French Extension Course Prescriptions Higher School Certificate 2014–2018 Foreword The HSC course prescriptions for French Extension contain information about the Higher School Certificate for 2014–2018. The HSC course prescriptions should be read in conjunction with: • the French Extension Stage 6 Syllabus and other support documents • the Official Notices section of the Board of Studies website and as published in the Board’s electronic newsletter, the Board Bulletin. There is a prescribed text required for study in the French Extension course. The Board of Studies reserves the right to make changes to the prescribed text listed in this document. A number of issues that exemplify aspects of the theme are prescribed for study. Students engage with the issues through the study of a prescribed text and related texts. The prescribed issues are mandatory, the dash points are not. They are suggestions only and are included to give a sense of the scope of the prescribed issues. 3. Study of the text prescribed for any Higher School Certificate course may not begin before the completion of the Preliminary course. This exclusion applies to study in the Preliminary French Continuers course and to Preliminary courses in other subjects. It also applies to the study of a prescribed text in another medium, such as the film of a novel. 4.
