By the time March comes around, most of us look forward
to the end of winter. The great news is that there are only
a few weeks of it left, and at least one of those weeks is
a treat: March break, the perfect excuse to head somewhere fun with the family. In this issue – our 50th! – we have
a few ideas for you. Mont-Tremblant, for example, where ice
fishing, cross-country skiing and other kid-friendly activities
will help you get the most out of precious family time.
We also take a stroll through the cool side of Capitol Hill,
in Washington DC, and discover great restaurants, shops
and activities for visitors of all ages. And we’ve compiled
our regular list of must-visit spots in all the destinations we
fly to, which range from warm, beachside getaways like
Orlando-Melbourne, in Florida, to urban oases like New
York City, Chicago and Montréal. Because whether you prefer spending March break at great museums, in flip-flops or
in snow boots, all you have to do is turn to the map at the
back of this magazine: we have two dozen destinations to
offer you and yours. With Porter at the helm, good times
are guaranteed.

Amid federal buildings and historic houses,
Capitol Hill, in Washington DC, has become
home to an eclectic mix of businesses and
locals. À Washington DC, entre bâtiments

Despite its status as the seat of power in Washington, Capitol
Hill exudes a refreshingly low-key neighbourhood vibe, perhaps because of its popularity among young families looking to settle down without settling for the suburbs. Just
minutes from the city’s top tourist attractions – the Capitol,
the National Mall and its collection of museums, for starters
– this two-square-mile enclave manages to remain blissfully
free of tourist traps. With block after block of historic row
houses, it’s an ideal destination for a relaxing stroll that ends
with a top-notch dinner. A flea market adds even more local
flavour on the weekends, while the year-round combination of green space, striking architecture and stellar dining
makes it a one-stop shop for visitors and residents alike.

Helmed by chef Jamie Leeds, this seafood haven has been a Washington
staple since the original Dupont Circle
location opened in 2005. The Capitol
Hill outpost, with a 60-seat restaurant,
opened in 2012 and has been dishing out the city’s best raw oysters, fried
clams and lobster rolls ever since. Dirigé

With the opening of Sona (“happy” in
Gaelic) in 2013, Capitol Hill became
home to Washington’s first and only
creamery. Here, husband-and-wife
duo Conan and Genevieve O’Sullivan
stock more than 100 cheeses, including several varieties that are made on
the premises. The staff also curates
party-ready cheeseboards featuring a
rotating selection; flavour profiles range
from approachable to esoteric. Visit
the cozy restaurant for dinner – grilled
cheese, mac and cheese and poutine
are menu standouts – or go all out and
take a class on cheese making or wineand-cheese pairing. Depuis l’ouverture

Library of Congress is the oldest federal
cultural institution in the United States. It’s
also the largest library in the world, with
more than 160 million books, recordings

The Hill is walkable, offers easy access

market building in DC. But what I love
most are the alleys running through the
blocks of townhouses. Some of these
alleys have great carriage houses and
industrial buildings that house artists
and musicians. Capitol Hill offre un

I’m a barrister, a senior partner in the commercial litigation group and the Chairman Emeritus at Borden
Ladner Gervais LLP, the largest full-service Canadian law
firm with over 725 lawyers in five offices nationwide. My
practice focuses on commercial litigation, administrative law
and constitutional law. I work a lot out of our Toronto office,
and regularly argue cases in Toronto, Ottawa and Montréal, often in appellate courts including the Supreme Court
of Canada.
Je suis avocat, associé et président émérite au sein
de Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, le plus grand cabinet juridique du Canada, avec plus de 725 avocats répartis dans
cinq bureaux. Mes domaines sont le litige commercial, le
droit administratif et constitutionnel. Je travaille beaucoup
en dehors de notre bureau torontois, et je plaide régulièrement à Toronto, Ottawa et Montréal, souvent dans des
tribunaux d’appel, y compris la Cour suprême du Canada.
Even though I’m one of a million who do this job, I’m
glad to be able to make some small contribution to
the cause of justice on a day-to-day basis. It’s extraordinarily satisfying to participate in a process where the most
difficult issues are resolved peacefully and rationally.

