Sally’s class went on an adventure trip, but Sally was ill. When her friend
Karen phones, she is asleep. Read what Karen told Sally’s mother and
complete what Sally’s mother told Sally.
Hi Mrs Tennant! The trip is great! Tell Sally that we went
skylining today. It was fantastic! Only Ben was afraid –
he didn’t go in the end – a guide had to rescue him! But I
loved it! Please tell Sally that we haven’t been horse
riding and I don’t think we’ll go at all – there’s something
wrong with our bus so we can’t drive to the horse ranch.
Tomorrow we’ll go swimming instead. We all miss Sally!
Mrs. Tennant: “How are you, Sally?”
Sally: “I’m better, I think. Who were you talking to earlier?”
Mrs. Tennant: “That was Karen. She said the school trip was great. She
asked me to tell you that they had been/went skylining today and it
had been/was fantastic. But, poor Ben! Sally said that Ben had
been/was afraid and he hadn’t gone/didn’t go in the end. The poor
boy! She said that a guide had had to rescue/had to rescue him!
Oh, yes, she said that they hadn’t been horse riding and she didn’t
think they would go at all because there was something wrong with
their bus, so they couldn’t drive to the horse ranch. She said they
would go swimming instead.
I hope you feel better soon. They all miss you. If you feel better
