E3 TESTER-USERS MANUAL

E3 OPERATOR GROUND CHECK has been designed to test the performance of ESD wrist straps and foot-wears such as clogs, shoes, sandals
or foot-grounders. E3 is designed to operate tests in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1 standard (table 1).
E3 performs test on the ESD wristband and the ESD foot-wears automatically. The operator can easily select the test to perform. E3 includes a
dual foot plate in order to verify the conductivity of the left and right foot separately and simultaneously.
E3 OPERATOR GROUND CHECK a été conçu pour tester les performances de bracelet antistatique, chaussures ou tallonettes.
E3 est conçu pour faire le test conformément à la norme IEC 61340-5-1 (tableau 1).
E3 effectue le test sur le bracelet antistatique et les chaussures ESD automatiquement. L'opérateur peut facilement sélectionner le test à effectuer. E3 comprend une plaque test talonnettes/chaussures double afin de vérifier la conductivité du pied gauche et droite séparément et simultanément.

testen. Sie wurde für Tests konzipiert, die dem IEC 61340-5-1 Standard (Tabelle 1) entsprechen. Mit E3 lassen sich Tests auf ESD-Armbänder
und ESD-Schuhen automatisch ausführen. Der Bediener kann zwischen den Testverfahren leicht wählen. E3 beinhaltet eine Doppel-Fußplatte,
um die Leitfähigkeit des linken und des rechten Fußes sowohl getrennt als auch gleichzeitig zu prüfen.

In case the power cord of the E3 is damaged for whatever reason, it must be immediately replaced by a second original one.

Do not pull the power supply cord to unplug the power supply unit from the mains
E3 door opener gives two “Clean Contacts” in order to drive door openers or similar. They are NOT Power Contacts. Please refer to the contact ratings table.

La prise ‘OPEN DOOR’ donne un “signal electrique” qui est utilisée pour la ouverture d’une porte automatique ou similare comme l’acces del personel à la
usine. Important: ne pas utiliser cette “prise” avec l’alimentations à 220V. Veulliez controler le manual
1-NOTE
The E3 has been designed for a wall application (wall mount). Hang or glue the yellow panel to a protected location at the entrance of the EPA,
assuming that the personnel will perform the test before entering the area. Ideally, the best location is at the entrance of the production line, in
order to allow the preventive test procedures before starting the daily work.
1-REMARQUE
L'E3 a été conçu pour une application murale (PLAQUE MURALE). Accrochez ou coller le panneau jaune à un endroit protégé à l'entrée de l'APE,
le personnel fera le test avant d'entrer dans la zone protégée. Idéalement, le meilleur endroit est à l'entrée de la ligne de production, afin de permettre les procédures de test avant de commencer le travail quotidien.
1-HINWEIS
E3 ist für eine Wand Anwendung (Wandmontage) konzipiert. Hängen Sie die gelbe Wandschild an die Wand in einem geschützten Bereich am

3-INPUT CABLE On the lower part of the E3 is located the 3,5mm female input receptacle of the connection cord from the tester to the foot plate.

4– CONNECTION After instrument positioning, connect the foot-plate using enclosed coiled cord as follows:
 3,5mm dual-pole banana jack has to be inserted in the tester receptacle.


6-METAL TOUCH PLATE
The metal touch plate is designed to provide the electrical contact between the skin of the operator and the monitor. Typically, the operator presses on the plate with his finger and holds pressure until the L.E.D.s shines giving the requested

8-L.E.D. INDICATIONS
The L.E.D. indication is designed to provide an immediate visual reading of the results of the performed test on footwears
and wristbands
“HI” L.E.D.s (red colour) indicate that the equipment (foot-wears and/or wristbands) show an electrical resistance too high,
exceeding the top limit of the correct range
“PASS” L.E.D.s (green colour) indicate that the ESD equipment (foot-wears and/or wristbands) show correct electrical
resistance values (within the range)
“LOW” L.E.D.s (red colour) indicate that the equipment (foot-wears and/or wristbands) show an electrical resistance too
low, exceeding the bottom limit of the correct range
8-INDICATIONS L.E.D.
Les indications L.E.D. sont conçues pour fournir une lecture visuelle immédiate des résultats du test sur les chaussures et le bracelet

8-L.E.D. ANZEIGE

9-TEST DE BRACELET SEULEMENT

check that your ESD shoes have a clean sole in order to provide the best electrical contact (a dirty sole will increase
your electrical resistance to ground and will not allow a correct test)
wear your left and right ESD shoes as indicated by the instructions for a good electrical connection with your feet
step on the dual plate positioning your feet on the two metal plates (place your feet ensuring that the soles of the
shoes are placed in the centre of each metal plate)
press and hold the metal plate on the front of the E3 and hold until L.E.D.s shine
the coloured L.E.D.s will shine respectively for the left footwear and the right footwear (HI, LOW or PASS)
10-TEST DE CHAUSSURES SEULEMENT
 tourner le sélecteur sur la position centrale indiquant la "chaussure"





vérifier que vos chaussures ESD ont une semelle propre afin d'assurer le meilleur contact électrique (la seule sale augmente votre résistance électrique à la terre et ne permet pas un test correct)
mettez vos chaussures ESD gauche et droit comme indiqué par les instructions pour une bonne connexion électrique avec les pieds
montez sur la plaque et placez vos pieds sur les deux plaques métalliques (placez vos pieds au centre de chaque plaque de métal)
appuyez et maintenez la pression sur la plaque métallique jusqu'au moment où les LEDs s’allumeront
les LED s’allumeront respectivement pour la chaussure gauche et la chaussure droite (HI, LOW ou PASS)
10-NUR SCHUHE TESTEN
 1. Drehen Sie den Wahlschalter auf die obere Position "Schuh"