There is no regular workday in my job, but in essence
I’m either preparing to go to court or going to court.
I work with a team of firm colleagues (and often clients
themselves) who help me prepare the arguments to be presented in court. Teamwork is key to this stage. I like to interact with people, be challenged, and I thrive on a collegial
approach. True, as soon as you’re in court, you’re basically
alone, standing up and arguing your case, but one’s performance really depends upon the teamwork that preceded it.
Dans ma profession, chaque jour est différent, mais
soit je me prépare à plaider, soit je suis déjà au tribunal. Je travaille avec une équipe de collègues (et souvent
des clients) qui m’aident à préparer les arguments que je
présenterai en cour. Pendant cette étape, le travail d’équipe
est crucial. J’aime l’interaction, les défis et la collaboration.

If my performance in court is any good, it is probably
95 percent due to the work that people have done
helping me prepare. I often say that the best Hamlet on a
stage still owes 99 percent of their performance to Shakespeare. And so, all I do in the end is put forward the ideas
and say the words that have been developed with a team.
Si je donne une bonne prestation au tribunal, c’est
sans doute dû à 95 % au travail de préparation de
mon équipe. Je dis souvent que le meilleur Hamlet doit

Anyone who is ambitious knows that extreme hard
work is inevitable for success. Passion, devotion to
the clients and their causes, and absolute integrity are other
qualities needed as a lawyer. But there is no magic formula – it’s all about being driven by passion for perfection.
I’m obsessed with doing the best job I possibly can, and
this takes a lot of work, seven days a week. It’s the life of
a lawyer.
I think it’s inevitable for any lawyer with a modicum
of conscience to get involved in pro bono cases. You
can’t practice law without being made to realize that there
are so many people who don’t have access to legal assistance. Although theoretically courts are open to everyone, in
practice they are not. Our job is to make sure that everyone
has a voice in court, and pro bono involvement is part of the
answer. I am very proud that BLG supports a variety of pro
bono initiatives.

Toute personne qui a de l’ambition sait que travailler
fort est essentiel pour réussir. La passion, le dévouement aux clients et à leurs causes ainsi que l’intégrité absolue sont des qualités requises pour être avocat. Mais il n’y a
pas de formule magique : il faut avoir la passion de la perfection. Je suis obsédé par l’idée de donner le maximum
dans mon travail, et cela exige beaucoup de moi, sept jours
par semaine. C’est la vie d’un avocat.
Je crois qu’il est inévitable pour tout avocat ayant un
brin de conscience de s’investir dans des dossiers de
façon bénévole. On ne peut pas être homme de loi sans
réaliser que bien des gens n’ont pas accès à l’aide légale.
Même si en théorie, les tribunaux sont ouverts à tous, en
pratique ce n’est pas le cas. Notre tâche est de faire en
sorte que chacun ait accès à la justice et le bénévolat fait
partie de la solution. Je suis très fier du soutien de BLG à
diverses initiatives de ce type.
J’ai entamé ma carrière en Ontario, puis j’ai pratiqué
au Québec, où, à l’époque, il n’existait pas de système
de bénévolat comparable à celui de l’Ontario sous la houlette de Pro Bono Ontario. Plusieurs autres personnes et
moi avons mis sur pied Pro Bono Québec, qui permet à de
nombreux cabinets de consacrer du temps et des ressources humaines à de tels cas.
Mon trajet hebdomadaire c’est Ottawa-Toronto sur
Porter. Ma résidence principale est à Ottawa, là où vit ma
femme. Mais la majeure partie de ma semaine de travail
se fait à Toronto. J’adore le côté pratique de Porter, surtout depuis l’ouverture du tunnel piétonnier à l’aéroport Billy
Bishop. Maintenant, cinq minutes après être descendu de
l’avion, je suis dans un taxi vers le centre-ville. Cinq minutes!
C’est incroyable.
I started my legal career in Ontario, but later I also
began to practice in the province of Québec, which, at
that time, didn’t have as sophisticated a system of pro bono
work as Ontario had under the aegis of Pro Bono Ontario.
So, together with a whole lot of other people, we set up Pro
Bono Québec, where a number of firms dedicated their time
and human resources to cases of this type.
Porter’s Ottawa-Toronto route is my weekly commute.
My main house is in Ottawa, where my wife is, but I spend
most of my working week in Toronto. I love the overall convenience of flying Porter, especially since the pedestrian
tunnel has opened at Billy Bishop airport. Now, it only takes
about five minutes to get from the plane to a cab to downtown Toronto. Five minutes! That’s pretty amazing.

