HOW IT WORKS
SPECIFICATIONS
At the heart of the D-TEK Select Refrigerant Leak Detector
is an infrared absorption filtometer. It consists of a sampling
cell with an infrared source (or emitter) at one end, an infrared energy detector at the other end, and an optical filter in
between them.
Like the visible light we see, infrared energy is part of the
electromagnetic energy spectrum. Most materials absorb
specific and known wavelengths of infrared energy. The
particular wavelengths of energy absorbed by a material are
known as its absorption spectra. All refrigerants have similar
absorption spectra in the range of 7.5 – 14 micrometers.
The infrared source (emitter) creates a high-intensity stream
of energy incorporating all wavelengths in the infrared spectrum. The stream passes through the optical filter, which
blocks all wavelengths except those that refrigerants absorb.
The filtered infrared energy strikes the detector and causes
it to heat up. When refrigerant is drawn through the sampling
cell by the internal pump, some of the infrared energy is
absorbed by the refrigerant. This causes a decrease in
the amount of infrared energy reaching the detector and
a corresponding drop in the detector’s temperature, which
triggers the D-TEK Select to alarm. This whole process takes
a fraction of a second.
By utilizing an optical filter with precise characteristics,
INFICON has made D-TEK Select sensitive to all refrigerants,
while eliminating false alarms. In addition, because there is
no depletion of chemicals like in heated sensor detectors,
the sensor will not be harmed by high refrigerant doses
nor degrade over time. The detector recovery time is also
immediate after the refrigerant clears the cell.

Do you have a non-traditional leak detection application that
a gas detector, soap bubbles or dye injection system can’t
address? Whisper is ideal for detecting and locating ultrasonic frequencies generated when the following common
situations occur:
• leaks of any gas under pressure or vacuum
• electrical arcing
• worn bearings and machinery
• malfunctions in steam traps
• leaking seals
The leak detector includes a specialized built-in receiver that
detects frequencies in the 40.5 kHz range. Through sophisticated circuitry, Whisper locates the ultrasound’s source,
while an internal noise control ensures the instrument is
unaffected by audible noise. This makes Whisper a versatile
tool which can even be used in noisy environments, such as
mechanical rooms.
Whisper incorporates heterodyne capability, which reduces
the ultrasonic frequencies detected to a range that can be
heard by the human ear. Variations can therefore be identified
to easily pin-point the ultrasonic source. Heterodyne output is
enabled when headphones (included) are plugged in to the
detector. Sensitivity is adjusted through an innovative touch
pad. Multiple LEDs and an audible alarm register the leak
when heterodyne mode is not enabled.
For the ultimate in performance and versatility, consider the
Whisper with Accessory Package. Along with the leak detector,
this kit gives you more accessories for more productivity. Use
the contact probe to check machinery’s function. Simply twist
the metal probe onto the instrument and touch it to bearing
housings, solenoids, pistons and other mechanical equipment
to allow frequencies to travel into the Whisper’s ultrasonic
transducer. Properly functioning machinery sounds smooth
and clear, a sharp contrast to malfunctioning machinery.
Use the transmitter to test seals around any enclosed space,
including doors, windows, ducts and refrigerator cases.
Simply turn the transmitter on to generate its ultrasonic tone
and place it in the area you wish to leak test. Trace around
potential problem areas with the Whisper leak detector to
alert you to the transmitter’s ultrasonic frequencies “leaking”
through poorly-sealed areas.
The transmitter and contact probe as well as premium
headphones are included in the accessory package, though
any can be purchased separately for use with the standard
package.

carbon dioxide (R744), the next generation refrigerant.
D-TEK CO2 uses an innovative infrared absorption sensing
cell which is extremely selective to carbon dioxide, yet its
circuitry allows the instrument to equalize to the CO2 present
in the atmosphere, so there is minimal risk of false alarms.
D-TEK CO2 maintains its sensitivity over time for consistent,
accurate and reliable performance. Its specialized infrared
sensor cell lasts for approximately 1,000 hours, so you buy
fewer replacement parts.

