December 2015
Dîner de Noël
A Traditional French Christmas Dinner
Dec. 12–30, 2015
Five courses, $65; with wine pairings, $100
Though the French tend to eat rather modestly most of the year, at Christmas dinner, traditionally served from 8 pm until well
after midnight on Christmas Eve, they pull out all the stops and feast on luxurious food and lots of it. Chef
Kenneth BUSH’s dinner would be at home in any neighborhood bistro in France, or in a French home. In
my wife’s family they actually expect us to eat 2–3 dozen oysters, a couple dozen escargots and two types
of foie gras (duck and goose) and that is just the appetizers! Our menu touches on all the traditional foods
without creating that unpleasant roll-me-out-of-the-dining-room-and-into-bed feeling.