2. Kontrollieren Sie, ob Ihre ESD Schuhe eine saubere Sohle haben, um den besten elektrischen Kontakt zu gewährleisten (eine schmutzige
Sohle wird Ihren elektrischen Widerstand erhöhen und ein korrektes Testergebnis wird dadurch nicht möglich).
3. Ziehen Sie den linken und rechten ESD Schuh entsprechend den Anweisungen an, damit eine gute elektrische Verbindung mit den Füßen
vorhanden ist.
4. Treten Sie mit dem linken ESD Schuh auf die linke Hälfte der Metall-Fußplatte, mit dem rechten Schuh auf die rechte Hälfte der MetallFußplatte (vergewissern Sie sich, dass beide Schuhsohlen in der Mitte der jeweiligen Platte platziert sind)
5. Drücken Sie die Metallplatte an der Vorderseite der E3 und halten Sie die sie gedrückt, bis die LEDs aufleuchten.
6. Die farbigen LEDs leuchten jeweils für den linken und den rechten Schuh (HI, LOW PASS)

11-TEST DE CHAUSSURES ET DE BRACELET
 tourner le sélecteur sur position droite indiquant la «chaussure + main"




mettez correctement le bracelet et les chaussures ESD
connectez le câble de bracelet à la prise respective sur le E3 et placez vos pieds sur les plaques métalliques respectives (gauche et droite)
appuyez et maintenez la pression sur la plaque métallique de l'E3
les LED s’allumeront respectivement pour le pied gauche, le pied droit et le bracelet (HI, LOW et PASS)
11-TEST VON SCHUHEN UND ARMBAND
 1. Drehen Sie den Wahlschalter auf die richtigen Position "Schuh + Hand"




2. Tragen richtig das Armband und die ESD-Schuhe
3. Schließen Sie das Netzkabel des Armbandes am E3-Anschluss an und treten Sie mit beiden Füßen auf die entsprechende FußMetallplatte (linker und rechter Fuß)
4. Drücken und halten Sie die Metallplatte an der Vorderseite des E3.
5. Die farbigen LEDs leuchten jeweils für den linken Fuß, den rechten Fuß und das Armband (HI, LOW, PASS)
12-BATTERY INDICATION - The E3 operates with alkaline batteries or with external power supply. When operating with
batteries, the L.E.D. indications “LOW BATTERY” will advise about status of charge. The L.E.D. shines amber colour when
the battery is low of charge. Warning: replace battery as soon as amber LED stays ON for more than half second during a
single test. Short flashes are instead normal. The L.E.D. is not active when the Power Supply is connected.
12-INDICATION PILE - Le E3 fonctionne avec des piles alcalines ou avec alimentation externe. En cas de fonctionnement avec des piles, les
LED "LOW BAT" indique l'état de la charge. Le LED couleur ambre s’allume quand la batterie est faible. Dans ce cas, remplacer la batterie. Le
"LOW-BAT" LED n'est pas actif si l'alimentation externe est connecté.
12-BATTERIE ANZEIGE - E3 arbeitet mit Alkaline-Batterien oder mit externem Netztanschluss . Beim Batterie-Betrieb zeigt das LED-Zeichen
"Low Battery" den Ladungstatus an. Die LED leuchtet bernsteingelb, wenn die Batterie schwach ist. Warnung: ersetzen Sie die Batterie, sobald
das LOW BATTERY-LED mehr als eine halbe Sekunde während des Tests leuchtet. Kurzes Aufleuchten ist hingegen normal. LED ist nicht aktiv,
wenn Netzteil angeschlossen ist.
DOOR OPENING SYSTEM
13-DOOR OPENER - Unique feature of the E3 is the
door-opening system. On the lower part of the tester
is located the NO-NC relay “clean contacts” which
can be used to drive a door opening control system.
In this way the E3 can discriminate the access to
EPA restricted areas. See table and sketch below for
relay connections, performances and max. load applicable.
13-SYSTEME D’OUVERTURE DE PORTE
La caractéristique unique de l'E3 est le système d'ouverture des portes. Sur la partie inférieure du tester
est situé le relais NO-NC "clean contacts" qui peut

13-TÜR-ÖFFNUNGS-SYSTEM
Einzigartiges Merkmal des E3 ist das Tür-ÖffnungsSystem. Am unteren Teil des Testers befindet sich
das NO-NC Relais "saubere Kontakte", das für die
Steuerung des Tür-Öffnungs-Systems verwendet
wird. Auf diese Weise kann E3 den Zugang zum EPA

When the E3 tester is used in connection with the external power-supply the tester must be grounded. Insert the ground cord into the receptacle
at the left side of the tester and connect the metal ring to a suitable grounding point. When the tester is used with battery 9V it must not be grounded.