For maximum flexibility on the jobsite, Wey-TEK HD Wireless
is available in two different models: an industry first wireless
platform that communicates with and displays through your

beeps when a programmed target refrigerant charge amount

FONCTIONNEMENT
Au cœur du détecteur de fuite de fluide frigorigène
D-TEK Select se trouve un filtomètre à absorption infrarouge.
Celui-ci est constitué d’une cellule d’échantillonnage pourvue
d’une source infrarouge (ou émetteur) à une extrémité, d’un
détecteur d’énergie infrarouge à l’autre extrémité et d’un filtre
optique entre les deux.
Comme la lumière visible, l’énergie infrarouge fait partie
du spectre d’énergie électromagnétique. La plupart des
matériaux absorbent des longueurs d’onde d’énergie
infrarouge spécifiques et connues. Les longueurs d’onde
d’énergie spécifiques absorbées par un matériau sont
appelées ses spectres d’absorption. Tous les fluides
frigorigènes ont des spectres d’absorption similaires, compris
entre 7,5 et 14 micromètres.
La source infrarouge (émetteur) crée un faisceau d’énergie
à haute intensité qui incorpore toutes les longueurs d’onde
du spectre infrarouge. Ce faisceau passe par le filtre optique,
qui bloque toutes les longueurs d’onde à l’exception de
celles absorbées par les fluides frigorigènes. L’énergie
infrarouge filtrée heurte le détecteur et le fait chauffer.
Lorsque du fluide frigorigène est prélevé dans la cellule
d’échantillonnage par l’intermédiaire de la pompe interne,
une partie de l’énergie infrarouge est absorbée par le fluide
frigorigène. Par conséquent, la quantité d’énergie infrarouge
atteignant le détecteur est moins importante, ce qui entraîne
une chute proportionnelle de la température du détecteur
déclenchant l’alarme du D-TEK Select. Tout ce processus ne
prend qu’une fraction de seconde.
En utilisant un filtre optique avec des caractéristiques
précises, INFICON a créé un D-TEK Select sensible à
tout fluide frigorigène sans qu’il y ait de danger de fausses
alarmes. En outre, aucun produit chimique n’étant épuisé
comme dans les détecteurs à capteur chauffé, le capteur
ne sera pas endommagé par de grandes quantités de fluide
frigorigène et il ne se dégradera pas au fil du temps. De plus,
la reprise du détecteur est immédiate dès que la cellule ne
contient plus de fluide frigorigène.

Le détecteur de fuite comprend un récepteur intégré spécial
qui détecte les fréquences dans la plage de 40,5 kHz. Grâce
une circuiterie sophistiquée, le Whisper localise la source
des ultrasons pendant qu’un contrôle du bruit interne assure
que l’instrument n’est pas affecté par un bruit audible. Ceci
fait du Whisper un outil polyvalent qui peut être utilisé même
dans les milieux bruyants, comme les locaux techniques.
Le Whisper incorpore une capacité hétérodyne qui réduit
les fréquences ultrasoniques détectées en une plage
pouvant être entendue par l’oreille humaine. Les variations
peuvent ainsi être identifiées pour repérer la source des
ultrasons. La sortie hétérodyne est activée quand des
écouteurs (inclus) sont branchés au détecteur. La sensibilité
se règle grâce à un pavé tactile innovant. Plusieurs DEL
et une alarme sonore enregistrent la fuite quand le mode
hétérodyne n’est pas activé.
Pour des performances et une polyvalence ultimes,
envisagez le Whisper avec l’ensemble d’accessoires. Outre
le détecteur de fuite, ce kit vous procure des accessoires
supplémentaires pour davantage de productivité. La
sonde de contact permet de vérifier le fonctionnement
des machines. Il suffit d’enfiler la sonde métallique sur
l’instrument et de toucher les cages de roulements, les
solénoïdes, les pistons et autres équipements mécaniques
pour permettre aux fréquences de parcourir le transducteur
ultrasonique du Whisper. Une machine qui fonctionne
correctement émet des sons lisses et clairs, un contraste très
net par rapport aux machines au fonctionnement inadéquat.

