ALL IN!
Building membership, building power, building our union.
2015 Unifor Organizing Forum
August 17 – 18, 2015
Montréal, Québec
Union members know that individual workers face great challenges in today’s job market. On their own,
workers can never hope to improve working conditions, protections and their socio-economic situation.
Only by being members of a union, through representation and collective bargaining, can workers win
the power to improve and protect their living standards.
Organizing builds unions as credible, influential, and lasting organizations. But for the union, organizing
is not just about getting more members. It is about solidifying and expanding our strength, power and
influence – in workplaces and in society. New membership and density increase our power and
influence in our companies and sectors and in the broader political arena. They also help us to defend
the historical gains that are embodied in our existing collective agreements: it simply won’t be possible
for already unionized workers to hang onto their existing compensation and conditions, if the influence
of unionization and collective bargaining continues to wane in the face of employer and government
attacks.
Unifor’s very first Organizing Forum will tackle these issues head on:




How do we organize effectively?
How do we reach out to other workers in our existing workplaces and communities?
How to maximize our chances of success with new workers interested in joining Unifor?
And many more!

The Organizing Forum will be a chance to hear from inspiring speakers, learn tricks from the field with
experienced organizers, and map out the next steps of building a fighting organizing union. You’ll leave
the forum with concrete tools to take the next step to organize more workers in your sector and region,
despite challenging labour laws and organizing environments.
This forum is open to local unions interested in gaining more power at the bargaining table and playing a
role in Unifor’s organizing program.
The Organizing Forum will take place at the Palais des Congrès, 1001 Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle, Montréal,
Quebec.
