Honouring a Hamilton Nephrologist who truly puts
his patients first
Hamilton, ON – Nephrologist, Dr. David Ludwin will be honoured by his peers and the broader kidney
community at The Kidney Foundation’s 5th annual Impressions event.
”Impressions is the premier event paying tribute to Pioneers, Innovators, Leaders and Caregivers;
individuals who have placed their unique fingerprint into their contributions and have left an indelible
mark on the kidney community,” said Sue Tkachuk, Lead Volunteer, Hamilton.
The achievements and contributions of Dr. David Ludwin who is currently Professor Emeritus in the
Department of Medicine at McMaster University, Staff Nephrologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton,
and past Co-Chair of The Kidney Foundation’s Research Council, will be celebrated at Impressions, on
Thursday, November 27, 2014 at LiUNA Station, Hamilton.
“It really is so fitting to be able to celebrate the accomplishments of Dr. David Ludwin, during The Kidney
Foundation’s 50th Anniversary year” said Co-Chair Dr. Gangji. “This award is being given in recognition of
his contributions to medicine, administration and academia and the significant impact he has had on
medical care provided to the Hamilton community. His dedication to his patients has been unparalleled,
and it is most fitting that he is the recipient of this prestigious honour,” said Co-Chair Dr. Darin
Treleaven.
With a strong focus on patient care, Dr. Ludwin's patients are quick to sing his praises, recalling a doctor
who has made an impact on their lives. As a mentor, teacher, leader and researcher, Dr. Ludwin has
been described by his colleagues as a role model whose commitment to patient care, education and
research are unsurpassed. Impressions 2014 will feature stories and laughter, and praise for an
individual that is so admired and respected.
"Impressions will give us the opportunity to not only pay tribute to the work of Dr. Ludwin, but also help
raise awareness about the impact of kidney disease and highlight the important work of The Kidney
Foundation during our 50th Anniversary year," said Jennifer Fraser, Hamilton Chapter Manager.
