms, lobster sauce Marcel Giraudon, Aligoté Burgundy Trou Normand Calvados, pear sorbet ($7 supplement) Tournedos de Chevreuil, Sauce Périgueux Bacon-wrapped venison loin, pommes dauphines, seared Brussels sprouts, black truffle and foie gras sauce Les Cadrans de Lassègue Saint-Émillion Grand Cru Merlot/Cabernet Franc, Bordeaux Bûche de Noël Pistachio jaconde yule log, chocolate butter cream, Morello cherry ice cream, meringue Domaine La Tour Vielles, Banyuls Grenache, Southwest France Our Daily Family Dinner Where can you get a three-course dinner cooked from scratch in this city for $25 per person?