l’outil idéal pour retrouver les fuites des appareils à combustion,
comme les systèmes de chauffage au gaz naturel ou
au propane, ou les soupapes de gaz, les détendeurs et

Le GAS-Mate surpasse les autres modèles avec une
sensibilité deux fois supérieure à celle des concurrents
les plus proches, jusqu’à 5 ppm de méthane (le principal
composant du gaz naturel). Le GAS-Mate détecte également
de nombreux autres gaz combustibles, comme le gaz formant,
l’ammoniac, le propane, l’éthanol et le sulfure d’hydrogène.
Le GAS-Mate ou son capteur remplaçable sur le terrain ne
nécessite aucun étalonnage. Il suffit de mettre l’appareil sous
tension, de le laisser chauffer quelques secondes et il est prêt
à repérer rapidement toute fuite de gaz.

Diese Empfindlichkeit des D-TEK Select bleibt über lange Zeit
erhalten, so dass selbst mit den neueren Kältemittelgemischen
eine einheitliche, präzise und zuverlässige Detektion möglich
ist. Besonders bemerkenswert ist die lange Haltbarkeit der
Sensorzelle von etwa 1000 Stunden – fast 10-mal länger als
der frühere-D-TEK-Sensor. So können die Betriebskosten
gesenkt werden und die Produktivität am Einsatzort nimmt zu.
Weitere Verbesserungen sind eine Anzeige für den
Ladezustand und für Sensorfehlfunktionen sowie wiederaufladbare Nickel-Metallhydrid (NiMH)-Batterien. All dies in
einem einfach zu bedienenden Gerät mit
der Qualität und Robustheit wie Sie es von INFICON
gewöhnt sind.

FUNKTIONSWEISE
Das Kernstück des D-TEK Select Kältemittel-Lecksucher
ist ein Infrarot-Spektralphotometer. Es besteht aus einer
Probenahmezelle mit einer Infrarotquelle (dem sog. Emitter)
an einem Ende, einem Infrarotenergiedetektor am anderen
Ende und einem dazwischen angeordneten optischen Filter.
Genauso wie das sichtbare Licht, das wir wahrnehmen,
ist auch Infrarotenergie Teil des elektromagnetischen
Energiespektrums. Die meisten Materialien absorbieren
bestimmte und bekannte Wellenlängen an Infrarotenergie.
Die vom jeweiligen Material absorbierten Wellenlängen konstituieren das sog. Absorptionsspektrum des Materials. Alle
Kältemittel haben ähnliche Absorptionsspektren im Bereich
zwischen 7,5 und 14 Mikrometer.
Die Infrarotquelle (Emitter) erzeugt einen Energiestrahl
hoher Intensität, der alle Wellenlängen des Infrarotspektrums
enthält. Dieser Strahl durchläuft den optischen Filter, der alle
Wellenlängen blockiert, die nicht von Kältemitteln absorbiert
werden. Die gefilterte Infrarotstrahlung trifft dann auf den
Detektor und führt zu seiner Erwärmung. Wenn Kältemittel
mithilfe der internen Pumpe durch die Probenahmezelle
gezogen wird, wird ein Teil der Infrarotenergie vom
Kältemittel absorbiert. Dadurch verringert sich die Menge
der Infrarotenergie, die auf den Detektor trifft, was zu einem
Abfall der Detektortemperatur führt. Dieser Temperaturabfall
löst dann einen Alarm im D-TEK Select aus. Der gesamte
Vorgang spielt sich in einem Bruchteil einer Sekunde ab.
Durch Verwendung eines optischen Filters mit exakt
definierten Kenndaten war INFICON in der Lage, den
Lecksucher D-TEK Select zu entwickeln, der hochempfindlich für alle Kältemittel ist und gleichzeitig falsche
Alarme eliminiert. Außerdem kommt es im Gegensatz zu
beheizten Sensordetektoren nicht zu einer Erschöpfung
von Chemikalien, so dass der Sensor durch hohe
Kältemittelmengen nicht geschädigt oder im Lauf der Zeit
degradiert wird. Der Detektor besitzt eine äußerst kurze
Erholzeit und ist wieder funktionsfähig sobald das Kältemittel
die Zelle verlassen hat.

