Spring Cleaning? Clean your closet and driveway too
Kidney Foundation’s Recycling Programs makes clean up easy
(Ontario) – If your drawers are overflowing and your closets are in chaos, now is the time to rid your home of
clutter. Save the environment and don’t throw away your reusable clothing, put it to a good cause. Contact
Kidney Clothes and take advantage of our free collection service right from your door step. But don’t stop there;
Kidney Car is the solution, if an old car is sitting in your driveway taking up precious space.
Kidney Car and Kidney Clothes recycling programs raise funds to benefit The Kidney Foundation of Canada to help
the 1 in 10 Canadians living with kidney disease, many of whom don’t even know they are afflicted with this silent
killer. If left undiagnosed or untreated, kidney disease can have devastating effects on individuals and their
families. Millions more are at risk of developing kidney disease.
“Spring is one of the busiest seasons for both of our recycling programs” said David Cybulski, Kidney Car Program
Manager. “For Kidney Car, the spike in donations often occurs because people are returning outdoors after a long
winter and finally take the time to deal with the old car taking up precious space in the driveway, and as new car
sales begin to heat up, people are looking for a meaningful way to get rid of their used vehicle.”
“Kidney Clothes donations also tend to spike as season change, added Sylvia Krampelj, Senior Manger, Kidney
Clothes. With warmer weather on the horizon, closets are being cleaned making room for the summer wardrobe.
Kidney Car partners have been recycling cars to benefit The Kidney Foundation of Canada for 25 years. People can
call the toll-free number 1.866.788.CARS or donate their unwanted vehicles online at www.kidneycar.ca . Our
recycling partners will tow the vehicle for free within 48 hours and donors will receive a charitable tax receipt for
their donation – now a minimum of $300. Newer models, in road worthy condition may qualify for a significantly
larger tax receipt.
“It’s a win-win for The Kidney Foundation and for the donors,” according to Cybulski. “We take care of everything
for our donors and they are confident their donation has helped patients and their families living with kidney
disease.” Donors can be assured that their cars are recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
Kidney Clothes will pick up your used clothing and other cloth based items including linens, coats, purses and
shoes, right at your doorstep. A simple call to our Kidney Clothes hotline at 1.800.414.3484 makes cleaning the
closets a breeze.
The Kidney Foundation provides patients, their families and those at risk with a variety of publications and
information to assist them; all newly-diagnosed patients receive, free of charge, a Living with Kidney Disease
manual to help them navigate through their new reality of medical care. In addition, the Foundation has a popular
peer support program, Kidney Connect. Kidney Connect matches trained volunteers who have gone through the
experiences of dialysis, transplant or donation – or cared for someone who has – with patients who find it helpful
to talk to someone who has been where they are going.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada is the national volunteer organization committed to reducing the burden of
kidney disease through funding and stimulating innovative research; providing education and support; promoting
access to high quality healthcare; and increasing public awareness and commitment to advancing kidney health
and organ donation. For 50 years we have been working to ease the burden of kidney disease and have
contributed more than $110 million to research.