Comment je me détends après le travail? Je crains
que ce ne soit pas ma force. Lorsque je réussis à m’éloigner un peu du travail, j’adore le vélo, la lecture, la musique,
les spectacles, les soirées au resto entre amis et les voyages avec ma femme. Je dois dire que je ne suis pas le plus
discipliné en matière de détente, mais au moins j’essaie •
My father was the chairman and CEO of Air Canada
for seven years in the late 60s and early 70s. I don’t
have a background in the aviation industry myself, but I
do admire the entrepreneurial spirit of Bob Deluce and his
courage in developing this airline in an extremely competitive environment. The experience of flying can often be frustrating, but with Porter it’s the opposite. It’s great to see
how their staff are enjoying their work.
How do I unwind from work? I’m afraid I’m not so
good at that. However, if I do get away from it all for a bit,
I’m an avid cyclist, and I read, listen to music, go to concerts, meet friends for dinner and go travelling with my wife.
I have to say, I’m not the most disciplined person when it
comes to relaxing, but I’m trying •

A getaway to a ski resort isn’t always a thrill-seeking escape. Sometimes it’s about equilibrium.
Most visitors to Mont-Tremblant, a postcard-perfect town in Québec’s Laurentian Mountains, are
drawn to the slopes. Makes sense. There are 96
runs and 645 metres (about 2,100 feet) of vertical, and it’s regularly ranked as North America’s
top downhill destination east of the Rockies. But
the need for speed is not universal. On a winter
weekend, some people want to ease off the gas,
to slip away from the crowds. To surrender to the
snow. These down-tempo trips don’t demand
silence or solitude, though there’s nothing wrong
with either. The goal, in essence, is balance. An
optimal blend of fast and slow, hot and cold, loud
and quiet, traditional and modern. And when
you’re travelling as a family, the more options you
have, the merrier everybody will be.
If some members of your brood are hooked
on rocketing down hills, they can gear up at one
of the three rental centres in Mont-Tremblant’s
pedestrian village. Even before 8 a.m., with the
mercury hovering around minus-20 degrees Celsius and the lifts open only to hotel guests and
others with early-bird tickets, these outlets are
bustling. Alpine enthusiasts safely swaddled in
helmets and goggles, the rest of your party can
stroll down a cobblestoned street lined with bright
Swiss-style storefronts, or step into the cabriolet
gondola, to reach the multi-use path at the base
of the mountain (a.k.a. your bypass to bliss).
Snap into a pair of cross-country skis and kick
and glide through the forest for a couple of kilometres until you reach the Rivière du Diable. It’s like
walking, only smoother and slightly faster – a sensation of ultralight flight compared with the blasting jets of downhill. When you reach the water,
stop. Breathe. Smell the pine. Look at the dark
green current cascading through channels in the
ice. This is a threshold. Around the bend, follow
the ridge to a snow-covered bridge and then
cross the river onto 600 hectares (almost 1,500
acres) of hills and lakes managed by the Domaine
Saint-Bernard public land trust, where more than
90 kilometres (56 miles) of groomed cross-country
trails await. “With cross-country skiing, even when
it’s really cold out, you get great exercise and
warm up,” says Anne-Marie Brassard, the petite