Führen Sie eine traditionelle Lecksuche mit einem
Gasspürgerät, durch einen Test mit Seifenblasen oder durch
ein System mit Farbstoff- Injektion durch? Das Whisper
Ultraschall-Lecksuchgerät ist optimal geeignet für die
Erkennung und Lokalisierung von Ultraschallfrequenzen,
die bei folgenden häufig auftretenden Situationen erzeugt
werden:
• Leckagen beliebiger Gase unter Druck oder Vakuum
• Funkendurchschlag
• Verschlissene Lager und Maschinen
• Technische Störungen bei Kondensatabscheidern
• Leckagen in Dichtungen
In den Lecksuchgeräten ist ein spezieller Empfänger integriert, der Frequenzen im 40,5-kHz-Bereich erfasst. Das
Whisper-Lecksuchgerät lokalisiert die Ultraschallquelle mithilfe seiner intelligenten Elektronik. Eine interne Überwachung
verhindert, dass das Gerät durch hörbare Geräusche beeinflusst wird. Dadurch wird das Whisper Lecksuchgerät
zu einem vielseitig einsetzbaren Werkzeug, das sich in
geräuschvollen Umgebungen wie z. B in technischen
Betriebsräumen verwenden lässt.
Das Whisper Lecksuchgerät berücksichtigt die Fähigkeit zur
Überlagerung, so dass die erkannten Ultraschallfrequenzen
auf einen Bereich reduziert werden, die vom menschlichen
Gehör wahrgenommen werden können. Veränderungen
lassen sich deshalb zur einfachen Identifizierung der
Ultraschallquelle verwenden. Der Heterodynausgang wird
aktiviert, wenn Kopfhörer (im Lieferumfang enthalten) an das
Lecksuchgerät angeschlossen werden. Die Empfindlichkeit
wird über ein innovatives Touchpad eingestellt. Wenn der
Heterodynmodus nicht aktiviert ist, wird das Leck durch mehrere LEDs und einen akustischen Alarm angezeigt.
Für die optimale Leistung und Vielseitigkeit ergänzen Sie
das Whisper-Lecksuchgerät mit entsprechenden ZubehörPacketen. Gemeinsam mit dem Lecksuchgerät geben Ihnen
diese Kits mehr Zubehör für eine höhere Produktivität. Der
Kontakttaster wird zur Überprüfung der Maschinenfunktion
verwendet. Befestigen Sie die metallene Prüfspitze einfach
am Instrument und halten Sie sie gegen Lagergehäuse,
Magnetschalter, Kolben und andere mechanische Elemente,
so dass die Frequenzen in den Ultraschallwandler des
Whisper-Lecksuchers gelangen. Im Gegensatz zu fehlerhaften Maschinen erzeugt eine ordnungsgemäß arbeitende
Maschine gleichmäßige und wohldefinierte Geräusche.
Der Transmitter wird verwendet, um Dichtungen um geschlossene Bereiche zu überprüfen, darunter Türen, Fenster,
Kanäle und Kühlschrankgehäuse. Schalten Sie einfach
den Transmitter ein, um einen Ultraschallton zu erzeugen und platzieren Sie den Transmitter in den Bereich der
Leckprüfung. Tasten Sie potenzielle Problembereiche mithilfe
des Whisper-Lecksuchers ab, wobei schlecht abgedichtete
Bereiche durch die „leckenden“ Ultraschallfrequenzen des
Transmitters angezeigt werden.
Der Transmitter, der Kontakttaster und Premium-Kopfhörer
sind im Lieferumfang des Zubehör-Kits enthalten; diese
Teile können jedoch auch separat zur Verwendung mit dem
Standardpack gekauft werden.

