You could start the lesson by introducing yourself: “ Bonjour, je m’appelle Madame Ayel. Je suis une fille. Je suis énergique. ” Then ask questions to the whole class to check comprehension “J e suis une fille ? Je suis un garçon ? Je suis une fille ou un garçon ? Je suis énérgique ? Je suis calme ? Je suis calme ou énergique ?.... ” 2. Move on by asking personal questions to your students using the adjectives from the grid: “ Tu es énergique aussi (write that “aussi” means “too” on the board) ? Tu es calme ou énérgique ? Tu es une fille ? Tu es talentueuse ? Tu es talentueuse au piano ? Tu es talentueuse en espagnol ? ….” Try using cognates if you are using new words and start with “ Tu es une fille ou un garçon? ” to then move on to the correct adjective ending, feminine if the student is a girl or masculine if the student is a boy. 3. Give out the above handout “ Comment est ta personnalité ? Activité orale.” to each of your students. Ask them to look at the adjectives in the grid and to answer question one: “ Pourquoi des mots de la grille sont en vert, bleu ou rose ? ”. You can try to make your students answer in French even if it is a grammar question: “ C’est bleu parce que c’est pour un garçon? C’est rose pour une fille ? C’est vert pour un garçon et une fille ?” . 4. By now students are ready to do the oral activity in pairs. They walk around in the classroom and ask another student “ Tu es calme ? ”. If that student answers “ oui ” then he/she can write his/her name in the “ calme” box. Students can stop the activity when they have 4 different names in a row. Before starting the activity, make sure you model it with 4 different students (boys and girls) by focusing on the correct adjective endings. 5. Followup activities: ● Students can then write their findings down: “ Paul est sérieux, Ana est amusante. ” ● The teacher writes the list of adjectives on the board. Students tell you their findings and the teacher puts a tick next to the adjectives they say. The teacher can ask “ Combien de personnes sont positives dans la classe ?” (make sure students know what the question word “ combien ? ” means). It is way to review numbers in French. Students can then draw a chart with the results from the board. ● One student can tell the whole class: “ C’est un garçon, il est sérieux.” and the rest of the class has to guess who s/he is: “ C’est Paul ? ”. http://www.aliceayel.com/