quantité de choix garantira le bonheur de tous.
Les membres de votre clan qui sont accros au
ski alpin trouveront tout ce qu’il leur faut à l’un
des trois centres de location du village de MontTremblant. Même avant 8 h, par -20 °C et lorsque les remonte-pentes sont réservés aux clients
des hôtels et aux détenteurs de passes Premières traces, ces magasins sont pleins. Pendant
que les grands sportifs s’arment d’un casque
et de lunettes, les autres peuvent se promener
sur une rue pavée bordée de boutiques de type
chalet suisse ou prendre le cabriolet pour atteindre le sentier multi-activités au pied de la montagne (votre raccourci vers le paradis!).
Chaussez vos skis de fond et parcourez deux
kilomètres en forêt jusqu’à la rivière du Diable.
C’est comme la marche, mais en version plus
fluide et un peu plus rapide, ou encore comme
un doux vol en ultraléger par opposition au vol en
jet qu’est le ski alpin. Quand vous serez arrivé au
cours d’eau, faites une pause. Respirez. Sentez
l’odeur de pin. Admirez le courant vert foncé
qui serpente sous la glace. Vous avez atteint le

boss who oversees the small rental shop, ski
school and café at the heart of Ski de Fond MontTremblant. “You always come back energized,
with good colour in your face. But don’t forget to
take a break and feed the birds.”
Ski de Fond’s trails form a series of interconnected loops. If you’re with a kid, drive for 10
minutes from the ped village to the central lodge
and choose a route that is appropriate for parent
and child. The Grande Allée, a rolling seven-kilometre (4.35-mile) circuit in the woods, is ideal for
breaking a sweat and savouring transcendent
moments. Whoosh down to the water’s edge and
warm up beside the wood stove at a backcountry
cabin. Emerge into a snow squall stage lit by the
slanting sun. Proffer a palmful of sunflower seeds
and let the chickadees swarm.
There are other excellent places to cross-country ski nearby. Intersecting the southern leg of Ski
de Fond, Le P’tit Train du Nord, a 232-kilometrelong (144-mile-long) linear park on an old rail line,

pour aller du village piétonnier à l’accueil principal. Puis, choisissez un itinéraire adapté. La

beckons with firm classic tracks and crisp corduroy for skate skiing. A half-hour drive to the
north, Parc National du Mont-Tremblant has 43
kilometres (27 miles) of groomed trails and more
than 100 kilometres (62 miles) of single-track wilderness. But you can make it to the Ski de Fond
network under your own steam, and get back to
the hotel in time for a soak in the outdoor hot tub
before dinner. Surrounded by evergreens coated
in glistening hoar frost and an army of tiny snowmen made by the après gang, you’ll find that
sweet spot between boil and freeze.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton is near the
main ski lift. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the
two-bedroom units are spacious and comfy, with
a pair of bathrooms and a fireplace. A daily hot
breakfast is included with accommodation, and
every room has a full kitchen, but for an evening
out, head to La Maison de la Crêpe, one of MontTremblant’s newest restaurants. Order a light,
thin crepe stuffed with goat cheese and roasted
réchauffez-vous autour du poêle à bois d’une
cabane. Quand vous en ressortirez, l’immensité
blanche reflétera le soleil qui descend sur l’horizon. Jetez une poignée de graines de tournesol
et observez le ballet des mésanges.
Il y a bien d’autres endroits excellents pour le
ski de fond. À l’intersection de la partie sud du
circuit Ski de fond, vous trouverez le parc linéaire
du P’tit train du Nord, un tracé de 232 kilomètres qui suit une ancienne voie ferrée, avec
des pistes parfaites pour le ski de fond classique
ou le ski de patin. À une demi-heure de voiture
vers le nord, le Parc national du Mont-Tremblant propose 43 kilomètres de pistes damées
et plus de 100 kilomètres de pistes tracées.
Mais vous pouvez aussi rejoindre le réseau de
Ski de fond par vos propres moyens et rentrer
à l’hôtel à temps pour vous détendre un peu
dans le jacuzzi extérieur avant de souper.