INFICON bietet als einziger Hersteller einen tragbaren
Lecksucher zum ausschließlichen Nachweis von Kohlendioxid
(R744), dem Kältemittel der nächsten Generation.
Das Lecksuchgerät D-TEK CO2 verwendet eine
Infrarotabsorptions-Messzelle mit äußerst hoher Selektivität
für Kohlendioxid. Der D-TEK CO2 kompensiert das in der
Atmosphäre enthaltene Kohlendioxid elektronisch elektronisch, so dass das Risiko von Fehlalarmen gering ist.
Die Empfindlichkeit des D-TEK CO2 bleibt im Einsatzzeitraum
erhalten, so dass eine konsistente, genaue und zuverlässige
Leistung gewährleistet ist. Die spezialisierte Infrarotsensorzelle
besitzt eine Haltbarkeit von etwa 1000 Stunden, so dass
weniger Ersatzteile benötigt werden.

VAKUUMZYKLUS
Das INFICON Pilot® Plus-Vakuummessgerät verfügt über
mehrere innovative Funktionsmerkmale und bietet
unübertroffene Leistung. Ähnlich wie beim PilotVakuummessgerät handelt es sich hierbei um ein Messgerät,
bei dem ein Pirani-Sensor verwendet wird. Dies ermöglicht
eine größere Messgenauigkeit und Messungen des gesamten Vakuumprozesses, von Atmosphärendruck bis herab auf
ein Vakuum von einem Mikrometer. So wissen Sie sofort, ob
Ihre Anschlüsse vakuumfest sind.
Der Pilot Plus ist jedoch noch einmaliger: Ein branchenweit
einzigartiger Filter schützt den Sensor vor Öl und anderen
Schadstoffen, liefert präzisere Messwerte und eliminiert die
Reinigung des Vakuumsensors. Eine schnelle Kalibrierung
gestattet die Anpassung des Pilot Plus an geringfügige
Abweichungen des Atmosphärendrucks an Ihrem Standort
für höhere Messgenauigkeit. Eine 9-V-Batterie hat eine
Lebensdauer bis zu 45 Stunden, was die Produktivität am
Arbeitsplatz fördert. Das ist dreimal länger als die frühere
Version. Zur Erhaltung dieser langen Batterielebensdauer
schaltet sich das Pilot Plus nach 60 Minuten automatisch
ab. Der letzte Messwert wird zur Anzeige beim nächsten
Einschalten gespeichert. Eine benutzerfreundliche, große
und leicht lesbare LCD-Anzeige und ein Aufbewahrungs
behälter aus Kunststoff runden das Pilot Plus-Paket ab.

Mit dem GAS-Mate setzt INFICON Maßstäbe für
Brenngas-Lecksucher der nächsten Generation. Der
GAS-Mate ist das ideale Werkzeug zur Aufspürung von
Lecks bei Feuerungsanlagen wie z. B. Erdgas- oder
Propangasheizungen, bei Gasventilen, Druckregelgeräten
oder an Pipelines.
In punkto Empfindlichkeit übertrifft GAS-Mate andere Modelle
des nächsten Konkurrenten um das Doppelte - bis herunter zu 5 ppm Methan, dem Hauptbestandteil von Erdgas.
GAS-Mate kann außerdem zahlreiche andere brennbare
Gase wie Formiergas, Ammoniak, Propan, Ethanol und
Schwefelwasserstoff nachweisen.
Eine Kalibrierung des GAS-Mate oder seines vor Ort austauschbaren Sensors ist nicht erforderlich. Das Gerät einfach
einschalten, ein paar Sekunden lang aufwärmen lassen, und
eventuell vorhandene Gasleckagen können sofort lokalisiert
werden.
Als Beweis seiner Leistung und Robustheit für Ihren Job
wird der GAS-Mate mit einer branchenführenden 3-jährigen Austauschgarantie geliefert - dreimal länger als die
Garantieleistung der meisten anderen Hersteller.
