Discussing the News: Excellent Resources
The Virtual Library provides access to a number of great news resources,
including local online newspapers such as the Gazette and La Presse. In
addition to these, there is also a resource known as SCOOP. SCOOP is a
French-language news aggregating resource that is tailored to classroom
usage. It features wide-ranging news content and activities and ideas to
take discussion in interesting directions. Each story has suggestions and
ideas for your classroom, and many come complete with PDF worksheets
that are intended for classroom reproduction.

Great for ERC!
Finding great ERC materials
is a breeze with the EMSB’s
Virtual Library.
NFB/ONF features some
excellent material, including
such titles as: Sexy Inc., a
documentary about the
sexualisation of children in our
culture; XS Stress; a film
featuring adolescents
discussing the pressures of
their daily lives; Bronwen &
Yaffa: Moving Towards
Tolerance, a film about
overcoming racism through
education and sharing; and
Seven Digital Deadly Sins, an
interactive collection of
reflections on digital media
usage and its meaning in our
lives.
Meanwhile, Learn 360 offers
clips and feature-length content
about decision making and
ethics - pertinent to many
topics and age ranges.
EduMedia, too, has all kinds
of animated models, quizzes,
and interactive modules to
teach kids about human
reproduction basics in a
succinct and clear fashion.
Students can interact at the lab
or watch it on your classroom
whiteboard.