follow the trancelike beats to the intimate Samurai Sushi Pub and sit at the bar with a Sapporo
while perusing the takeout menu. It’s a struggle
to decide quickly. Popcorn shrimp maki with
avocado and apple? A crab-and-cucumber roll
garnished with onion confit? Anybody waiting for
supper up in the suite might get hungry.
The fish is even fresher the next morning. A few
minutes south of Saint-Jovite, the former municipality that merged with the city of Mont-Tremblant
in 2000, Martin Savard guides people angling
for pike, perch and bass on Lac Maskinongé.
Walk across the solid foot-thick surface to his
tent, where rods and a propane heater await.
Savard’s approach to catch-and-release ice fishing combines traditional methods with modern
technology. He lowers a camera into the lake so
you can watch potential bites circle your bait. He
also marks each location with a GPS device and
knows where to sink a line to raise the odds.
But, ultimately, fishing is a game. A quintessential
slice of Québécois culture that’s popular in winter
with tourists from warmer-climate countries. “We
spend the day outside, by ourselves, in the open,”
Savard says, surveying the windswept white sea.
“Ice fishing is a Zen activity. It’s slow, with some
action once in a while. It’s okay to yell when you
pull a big pike out of a small hole.”
The Tremblant Activity Centre will book you an
outing with Savard, and it has a long list of other
adventures to consider, from ziplines and paintball to dune buggy safaris and helicopter tours. To

de crevettes popcorn avec avocat et pomme?
Rouleau de crabe et de concombre garni de
confit d’oignon? Ceux qui vous attendent dans la
suite vont avoir faim.
Le lendemain, le poisson est encore plus frais.
À quelques minutes au sud de Saint-Jovite, qui
a fusionné avec la ville de Mont-Tremblant en
2000, Martin Savard guide ceux qui pêchent le
brochet, la perche et l’achigan sur le lac Maskinongé. Marchez sur la glace d’un pied d’épaisseur jusqu’à sa tente chauffée au propane.
Savard relâche les prises et mêle méthode
ancienne et technologie moderne. Sa caméra
sous-marine permet de voir les poissons s’approchant des appâts. Les bons endroits sont
repérés au GPS afin d’améliorer vos chances.
Mais c’est un sport et non une science. La pêche
fait partie de la culture québécoise, et sa pratique hivernale est populaire auprès des touristes
venus de contrées plus chaudes. « Nous passons la journée en plein air, tout seuls, en plein
air », dit Savard en observant sa mer enneigée
balayée par le vent. « La pêche sur glace est une
activité zen. C’est lent, avec un peu d’action de
temps en temps. On a le droit de crier quand on
sort un gros brochet d’un petit trou. »

maintain a soothing vibe, opt for the horse-drawn
sleigh ride. At the reins sits Gerard Émond, who
lives in a farmhouse on Rue Émond, beside Le
P’tit Train, just north of Saint-Jovite. “I used to do
this with my father,” he says as the white Percherons named Lea and Duke start to stride. “I have
only been at it for 64 years.” Buried in blankets,
and with sleigh bells singing, you slide gracefully
along a corridor through the trees, fluffy snow
weighing down their skirts. Rabbit tracks dart
off into the bush. A family of deer commandeer
the fairway of a golf course decked with dreamy
meringue. The sun sets, turning the clouds pink.
In the distance, chandeliered chalets look like fairy
tale castles. Lea and Duke snort, breaking the
spell. But the enchantment has only begun.
After the alfresco exertion, make a break for
the spa. Remember: balance. Scandinave Spa
Mont-Tremblant, a constellation of saunas, hot
tubs and plunge pools on a rise above the Rivière
du Diable, embraces a Nordic philosophy of alternating extremes. Start in the dry Finnish sauna,
where the temperature tops 85 degrees Celsius;
your pores open and toxins are released. Then
rinse under the bone-chilling waterfall; pores slam
shut, trapping that thermal power inside your
body. Skin, muscles, organs and blood flow get
a boost. Brave bathers can also dunk themselves
in the river. But watch out: diable means “devil” in
English, and you’ll understand why as you scamper back to your robe.
There are other ways to decelerate in MontTremblant. If you’re an alpine expert, sign up for a
snowboarding lesson and start from scratch with
a new sport. Or, if you’re a beginner, take a tour
of the slopes with one of the mountain’s info ski
guides, who can lead you to the more gentle runs.
Free sessions are offered daily. Nansen, the mildest trail on the hill, sweeps through the trees for
six kilometres (3.7 miles). It’s like cross-country
skiing from the summit. Which means it brushes
up against heaven •

