(A Word from the President)
Greetings everyone! By now, I’m sure most of you
are aware of the Society’s meeting place situation.
We had to change our picnic location, and due to
financial concerns we’re now changing our monthly
meeting location. The Board has been busy working
to ensure we have a comfortable meeting place for
the remainder of the summer as well as keeping up
with regular business. Your Board members have
been busy visiting potential venues and meeting with
their representatives.
We believe we have narrowed down the choices to
several best contenders. I encourage everyone to
attend our next monthly meeting at the New
Braunfels VFW Post # 7110 next to Cypress Bend
Park, on WEDNESDAY, 6 May. The VFW has

Spaßzeit für alle!
(Fun for all)
April Picnic and Entertainment
Even though we had to change locations for our
annual picnic in April because of the continued
construction in Landa Park, it turned out to be a very
pleasant evening. Thanks to Schlitterbahn for
allowing us to use their Bavarian Halle for NO
CHARGE! What a deal! Thanks to all who
helped put this event together, and thanks to all of
you who brought such delicious food! There seemed
to be more home-cooked food this year, which made
it even better. And what would a party be without
music? Terry Cavanagh and Kevin Hatcher
teamed up to provide us with wonderful German
music, and a few variety tunes, which made the party
that much better. All in all, it was a super night
enjoyed by all.
May Entertainment
Our entertainment for our May meeting will be the
Edelweiss Kinderchor von New Braunfels! Most of
you are familiar with this group of kids and their
annual performance for the German American
Children’s German
Language Camp
Once again our society, in conjunction with the
Heritage Society, is offering a German Language
Camp for Children ages 6 – 13.
The camp will be held at the Solms School which
is at Heritage Village on Church Hill Drive and
will go from June 8 thru June 19.
The children will be taught through various
methods; games, music, media and some
drill. Previous students always seem to return with
great expectations of another good year.
Children with no prior German instruction will be
taught from 9:00-12:00 each day
Children with some knowledge of German will
attend from 1:00-4:00 each day.
The modest price for the two weeks is $95.00
which covers the cost of all materials and snacks.

Kein Mensch kann dir in deinem Leben,
mehr Liebe als eine Mutter geben.
Sie, die alles über dich weiß
bekommt im Mai vielleicht von dir einen
Mutterpreis.
Hoch lebe die Frau, die bedingungslos liebt,
wie schön, dass es eine Mutter gibt!!
Und Du als ihr Kind, tu dich nicht schwer,
denn eine Mutter gibts nur einmal,
und dann niemals mehr!
It is the 20th Anniversary of our Maibaum,
dedicated April 23, 1995 to the city of New Braunfels
by the German-American Society to commemorate
the 150th Anniversary of the Founding by German