l’oubliez pas. Constellation de bains chauds, de
saunas et de piscines juchée près de la rivière,
Scandinave Spa Mont-Tremblant a adopté la
philosophie nordique de l’alternance des extrêmes. Commencez par le sauna sec finlandais
qui dépasse 85 °C : il ouvre les pores et élimine
les toxines. Puis, c’est la douche froide sous la
cascade. Les pores se referment pour conserver
cette puissance thermique. La peau, les muscles, les organes et le sang reçoivent un coup de
fouet. Les plus braves plongeront dans la rivière
du Diable, qui porte bien son nom : vous aurez
hâte d’en sortir pour remettre votre peignoir.

The aim of this establishment in Outremont, say its owners, was to create a
“classic store with displays that evoke

On croit qu’une ligne aérienne est une
grosse bête effrayante, mais chez Porter
l’ambiance est très différente. Quand
je me suis installée à Toronto, après mes
études en marketing à Ottawa, j’ai trouvé
un poste chez Porter dès le premier mois.
La culture de l’entreprise et sa réputation,
interne et externe, sont incroyables. Partout où je vais, on me dit : « Oh, vous travaillez pour Porter? Nous adorons Porter! »
Il est très rare que les clients vous apprécient
autant, dans tout secteur et en particulier dans
les transports aériens.
Je suis coordonnatrice de projets marketing depuis dix mois. J’ai commencé il y a cinq
ans, en tant qu’adjointe de direction, puis je suis
passée aux Évasions Porter. Avoir joué plus d’un
rôle dans une entreprise permet de comprendre le fonctionnement d’ensemble. J’ai compris
comment ce sur quoi je travaille influence les
autres départements.
L’une de mes grandes responsabilités est
de mettre à jour le tableau qui suit en permanence la progression de tous nos projets. C’est la bible qui nous aide à gérer l’emploi
du temps de chacun et permet de voir où il y a
urgence et besoin de renfort. Si quelqu’un a
trop de travail ou si un projet stagne car il est en
attente d’approbation, on le voit et chacun peut
apporter son aide. Ça facilite le suivi des livraisons et la répartition des tâches.
Au quotidien, je dois coordonner une douzaine de projets. Le département de marketing
reçoit des demandes de tous les départements :
affichage aéroportuaire, campagnes par courriel, publicités dans les journaux ou les médias
sociaux… Sans oublier les projets spéciaux
comme la campagne sur l’ouverture du tunnel à
l’aéroport Billy Bishop de Toronto. Plusieurs projets cool comme ça.
You think of airlines as big and scary, but
the atmosphere of Porter is so different.
When I moved to Toronto after my marketing
degree in Ottawa, I found a position with Porter
within the first month. The company’s culture
and reputation, both internally and externally, are
amazing. Everywhere I go, people exclaim, “Oh,
you work at Porter? We love Porter!” It’s very rare
to be that loved by consumers – in any industry,
but especially among airlines.
I’ve been Coordinator of Marketing Projects
for 10 months now. I started as an Executive
Assistant nearly five years ago, then I moved to
Porter Escapes. When you’ve played more than
one role in a company, you get a better understanding of how it works as a whole; you really
get to see how the stuff you work on affects
other departments.
One of the big roles I play here is managing the agile board that tracks all the projects we have going on at one time. It’s our
holy bible; it helps us see the workload of the
team, so we can see where there are emergencies, where there’s backup needed. If someone is
overloaded, or if a project is stalled because of a
pending approval, people can see that and jump
in and help. It makes it so easy to track deliveries
and assign tasks to people.

On any given day, I’ll coordinate a dozen
different projects. Requests come into Marketing from departments throughout the company, so that can mean signage around the
airport, e-mail blasts, ad campaigns in newspapers or on social media, and special projects like
the campaigns that went out when the tunnel
opened here at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
Lots of cool stuff like that.
One of the biggest programs we’ve worked
on recently is the launch of the revamped
VIPorter. Before we redesigned our frequent
flyer program, you earned a set amount of points
on Firm, Flex and Freedom fares, but now it’s
based on every dollar you spend. It was a lot of
work, but it definitely made the program better
for our passengers. It’s super exciting, and it
was a huge, huge project that mobilized the
whole company.
The way our department works, if someone thinks up a good idea, it gets consideration. Our team is made up of Marketing,
Communications and Loyalty, so I’d say approximately 20 people altogether – a good family-sized team. And it’s not as if it’s only the
higher-ups who make the decisions. It’s a real
team effort. We have weekly meetings as well as
brainstorms, and a lot of the team is made up of
creative individuals, like our designers and our
copywriters. They always have great feedback
and ideas, and are always changing it up.
The most challenging part of the job is
managing the workflow. Everything comes
in marked “urgent,” so trying to figure out what
actually is urgent is probably the biggest challenge. And getting the most amount of information from people, as well – like with an e-mail
campaign, helping them figure out what they
want to say and whom they want to say it to
sometimes takes some wrangling.
Working in the airport, you definitely get
that travel bug. It’s so easy to just hop on a
plane and try a new adventure! I’m really into the
outdoors and being athletic, so my sister and
I went to Thunder Bay last fall and hiked one of
the provincial parks up there. It was so, so much
fun. Getting to oversee the whole of Lake Superior as the leaves were changing – it was incredible.
My next trip will be to Pittsburgh. It’s one of
our newest destinations, and I can’t wait to see
the Steelers and the Penguins play. There’s also
a famous burger there that’s served with fries
inside – yeah, I’m going to be trying one of those •

L’un de nos plus gros projets récents a été
le lancement du nouveau VIPorter. Avec
l’ancien programme, les passagers fréquents
gagnaient un nombre de points selon qu’ils
volaient Firm, Flex ou Freedom. Maintenant,
les points sont attribués en fonction du montant dépensé en dollars. On a travaillé très fort,
mais ça en vaut définitivement la peine pour nos
passagers. C’est vraiment génial et c’était un
énorme projet qui a mobilisé toute l’entreprise.
Dans notre département, si quelqu’un a
une bonne idée, elle sera examinée. Notre
équipe rassemble marketing, communications
et fidélisation soit une vingtaine de personnes;
une équipe familiale. Et ce ne sont pas juste les
cadres qui prennent les décisions. C’est un vrai
travail d’équipe. Nous avons des réunions hebdomadaires et des séances de remue-méninges. Il y a des gens vraiment créatifs, comme
nos designers et rédacteurs. Ils ont toujours des
commentaires et des idées intéressants et ils ne
font jamais deux fois la même chose.
La partie la plus difficile de mon travail est
de gérer le flux du travail. Tout ce qui m’arrive
est marqué « urgent », alors mon grand défi est
de trier ce qui est vraiment prioritaire. Et d’arriver
à obtenir le maximum d’informations de la part
des gens. Pour une campagne par courriel, par
exemple, il faut déterminer quel est le message
crucial et à qui il va s’adresser. Ce n’est pas toujours facile.
Comme je travaille à l’aéroport, j’ai attrapé
le virus du voyage. Il est si facile de sauter
dans un avion et de partir à l’aventure! J’aime
le sport et le plein air, donc je suis allée à Thunder Bay avec ma sœur l’automne dernier pour
faire de la randonnée dans un des parcs provinciaux. C’était génial. Nous avons pu admirer le
lac Supérieur lorsque les feuilles changeaient de
couleur. Incroyable.
La prochaine fois, j’irai à Pittsburgh. C’est
l’une de nos nouvelles destinations et je voudrais
voir jouer les Steelers et les Penguins. Il paraît
qu’il y aussi un hamburger avec des frites à l’intérieur. Il faut absolument que je goûte à ça •
